  1. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) Insider is a paid service. The others are not. Exactly. Free material is just that, free material. When you are taking something you have to pay for, the site can be held resposible.
  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) If Kenny isn't the Executive of the Year, I don't know who would be. Anthraxfan93
  3. Uh I wouldn't cut and paste that. Copying copyrighted paid material can get Soxtalk sued. If someone wants to summerize it, that would be cool. Otherwise it will probably just get deleted anyway.
  4. Wow, that is some pretty incredible stuff.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) The Twins and Yanks ar nearly sold out (Supposedly Friday and Sat Yanks games are sold out). Detroit weekend series should also be near sold out, KC not sure, but LA definitely near sold out. I would imagine if the Sox have not clinched by the 19th - which hopefully they will have - the Cleveland series will be close to a sell out and Minnesota - being the last homestand will definitely be close to a sell out. I think they can hit 2.4 easy. It'll be interesting because there are a couple of clunkers for series coming up as well though. Looking at that midweek series's with KC and Cle in September look like crap, but they do have some good series too... They have Anaheim coming in that could be billed a playoff preview if Oakland keeps streaking, plus the two Twins series. I really hope that they make it.

    QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) You = Suck. Napoleon Dynamite is the 2nd greatest movie ever. Right behind Shawshank Redemption... I was actually pissed off that I paid 99 cents to rent that movie. That was an hour and a half of my life I will never have back.
  7. City starts two weeks from today.
  8. a couple of interesting targets for the Sox. In order to draw 2.4 million they need to have 743,973 attend for an average of 32,347 a game In order to average 30,000 for the full season, they need 773,973 over the last 23 games or 33,651 average per game. Either total (2.4 mil or 2.43 mil) would place the Sox with the 4th highest attendance in team history behind the 91-93 seasons.
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) We'll be there.. And tell me about the whiny crap.. :rolly I get up at least 2 hours before most of you "kids".. work a full time job longer then your school day.. and maintain a household.. yet still find the time to attend weeknight games - and most of the time go out after the game. And then she walks home in 3 feet of snow, barefoot, uphill, in a blinding snowstorm...
  10. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Does anyone know where I can look to see where the Sox rank vs. the rest of the league in attendance this year? ESPN.com has it in their statistical breakdown.
  11. Welcome to Soxtalk!!!
  12. Awesome Zach, definately need more Hoosier influence!!!
  13. QUOTE(Art Vandelay @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) Are you SERIOUS? I'm surprised they aren't playing summerfests in the sw suburbs for $5 a pop! This is one case where people need to realize that old does NOT equal good.
  14. Interesting with as bad as Moyer has been on the season, 8 of his last 10 starts have been quality starts.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) The A's got back B. Crosby from the DL, and have been incredible since that time. As for the Astros, it was just a matter of them getting a healthy Berkman and Pettitte back. I see what you're getting at, and I think I agree. A team doesn't necessarily have to add an ingredient in order to play well. However, I don't feel like we've done enough to make up for the offensive loss that happened when Thomas went out for the year. Everett was a great back-up for Thomas....but we don't have a back-up for Everett AT ALL! How many DH type, middle of the order hitters is one team supposed to have? I know we didn't do anything to make up for Frank, but it sounds like we sure as hell tried hard, with Kenny all but saying that he tried hard to get Griffey.
  16. Who did the A's and Astros pick up at the deadline to make them hot then?
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) That's something that Dougly would put in his sig area. I believe it was either him or Beastly that had it in their sig at one point.
  18. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) WHERE'S MY HAMMER?!? If I had a hammer, I'd hammer... Ah screw it I hate Peter, Paul, and Mary
  19. Our only chance of getting Frank back here is a Scott Williamson/Jon Lieber type two year deal with a minimal amount for next year, and a big time incentive contract for 2007
  20. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) while doing the dishes
  21. I get the feeling if it was Giambi, the name would have leaked already... Just a hunch.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Trust me, to some, this is very, very funny. Post.Of.The.Year.

    QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:47 AM) Still confused I'll bet he, I mean you, are still confused. Serious advice here, don't be so transparent, and you might have gotten a serious answer. The whole approach to this was a joke, and that's how the thread ended up. If Vince wants to know something, I know he has everybody's email addresses.
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) So what is the latest on the baby and the wedding plans. I love the synergy of this thread, especially to those just tuning in to SL&P. Things are really good on the baby front for us. I finally got to feel the baby kick for the first time on Thursday night so that was pretty incredible. The one big stress we have is we are trying to find a house, but we are having no luck in our price range. I have been trying to find a job that pays a little more, but haven't had much luck with that either. But like I said, most imporantly the baby is fine. We are almost exactly 3 months away from the due date.
  25. Remember TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Even if you have no tickets to the game you can still drop off food for the poor. If you are going to the game bring something!!!!!
