  1. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 9, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) That phrase is soooo 1995. I haven't heard anyone use it in quite some time. It's NY underground hip hop slang, of course. That's nothing, I have been trying to bring back "smurf" as a catchphrase
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) You mean the pips? Yeah, I am pretty sure that is what he is talking about.
  3. QUOTE(soxman352000 @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) We all loved Dave Wills he was a hell of a guy So would anyone like to comment on how Wills sounded? Seriously. I get the feeling he might be in a booth of ours sooner than later.
  4. Wow, how sad. to all of the family and friends...
  5. In all seriousness, I wonder how much of this has to do with the US media's protrayal of Canada as some kind of liberal-inteligensia safe haven during the election?
  6. Happy Birthday Boys!!!
  7. I was just surfing Ebay for a couple of things, and came accross a couple of auctions for old seats from the new ballpark. The seats aren't too expensive, but the shipping is steep. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5192846208&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5192851904&rd=1
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 9, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) It's funny because the Twins keep saying that they are not playing their best. If I remember correctly, they are off to better starts than they were the past 3 years. It sure seems like it. They keep saying they're not playing their best, but yet give no examples. Yet, they keep on ignoring anyone who says that the Sox are hitting piss poor right now and don't have their best hitter, Frank in the lineup. That is the mentality they have to have though. If they start to think the White Sox are a better team than they are, the season is over. You aren't going to beat a team who you have conceeded superiority to. I don't expect the Twins to change their tune until/if they are eliminated.
  9. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ May 9, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) 10-4 ... I was just wondering if ticketmaster put out info like that.. thanx... Nah, ticketmaster doesn't put out anything. I suppose you could use TM to guesstimate attendance based on what seats are left, (big crowds=no LD tix left) but I think only the White Sox know the full picture.
  10. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ May 9, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) Maybe I am too synical about this, but I find this VERY interesting for several reasons. WGN almost NEVER gives weekday primetime programming to baseball (Cubs or Sox) because they are too busy airing WB crap. However, they are willing to give time to the SOX (not owned by Trib Co) on a THursay night when the sox just "happen" to be playing a home game against the O's who just "happen" to employ Sammy Sosa. Anyone else find it a little fishy that Trib Co wants to air Sosa's home comming? I see two reasons here: 1) They want to cash in on Sosa Ass lickers watching the game to see perfect Sammy 2) They want to show that the Cubs are better off without Sammy. I'd be a lot less skeptical just because the Cubs also have an ownership interest in the other channel they play on now as well. They would get their money either way.
  11. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ May 9, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) is there a way to get the exact #'s or are you just relying on the sox PR guy's? There is no exact way to get #'s without relying on the White Sox...
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 9, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) Exactly. I don't get the hugeeee fascination with Macowiack. With the way some Sox fans want him, you would think he was Vida Guerra. He's not that good of a player. In fact, he's an average player and a Timo for Rob M trade would be a lateral one. I don't think Vida could hit her weight in the majors, she would definately be a defensive specialist.
  13. Is it on-line somewhere, and who do we write to have you fired? Seriously, congrats and good luck Apu
  14. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ May 9, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) where'd ya get these #'s ??? They have talked about this a couple of times in terms of total attendance. Over the weekend, Brooks said they were looking at over 25K for two games, and over 30K for the other two. It isn't a stretch to imagine a sellout or two if we keep it going and get good weather.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 9, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) we will never trade with the cubs again, mark it Honestly with KW as GM, I would think we are more likely than ever to do a trade with the Cubs. Kenny has shown that he isn't afraid to make a deal, and if he feels he is getting what he needs from the Cubs, there is no doubt in my mind he will pull the trigger. I will say that right now I don't think we match up well, unless the Cubs go into meltdown mode. As of right now both teams would be looking to add major league capable players for this year, and neither would want to give up those kinds of players. Now if we get to the end of July, and the Cubs are 10 games out, these teams could come together.

  17. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ May 9, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) i still like the fact that if the sox go even the rest of the way they have 96 wins....I think they can do at least that. Actually if they go even they would go either 90-72 or 89-73 if they went one under or one over .500, as they are on an odd number of games played right now, FWIW.
  18. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ May 9, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) I came up with Pod Squad a couple weeks back.... and it was shot down do to the fact that the Padres Cheerleaders or whatever are the Pads Squad.... I am original pod squad inovator...just so yall know. ALL HAIL THE GREAT AND WISE MURCIE
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ May 9, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) Amazing!!! I'm actually heading out.. just had to clean up a few things from being gone last week but I'll be back tomorrow. Mike and Brian can give some of the details as it was an awesome night... the intro kicked ass!!! Great time, make sure you try the pork!!!! Best mob wedding I have ever been too.
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ May 9, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) I think the White Sox will work something out w/Burke and do their best to keep him in the organization. One paper said he'd likely stay with the org. and another paper said he will likely explore his options with another org. The way I understand it, designated for assignment means the Sox have 10 days to trade or release him outright. I think he has to go thru waivers again but I'm not certain on that because he went thru waivers just before the season. My guess is that he does have to clear waivers for the Sox to assign him to Charlotte. At that point, Burke can accept the assignment or choose to become a free agent, which is the exact scenario he went thru before (as did Ben Davis). The White Sox and Jamie Burke seem to have a very good relationship though, so it wouldn't surprise me if something got worked out and he's back in Charlotte. But certainly if another team wants to give him a shot (Toronto), the White Sox wouldn't stand in his way and Burke would likely jump at the chance to stay in the big leagues. Long story short ... don't hold me to any of this!! So to summerize... blah, blah, blah... I'm not sure. Thanks Jim
  21. This is the best start in Sox history, tied with the 1919 team. I couldn't tell you what other teams have done.
  22. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) So do Sox fans cheer Sosa for now not being on the Cubs or do we boooo him for still being what he is (and an ex Cub)? There will only be one guy who gets booed louder than Sammy, and that is only if Maggs ever is healthy enough to play.
  23. QUOTE(TLAK @ May 9, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) Anybody think Burke end up with the Blue Jays? With him Burke being designated for assignment, how exactly does that work? Is he exposed to waivers first? Or does he have to refuse the assignment before he can go somewhere else?
  24. Damn, why couldn't Brandon have come along in any year between 2001 and 2004? He had to pick the one year where we actually have a respectable staff 1-5. Congrats Brandon!!!!
  25. QUOTE(Spiff @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) The Yankees' compulsion to have to outdo everyone, especially Boston, has really hurt them lately. Contreras was terrible there; getting A-Rod from Texas meant that Boston kept Ramirez (WS MVP) and Nomar, and they eventually parlayed him into a deal for Cabrera and Mientkiwicz. Overpaying for Jaret Wright was stupid, signing Giambi has turned out horribly, and now they are old and slow. And locked into a lot of long term, bad contracts.
