New York Times Article on the SOX
QUOTE(southsider17 @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) I believe last year was the only time. And it was a very short amount of time, as Hernandez came back from injury, and not to long after that Contreras became a southsider.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) Latroy Hawkins? In a set up role, I would love him. He would never ever touch the ball in the 9th inning though...

Flubs fans chant "DUSTY SUCKS!!!"
QUOTE(JimH @ May 8, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) In Zambrano's complete game today, he threw 135 pitches. Wow. I suppose Baker felt he didn't have any other choice, but that is one heck of a lot of pitches. It'll be interesting to see if there are any adverse effects to Zambrano later on. Glad to see Dusty learned his lessons with Prior and Wood. Here comes major arm injury to stud pitcher #3.

History Repeating Itself
QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ May 9, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) Yeah, unless it's Oakland. :puke After what I saw on the road in Oakland this year, I like our chances against the A's. We played a competitive series out there, even with the A's having 4 extra guys on the field against us.

What is Volcker & the UN hiding?

QUOTE(Nokona @ May 8, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) You forgot the green tags. Please tell me you did. The irony of that is, I was thinking the samething while looking at your avatar.

Drive DaimlerChrysler to Work...
Its better than the old days at the auto plants/steel mills where you would get tires slashed or have your windows smashed out if you drove a Toyota or Honda...

Since Crede's Crew is dead...
Its gotta be the Pod Squad. That and the Mike Jackson kiddie corps...

Around The Majors
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 8, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gammons/story?id=2055896 Very interesting. I would be surprised if Borass is willing to play ball though...

All Star Team
Garland is a definate right now. Iguchi has a chance, especially if he keeps the average in the 330 range. AJ also could have a good shot if his number pick up. MB won't make it unless his era drops a bunch. Spod has a great shot at making it if his average gets up to about .300, and he keeps getting a steal every other game. A darkhorse is Hermanson if he takes over the closers job and gets a bunch of saves before the break.

Zaun update thread
QUOTE(ptatc @ May 8, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) While he was on the field he was moving all of the extremities and alert. The board and collar were precautionary and routine. The extent of the concussion is the key. In a situation that involves back/neck/spine type injuries you ALWAYS overreact. If there is a broken bone in the spine, one wrong move can result in paralysis. They did exactly what they were supposed to do there.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 8, 2005 -> 04:50 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap;_ylc=X3o...0507114&prov=ap Thanks Lilly. How did you fare in the game? :rolly They did have an opportunity to beat him, but Lilly just sucked worse.

And the amazing thing is that the guy is like this at every game. He always picks the kids, and always is giving out gum and sunflower seeds, while talking to everyone. He is a genuinely nice guy.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 6, 2005 -> 02:20 PM) Actually chunks of both still are, with much more in Alaska of course. But you'd never have approved of their purchase since they made the US government "the single biggest landholder in this country." which you consider to be bad. I'm just extending your logic. Then by your logic, there shouldn't be any cars, products, farms, factories, homes, or even humans to pollute and use the planet. The irrational exaggerations are just that, irrational.- Tim Worrell on DL for "personal psychological"

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) Not a big fan of Teddy Roosevelt and his legacy, huh? What do you think would have happened to a lot of those lands 50 years ago if the United States hadn't shown a rare flash of foresight and given them federal protection. And you'd have balked at the Louisanna Purchase and the Alaska purchase as well because, hell, what does the US government need all that land for anyway, right? The Louisiana Purchase and Alaska are still all owned by the US government? That's news to me.- Nat'l Forest Roadless Rules overturned
QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) I believe the answer to that is so those lands would be protected from development. Oops. And that is exactly the problem with this country. People think it is OK that the US government is the single biggest landholder and employer in this country.- GET RICH QUICK- Buy the Iraqi Dinar

QUOTE(mreye @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) There's 200 million acres of National Forest. Our kids will be just fine. I think a better question would be why does the government own 200 million acres of forest land?- Kangaroo Jack'd up
