  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:45 AM) If we get swept this series...then the season as far as I'm concerned ends against the Twins in Chicago. If the opposite happens...then we've got a real shot at making those 3 games at the Twinky dome not matter. Agreed. Let's get er dun!
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) The only team that I'm worried about is the Chicago White Sox. We can beat anyone when we play like we can. Agreed! I just hope we start playing like we can, beginning with the starting pitching.
  3. Let's get both Benson and Jones healthy and ready for Green Bay.
  4. I would be suprised if he took a minor league contract.
  5. Keep drinking that beer. 2 more games to go.
  6. Time for the White Sox to put the pressure on the other teams with some wins of our own.
  7. Now that we have taken a monster dive that started with the Red Sox Series right before the All-star Break, let's take a look at how the White Sox are still regarded on a national scale. Keep in mind that some of these rankings are more current than others. They are all from the past week.
  8. On his top 8 players to be moved prior to July 31st, Javier and Freddy came in at 7th.
  9. From the Wall Street Journal's Daily Fix
  10. QUOTE(valponick @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52329 This is the thread you are talking about. It was basically proven that Vazquez had been just as good or even a bit better than Buehrle up to their respective last starts. Neither of them have been unlucky, just inefficient. Both have been downright bad (in terms of their abilities) this year. Valponick, Thanks for this Thread link. I was wondering where the actually sabermetrics were for this discussion.
  11. QUOTE(soxpride77 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) I don't know how many more times I can hear Hawk say we are the best team in baseball. No, we're not, Detroit is right now. I really like Hawk, but I wish he would give some insight instead of spewing company lines. Does Kenny or Jerry prep him before he gives an interview? I almost wish we had Steve Stone in the broadcast booth, at least he is not afraid to tell it like it is. Can you imagine how entertaining it would be to have Hawk and Stone together. A cheerleader calling the game with an icy say it how it is guy supplying the color. The tension would be amazing anytime something went wrong and Stoney called it out while Hawk tried to cover it up. Plus, when the Sox are kicking ass, Stone would be cheering with Hawk at those points. Steve Stone is the model that all baseball broadcasters should aspire to become. Gosh, it sounds like I have a man-crush on him.
  12. QUOTE(Drew @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) Farmer is way too homer-happy. His favorite insight to add is what the score would be if who happens to be at bat hit a home run. Excellent observation! During that 19 inning game with the BoSox, I think he started doing that from the 3rd inning on. It got to be that everyone at the Backyard BBQ I was attending was racing to beat him to saying it for every batter.
  13. Found this blurb over at SportsbyBrooks. Some of you are probably already aware of the "Hawk" Site that they reference. Interesting to get another out of town perspective. Of course, most out of towners will never like a local broadcaster.
  14. 8:30 Jay Mariotti of the Chicago Sun-Times called in to the show. Mike wanted to get to the bottom of his vacation. This was from NorthtoNorth on the daily show log of the Mike North Show. Did anybody hear what he had to say?
  15. This is the first time in that it has been confirmed that there is actually alcohol in a Coors.
  16. I went with no trade. We have 2 weeks to see what is right.
  17. From the feedback that I hear, it sounds as if I am fortunate that I only get Hawk and DJ down here and the occassional national game on Fox or ESPN. That's too bad about Chris, but it is not surprising given the 2 games that I heard vs. Boston. Right now we need to rebound from that Yankee series!
  18. Last weekend I was in Chicago and it was my first time to listen to the Sox on the radio since Rooney left and Farmer became the play-by-play guy with Singleton. I swear for most of the time that I listened, Farmer did all the talking, providing his own analysis to his play-by-play. Singleton barely spoke. Are the games always like this or did I just catch Chris on a weekend where the cat had his tounge? What are the half-season reviews for these two?
  19. DHL ran a Big Ad in their Sports Section on Friday in naming Bobby Jenks the winner as well.
  20. Get Well Cliff. Class Act, but you must go.
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) And I do like being the Oakland Raiders of the MLB. We are far from being the Oakand Raiders of the MLB. I did not realize how much the Yankees were hated until I moved from Chicago. That being said. I like being #2, we try harder. Give us a few more titles and we will take over.
