So, I just had my first significant interview.
Its all a matter of practice. Going into your first inview always sucks because you have no idea what to expect. Write down the tough questions you got asked and think of answers. Even have someone do a mock interview with you so that you can practice.

NYC makes good impression on IOC
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) Chicago to my knowledge has not attempted to get an Olympics. Also there is one problem, it is all of the canoeing events. For Atlanta they had to do some major construction on rivers to get it working the right way. Also US cities should almost always be the front runners for the Olympics, they are the only ones that can afford it, and actually can sell the thing out. Look at how disturbing the attendance for the Athens olympics was, and the fact that they could not get the construction done on time. SB They would have to build lots of facilities.... Also for the Pan-Am games Michigan City actually held most of the sailing events. I know South Bend has some world class canoe facilities, so that might be possible also.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) While we are on the topic of the Olympics…. Why doesn’t Chicago try and make a run at the Summer Olympics? I really believe that we have most of the facilities to pull it off. I don’t think a whole lot would need to be built. Plus, it has been held in LA, NY State (soon NY City as well), Atlanta, and Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City got the Olympics before the 3rd largest market in the US? They did have the Pan-Am games in the 80's, and that was supposed to be a prelude to trying to get the full olympics, but they never did do it.

Corey....I'm pretty sure he's Jesse Owens though he only has 85 speed. BTW its Jerry Owens... I think Jesse Owens would be a little faster than an 85 speed

Pope: Gay marriage is 'evil'?
QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) So you are expecting Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to run a food pantry? You never answered when I asked where is the money going to come from and who will deliver the services. Will everyone who receives a $50 reduction in their taxes now send it to social services? You're right I didn't answer.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Kiwanis isn't religiously affiliated. you're presupposing that every private "community" entity would be of religious nature. I guess we should all stop buying girl scout cookies and boy scout popcorn so that we aren't funding these evil private organization...

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) How do they prosecute Priests for this stuff from 20+ years ago then...?? I think most of that damage is being done in civil suits.

Molested....?
If it happened when she was that young, the statute of limitations is probably long since expired, so the police would be pretty worthless. All I know is there would be no way I would leave him alone with young children, and if I were her I would try to talk to the rest of the family about it.

Pope: Gay marriage is 'evil'?
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) Like I said, charity happens. But the question is always, How much? I don't doubt for a second that it would be underprovided if government stepped aside. Put up all the soup kitchens you want, that's hardly comparable to SS and Medicaid and early education/decent lunch funding. Safety networks will exist anyway in tight-knit communities & families. But it doesn't accord with our sense of a 'good society' that individuals without a (reliable) family or church community should be allowed to fall through the cracks. I'm not entirely opposed to reforming some entitlement programs. I think entitlements should be fairly limited. But I hope it never gets taken out of government hands. There obviously has to be safety nets now. The entire country is such now that they depend on the government when the worst happens. It is engrained in our culture now. But some of it is just ridiculous.
