Has the Waiver Deadline Passed?
Yeah maybe I didn't phrase that right... waiver deals can be done whenever. There is no end date for a waiver deal. But if they are not on a team's roster as of 11:59pm August 31st, they cannot be on the post season roster.

Has the Waiver Deadline Passed?
There is no real "deadline" But after Aug 31st no one who is picked up can be on the post season roster. That is why August 31st is so important.

Neal Cotts
That one I can't answer, Rex is definately your man there. And I didn't see him throw a forth pitch at all. As a matter of a fact I would say last night he at least 90% of his pitches were fastball's and changes. If he threw a 4th pitch he would have thrown it once or twice tops.

Frank Thomas
I seriously doubt not playing first base is the biggest problem. Definitely not the biggest.. but I'd gamble that it's a part. Frank likes to be part of the action. Not playing leaves room for the mind to wander. Lord knows he wanders enough as it is.. It is amazing when you look at two of Frank's splits. 1B vs DH and home vs away. 1B .352 BA 91 AB 8HR 22 RBI 22BB 22K 1.212 OPS DH .234 BA 316 AB 20HR 44RBI 53BB 65K .833 OPS Home .280 BA 200 AB 20HR 41 RBI 36BB 40K 1.043 OPS Away .239 BA 209 AB 8HR 25 RBI 39BB 48K .792 OPS There is obviously a link between him being busy or not having anything to between AB's, and how well he hits. Frank has some real issues staying into a game when he is DHing at an away park. From what I understand he stays fresh by going into the underground cages and/or taking swings from a coach. It isn't that he needs to play first everyday, it sounds like it needs to be done more often on the road though. Or an easier and more logical explanation is................hes pouting when hes at DH. The guy is a baby..... Personally, I just don't think he is mentally tough enough. But that is just MO.

Neal Cotts
Obviously I am not Rex, but after watching him, his change is by far his best pitch along with his fastball. He throws an occasional curve that he seems to have problems throwing for strikes. His fastball and change have a good differential on them, so that it looks to me, as a hitter you have a hard time adjusting if you guess the wrong pitch.

Stick a fork in this team
I just read something interesting about the Royals. Their top 4 winningist pitchers are all NOT on the the team right now. They are all either on the DL or in the minors after the send down of Elvis Hernandez. Lima is coming back tonight though, but still they are decimated, and playing like it.

Neal Cotts
He has a really rough 2nd inning. He had a lead off walk, and then got hit hard, and had thrown 54 pitches through 2 innings. But then he went and pitched great until the 6th inning when Arod who had K's twice homered off of Neal. I think the last 3 innings of the outing will give him confidence for his next time out.

Series closer: White Sox at Rangers game thread..
The 2-3-4 hitters of the Sox go quietly in the 8th against Ron Mahay... that is all that needs to be said.

ARod beats us again, as does Carl Everett in CF, letting the ball get past him for a 2 run triple on an ill-advised dive
