  1. Juan Uribe is vital to this team. Period. Ozuna doesn't make half of the plays that Uribe does. Pointing to him being 7th in errors is so incredibly lame, as we are talking about 14 teams in the league, so essentially he is middle of the pack in errors, but how is range, how is his arm, how many plays does he make that go under most SSs gloves? We have already seen that defensively Pablo Ozuna can't carry Uribe's jock in a suitcase. If you want to point to offense you are talking about a guy in Ozuna with absolute zero power. But keep nitpicking stats until something sticks.
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) There really is a shortage of cities to place a team. Las Vegas has to be at the top. Maybe Portland, that's about it. The one place I think that makes the most sense but I doubt it will ever happen is placing another team in NYC. And if the contract a team, they have to contract at least 2, can't have an odd number of teams in baseball like you can in the other sports. I remember reading a quality article that said the way to slow the NYC teams spending isn't taxes or salary caps but competition. They suggested adding a team in Brooklyn and a team in NJ. It would split up the market so that the Yankees and Mets would be on much closer footing to the rest of MLB.
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Gage's Gossip. This board would be D-E-A-D.

  5. QUOTE(Chuck's cuz @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) Yeah yeah yeah..I know......SSSSHHHHHHH we won't tell him...just one lil mistake, right. We all get one... I don't know if anyone has told you this yet, but keep posting please... You are great to read. Such energy
  6. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) ok what is it that they care abotu??? MONEY. we both agree on that. how do you maximize your money?? spend the least and get the most production out of your players. if you went to lamarr and said hey chuck, you can win 60 games, or you can win 70 games by spending teh same amount of money. what do you think hes gonna do. maximize the productivity with keepiung money the same. anyone who has had any sort of econ class would understand this edit: an econ class isnt even needed...its not a difficult concept Actually for the situation the DRays are in, they one of the most profitable teams in all of baseball, it is kinda hard to argue with that. Their luxury tax sharing check alone is bigger than their entire payroll. They are raking in money hand over fist right now, strictly from a P&L standpoint. Essentially that is why Pinella is so pissed off, because they have all of this money and aren't spending it.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) Very cool. What are these tiles anyway? Carbonized heat tiles that protect the oribitor during ascent and reentry. They are essential to keeping the shuttle from burning up in the atmosphere.
  8. Damn I thought my letter would get your anti-American ass fired. :angry
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) No, I don't believe it does. How could we overlook that key factor?! :banghead :banghead OMIT TIMO There it is done.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) Standard deviations basically means scoring one run one night, and seven the next night? And, while it averages out to four, you have a better shot of winning both games by scoring four one night and four the next? Pretty much you hit it right on the head. Standard deviations are the amount of variences that you can expect based on a certian percentage of occurances.
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) Nah, the PB&J wouldn't stay unless it was offered a huge space on my plate. More plate space than it deserved, IMO. You'll regret not treating the PBJ with respect. That PBJ is going to be HUGE.
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) So I take it you have no problem with Vizcaino giving up 4 hits while only recording one out against the second worst team in the AL? Keep in mind that Vizcaino had pitched in his 4th straight game when he did that. It isn't surprising to me that he wasn't sharp.
  13. I don't care if Brandon ended up pitching for the Cubs, I'd still root for him. That is how good of a kid Brandon McCarthy is IMO. If we trade him, I guarentee we will regret it. It might take Brandon a couple of years to grow into the majors, ala Jon Garland, but he has the stuff to be a succesful major league pitcher. I know that some of you guys know everything about baeball and all, but no offense I'll take the word of the GMs and scouts who have raved about this kid, over anyone.
  14. DAMN, I hate hogies. That BPJ and is going to be good if you all would give it sometime
  15. I guess it just goes to show you that you can't rollerskate in a buffalo herd, even if you are bigfoot.
  16. You knew the "if" things were going to start coming out.
  17. You forgot the most important Texas rule. Do NOT ask for Pinto beans in your chili. That will get your ass kicked, and then escorted to Arkansas, never to return again.
  18. You guys are way to obsessive. Altering your lives over weak trade rumors, it insane.
  19. There is only one thing missing from this thread. Paul Konerko sucks. [completes thread]
  20. Wow Dave Wills and partner pulling up the bottom of the list. :0
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) Lastly, I would love to know why age is such a big issue here... For many people age=maturity, right or wrong.
  22. Another thread down the toilet. Thanks guys.
