  1. I will say one thing in Jaime's favor. He did everything the Sox have asked of him. He has played any role or position, and never complained about it.
  2. Trading Davis also makes sense as the Sox brought 5 catchers into camp for a reason. With AJ looking like he is going to start 110-120 games this year, there is no reason to have this many catchers in camp otherwise.
  3. Does anyone know if there is a place to get information on the B games? Is there a stat page or a box score spot for them?
  4. A lot of interesting things here. I do really wish that Frank got to testify. I think he would have come off with PR coup sitting up there with all of the rest of the scumbags, liars, and evaders. With all of the bad press the big fella has had this would have been a nice reward for all of the years he stayed on the straight and narrow. I also wish they had granted immunity to the ballplayers, because I really would have liked to seen these guys come clean. It became worthless to have Mark McGwire there, because he couldn't answer anything without it possibly getting him in trouble. Baseball's leaders came off as complete assclowns. Bud Selig gave some of the most self-serving answers of all of them. He didn't want this issue in public just as much as anyone else. He could have made this a public issue, or at worst, he has the ability to enact these kind of rules for the good of the game, without subjecting them to collective bargining. If he really wanted something done, he could have done it. And as a former used car salesman, he knows all of the backdoors. And finally with the whole using steroids arguement that went on, the "if you never did it, you don't know it" arguement is a joke. With that logic Soxtalk has one member that I know of who is qualified to talk about major league baseball because he is playing it right now. None of the rest of us should be able to comment about it, because we have never played, or are playing.
  5. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 03:22 AM) I didn't quite understand Juggernaut's comment either. I thought he was trying to get to the point that ground ball pitchers (i.e. Maddux) would probably have more success than flamethrowers (i.e. Wood) at the Cell because anything hit in the air has a chance of leaving the park. Basically, the less balls hit in the air at the Cell the better. Maybe Juggs needs to take after Sammy and bring his own interpreter.
  6. McGwire wouldn't be in trouble for Andro, as A it wasn't illegal then, and B wasn't banned by baseball then. Its the "other" stuff people are interested in.
  7. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) Actually, I'm looking forward to facing their top prospect. I hope we destroy him. Two years ago Guzman made the Sox look BAD in an ST game. He started and just pwned the Sox.
  8. QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) How awesome would a roof be over center? Pretty freakin awesome. Shea is like the polar opposite of the old Comiskey. Not only is there no wrap around the outfield, but you have no wraparound concourse. The scoreboard, is basically outside the stadium. That is my exact biggest complaint about Jacobs Field. That place would probably be my favorite park, but you can't walk all of the way around it. You can not walk around the LF bleachers unless you have a seat there.
  9. Awww, I feel so sorry for them and their $3.50 gallons of milk
  10. So does purjury give you street cred?
  11. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) Over 18? Don't use them either. Unless you want to look like a s***ty, cheap leather handbag by 40. Ick. Not to mention all of the benefits of skin cancer... :banghead
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 04:48 AM) There are a lot of members who have joined who were trolls or banned etc., so they'll still be in that members numbers, but we have 2000 real members of the site, if there's such a thing. IN addition to that, there was a glitch in signing up for a while, where you couldn't tell you were registered, and some people registered 10 or more times. Most of those names got erased, and are not included in the 2000 registered members, but did use up member numbers. Now that that is off of my chest CONGRATS TO SOXTALK!!!! The growth here has been incredible. It never ceases to amaze me that there are more incredible and knowledgeble Sox fans out there who are still signing up. Everytime I start to believe they are all already here, someone else pops up. In a stretch of about 2 1/2 years this site has grown from the original 128 members, to 2000 members and 600,000 posts by just word of mouth. We don't advertise, we don't spam, we just pass on the site to our friends and other interested people. That alone has self-perpetuated into what you see before you today. And just to prove how much we get from those 2000 members these are post totals that have been put up by posters here. 10k posts = 8 people 7k =16 5k =26 2k =87 1k =134 500=176 100=315 at least one post has been made by 1041 people. Even if you average the people who have never posted, each member of Soxtalk has an average of 300 posts to their name. If you leave out the never-posters that goes to about 600 posts.. If that doesn't tell you how much some people have put into this site, I don't know what does. It takes a lot of time to put that much into a site. Granted a few of us skew those numbers upward, but you get the idea. The really amazing thing to me is how well rounded the site is. There are tons of different opinions, view points, and reasons for being here. What truely shocks me is how much nonbaseball talk that people have chosen to bring here. With the diverse interests this has really become a White Sox fans community, instead of a just another Sox message board. And even with this, the knowledge that has been brought here of the Sox is second to none. The people on this board know everything about this team starting from the day kids have been drafted, all of the way up to the office of the chairman, and beyond. In short, you guys are the greatest. As Soxtalk celebrates 2000 members and 600,000 posts, all of us celebrate the premier spot for White Sox fans of all sexes, ages, backrounds, knowledge levels, passion levels, and anything else on God's earth you can imagine. Pat yourselves on the back for this one guys. You make this place. Every single one of you.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) Its good to be the King.
  14. Washington having no problems with Montana leading 28-13 after starting out with a 14-2 lead. There are about 8 1/2 minutes left in the first half.
  15. Utah rallied from an early deficit and has taken an 18-16 lead with about 5 minutes to play in the first half.
  16. BC has gone on a 16-2 run to blow open the game with Penn. 34-18 with under 4 to go in the half.
  17. BC leads Penn 18-15 at the under 12 time out in the first half.
  18. Iowa now down 23-5 and only 1-14 from the floor including 0-5 from 3
  19. Iowa has come out flat against Cincy. The Bearcats lead 16-4 with just under 12 to play in the first half.
  20. OU 84 Niagra 67 final
  21. Pacific 79 Pitt 71 final
  22. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) He said he wouldn't name names, but you can't plead the 5th except to protect yourself, right? Exactly, it only protects you against SELF-incrimination. You have to answer about others.
  23. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Raffy used great organization and Chicago Cubs in the same statement. I believe thats "lying under oath." THROW THE BOOK AT HIM!!!
  24. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) so he can play dumb play?
  25. Its free throw time it looks like.
