Bears Eye Turner
QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) In four seasons working with the Chicago Bears, Turner coordinated an offense that improved every season, breaking the club record for passing yards with 233 yards per game in 1995 and producing a 1,000-yard receiver and rusher in the same season. The diversity of the Turner offense in Chicago found success under four different quarterbacks in Jim Harbaugh (1993), Steve Walsh (1994), Erik Kramer (1995) and Dave Krieg (1996). In 1994, the Bears led the NFC Central Division for much of the regular season and defeated division rival Minnesota, 35-18, in a first-round playoff game. That right there sells me on him. He won with crap. And right now the Bears have a whole lot of crap.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) When Garland believes in his stuff enough to say, "here it is ... hit it" then he'll step up into the quality major league starter club. Definately. You can just see it in his eyes most starts. He is hoping to get out hitters, instead of knowing he is going to get out hitters.

$4M cost to OK taxpayers to defend Nichols
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) Unbelievable! McVeigh was a child compared to this scum bag. I read all about him. He was bad news. Drugs, beaten people, murder conspiracies, & a major vendetta against the DEA&FBI. Lawyers are out of F'g control! I hope someone in OK protests against this. Call your local officials & complain, complain, complain! Do it so often they get sick to their stomach & change the law there. Hmm, but wouldn't that be denying McViegh his free speech rights to be heard by a jury of his peers with the best defense possible?

I was waiting to see who would be the first to start whining about the amounts of aid coming in. The head of the EU calls it a "beauty contest" :rolly http://www.kfvs12.com/global/story.asp?s=2...tType=Printable

soxfest announcement
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) When is the last time the Sox announced some great FA signing at Sox fest? Kenny Lofton is the last one I remember. And I think I was the only one in the whole place who booed.

Wade Boggs & Ryne Sandberg inducted to HOF
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) those are all first ballot guys -- Baines won't get in, but he will be an interesting precursor to Frank's chance at the hall. Looking at Belle's numbers and remembering his dominance, he could be a guy who gets in down the road. I think the sportwriters will hold him up, but when a new generation takes over, who could judge him without bias, I think he could make it.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) That would be very cool for locals - and very generous of you. Maybe us out of towners can get a free year's SoxTalk membership? But only for you Jim, and only if you send in $19.95 right now for a processing fee

I had an idea for a prize. Usually hotel guests get 4 free passes to each day of Soxfest. If this is the case, I will have 2 extra passes at least one day of the fest. I know this doesn't work for the out of towners, but how does that sound for a prize???

Earthquakes and Tsunamis in Asia - 225,000+ dead
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) Does anyone know what the TOTAL relief donation figure is in dollars from all sources combined? Governmental aids are about $3 billion. There is no real way to track private efforts.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) Illinois opens up big ten play tonight at home vs Ohio St., 8pm. How's the weather up in chicago. It has been like 34-36 degrees this whole time, so everything has been rain, which is nice. Glad i came down yesterday, or i'd never make it here today. Its snowing about an inch an hour, and blowing pretty well right now downtown. Ought to be a fun commute home for anyone driving.

Iguchi Close to Signing with Sox?
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) 2k5, Willie doesn't know how to bunt, he's awful at it and I think that's one of the reasons he's in ozzie's doghouse. He might not be One Dog, but Willie is a way better bunter than Uribe or Rowand.

Iguchi Close to Signing with Sox?
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) No way in hell should Ozzie start him in the two hole. Rowand has proved his value there and has earned that spot time and time again. Why should we give it to a guy when we can't even be totally sure that he'll tread water in the MLB. I saw nothing from Arow that made me think he was a #2 hitter. He couldn't get down bunts and you never saw him swing the other way. The sad thing is that the guy best suited to hit #2 will be on the bench in Willie Harris. He knows how to bunt, he takes pitches/works counts, and is a lefty who can pull a ball through the hole at first or swing the other way.

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Thank you, I signed up a couple of months ago, but just changed my name to avoid confusion. I was Winnin' Ugly, but there were a couple with very similar names so i changed. If you ever want to change something on your account, send a PM to one of us admins. That way you don't have to create a whole new account. As a matter of a fact, if you still want your old stuff, just let me know, and I can change the name on it.

Levine Reports
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) Well 5/75 is a better offer then 6/84 in terms of a per season basis. I think Houston has a better offer out there though, not positive on that though. For some reason I was thinking it was 6-96.
