White Sox and Iguchi far apart in Negotiations
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) Good call. I would think he wouldn't leave the comfort of home for his current salary. In the States, he is a small fish in a big pond. In Japan, he is a superstar on the rise. I think this additonal $1M his agent is asking for will get the deal completed in a hurry. Its one mil Kenny, pull the trigger. God its depressing to talk about an amount of money that many people earn in their entire lifetime, as if it were newspaper money

White Sox exact offer to A.J. Pierzynski...
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) Which may be correct, but I don't appreciate these negotiating tactics. Williams is acting as if we're the only suitors bidding for Iguchi. Publically, we are, but I'm bracing myself for another mystery club stealing Iguchi from our grasp. Our interest sure is a noticeable shift from Williams self appointed "flying under the radar" position. Personally, I find it's ridiculous to observe Mets and Boras debating millions/years, while White Sox are fretting over $600,000. I don't wish to be educated on the nuances of negotiations; just pay the amount to improve our ballclub. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) I'm so sick and tired of these posts. So, which is it? Do you want Kenny to inform the public on each and every move he makes? or do you want Kenny to fly entirely under the radar and ignore any comments made by other clubs? I don't get it. Kenny is operating as if the Sox are the only team pursuing Iguchi? How is that any different from any of his other "radar" tactics? If he were to go out and say he was in a bidding war with another team, then, everybody would jump off a cliff because we couldn't win a bidding war. But, if Kenny acts as if we are the only ones interested in a player, or shows any form of mild interest, everyone yells "radar." Right now, Kenny is negotiating with both AJP and Iguchi. He has gone public with one (possibily two) of his offers and has shown the Sox faithful that he is very serious about these two players. What more can we ask of him? Just a point of contention from me. KW hasn't changed his negotiating style. On Iguchi, it has been the Japanese baseball website that has been the source of US information on this process. It has been picked up by US sources. And as for AJP, it was AJ's agent who has been talking about what was offered, and confirming the White Sox interest. The Sox have essentially said nothing about either player.

The Case Against Michael Jackson
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Is it that bad..?? SG is blocked for me from work so I can't even get to it. It either will make you incredibly mad, sick to your stomach, or some combination of the two.

White Sox exact offer to A.J. Pierzynski...
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Interesting that AJ is basically pulling the same stuff that Maggs pulled, but no one is calling him a greedy SOB and wishing we don't sign him for it. :banghead Basically? Not even close. He didn't lie about a surgery. He didn't ask a team employee not to tell on him. He didn't turn down a long term extension. He didn't promise to turn over medical records, then didn't. He didn't promise to work out for teams, then didn't. He didn't claim to be working out, when he had just had a secret surgery days before. He didn't consult another agent a year before firing his own agent. But other than that I could see how it is close...

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Wow Rotoworld is getting pretty harsh. There are plenty of worse pitchers in the Major Leagues than Esteban Loaiza. Apparently Rotoworld also forgot how he was one of the best Yankees pitchers in the ALCS (which doesn't say alot). Thank isn't rotoworld, that's just Hi8is...

White Sox and Iguchi far apart in Negotiations
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) I remember reading that a deal with Arizona was agreed upon even if the RJ trade didn't go through, meaning that the Dodgers would trade for Koyie Hill or Snyder. That isn't what killed the deal. Green and AZ couldn't agree on a contract extension.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) How about who comes back first...Big Frank or Maggs? My money's on Frank... Side Bet...better numbers for first year after he comes back. Maggs will come back first, but he is not going to have a good year. I get the feeling that Maggs will start playing late in ST, and Frank will be back in June. But I think both of them will struggle this year because of their injuries.- Reed
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) Reed's gone. We've got Freddy now and I'm happy. In White Sox-ville you have to look at it this way. How many millions of dollars did Jeremy Reed save us by getting us Garcia at $9 million a year? Garcia is definately head and shoulders above Clement and Perez who got almost as much as Freddy. Geesh in the market $11-12 million per for 4-5 years isn't out of the question.- 'Fear Factor' Sued for Rat-Eating Episode
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) The $2.5 million should be more than enough for the guy to buy a replacement remote control so he can change the damn channel. In a related development, I will be initiating legal proceedings against Steff and against Soxtalk for MAKING me read the thread about the guy watching the people eating the rats -- during my lunch break no less. Hope you all have good lawyers. And I have nothing more to say about this. Unless it is a paid interview, of course. Not to mention the lawsuits against Apu for making my head hurt...- Most Improved Player In The NBA
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) The thing that bugs me about Eddy is his average of 6.5 rebounds per game. He has only had 5 games all season with 10 or more rebounds. These shooting guards also have a 6.5 average: Kobe Bryant, Quentin Richardson, Tracy McGrady, Paul Pierce, and Jason Richardson. Rebounding has always been the thing that pisses me off about Eddy. He is lazy on the defensive end. Rebounding is all about positioning and hustle. He seems to do neither...- Honest Opinion!
QUOTE(babybearhater @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) I honestly dont think we look that much better on paper when you compare players. I think we have to get hot at the end, or we will be in second place all the way through the season. On paper the pitching staff looks better at just about every spot. The hitting has lost a lot of power, but has picked up a ton of speed. It will be interesting to see how those two offensive factors balance out.- 'Fear Factor' Sued for Rat-Eating Episode

QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) Sox are offering 2 yrs $4 million, Iguchi wants 2 yrs $4.6 million. This according to the Score. If they are only 300,000 per year apart, this deal will get done.- Most Improved Player In The NBA
In all seriousness, so far I would add Eddy to that list. He has played tons harder than last year, and it shows. - Man divorces wife before claiming lotto prize
