To top it off Rod Beck BEGGED the Cubs to take him back. He turned down a couple of teams hoping that the Cubs would call, finally he gave up and signed with the Padres.

Once again IF we are going to go with a four man rotation SOMEONE has to step up out of the pen, if not more than one. We can't have a four man rotation with just Sullivan, Marte, and Gordon pitching decently out of the pen. The middle relief becomes so huge, almost more important than the end guys, because if they aren't effective, it won't matter what the end guys do!

I don't agree. I think that the head to head play within the division has been more competitive than others, contributing to the leaders having poorer W-L records than the other divisions. Not really. The Tigers have been owned by the Royals and Twins. The Royals have also owned Cleveland. The Royals would be a .500 team if they were in the east or west. The Twins would be a .500 team if they didn't play the Tigers. The Sox are the only one of the top 3 who haven't feasted on the bad teams in this division, instead they have beaten up on the good teams in the Central. I do miss Siro. He was a gutsy guy who didn't have the most talent in the world, but that didn't slow him down for a second.

We were already up 3 runs in the 9th inning. He couldn't get anything done in earlier AB's with the game much more in doubt. Once again he is 6-40 in the month of Sept with only 3 extra base hits.
