QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) Been with the team the longest no idea, but been a public symbol/fixture of the team for the longest, that's fairly easy, the Hawk. True, I overlooked him given that he did not play here. Looking at announcers, how does Ed Farmer factor in when adding his playing time to his radio duties. Also, from the Dodgers perspective, I guess Vin Scully might have been around longer than Lasorda as well.

The Best Free Agent Signings can the ones that you don't make. Exhibit A: Kosuke Fukudome, Cubs. Four years, $48MM ($12MM per year). Signed December of 2007. I can't lie - I liked this deal when it was signed. The Padres and White Sox offered similar amounts.

Manny to the Dodgers finally.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 11:02 AM) what the heck happend to this guy Lack of Performance Enhancing Drugs due to the new testing program? Sure makes you wonder.

I was looking at the top 25 the other day. No teams from the Midwest or the North listed. You have to go down to about 35 to find Michigan listed. All the rest are from the South and the West. Not that this is a surprise with the weather down here being what it is.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) So if the baby takes after her father, it means his wife was in labor for 25, 30 minutes tops? ZING!!

Looks good. From looking at the calendar, I see we play the Cubbies the next 2 days in Las Vegas. Too late for a road trip?

It's cool to see Tommy Lasorda still around. Who is the White Sox Tommy Lasorda? What player/coach has been with the team for the longest? Perhaps it is a Sox or a front office exec.

QUOTE (toasty @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) i do not think that contractually, comcast can move it to the sports tier, that's one of the reasons they have a minority stake in the network. I did not realize that. Oh well, looks like I will stick with Baseball Tonight on ESPN again this upcoming season.

I did more research on the MLB network in Nashville on Comcast. In order to receive it, you have to upgrade your package to the Digital Preferred Package. I have the Digital Starter Package and the Sports Tier Package which actually includes 15 sports stations including NFL, NBA and NHL, but no MLB. They want more money from me before I can get the MLB Network. This is not what had been reported in the papers and I am a bit bummed, but not enough to pay more. How did they start with more subscribers than the NFL network currently has? Do others who have this network have to pay more too? What tier and package do you have?

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) Hm. I have Comcast as well. What's on your channel 410? My channel 410 is the Metal Music Channel. MLB is 279 on my box. When I go to it, it is a blank screen with a pop-up screen that says unauthorized. Keep in mind that I am in Nashville though and the channels are listed differently than in Chicago. I emailed Comcast, but I am not holding my breath. If we have any more Sox fans in Middle Tennessee who can weigh in on this, I would appreciate it.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) You watch. By April, they'll make it part of the sports package and charge extra for it. I wish that they would make it part of the sports package. I have Comcast in Nashville and I do not have the MLB network. I have the Sports Package and I get the NFL, NBA, NHL networks about 3 Fox Sports Network, Big 10 network, and probably 5-7 other sports stations covering Outdoors, Tennis, Soccer, Racing, and yet, no MLB network.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 03:35 AM) It's Ch.516 down here in the Peoria area, but it says not authorized for me, guess I'll have to update my plan Check it again. Until January 1st, it was only on in limited areas. The full rollout was yesterday.

QUOTE (GarlandFan20 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) I'm currently reading "The Boys of Summer" by Roger Kahn and have really enjoyed it thus far. It's about a writer's experience covering the 1950s Dodgers, focusing on some of the key players like Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, etc. The second half is about their lives after baseball. I know it is past Christmas, but I read this book back in high school. It really was a good book at is about life, but gets you into it with the baseball aspect first.

We better have a strong bullpen with that rotation.

My fondest memory of Karko was attending a game and seeing his batting average on the scoreboard as it read .071. I think this was in late May or early June too. Have to give him credit for perseverance.

QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) I am sure most fans have very similar sentiments towards their teams when they are winning or losing. Winning = Optimists declare a World Series Championship, hand out MVP/ROY awards, etc. Losing = Pessimists say I told ya so, see we really do suck, fire the manager, release all players in slumps. BLOW.THIS.TEAM.UP It's refreshing to see other teams have this attitude at times. While its the wrong sport, in Nashville, most fans of the Titans and VY always look at the world with rose colored glasses and think that their team can never do wrong. Glad to see the Twins fans are invested so much in their team that they seem bi-polar like us Sox fans do at times. -
Thanks for pointing that out so us out-of-towners can catch another White Sox game on TV.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) Came home for lunch today and watched the trade deadline special on ESPNEWS. Gammons and Phillips both commented about the positive psychological effect of getting a player at the deadline, even if said player isn't really needed. I'm still not a fan of Griffey playing CF, but I imagine that everybody on the Sox (outside of maybe Paulie) is excited about their GM adding a future-HOF bat to their lineup. Last year was a good example of how poor morale can sink a talented team. Maybe Griffey can come in and throw a tupperware party for the team.

Getting back to the original post, what are some good suggestions for a better song for the White Sox?

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 01:51 PM) TIME FOR BOERS & BERNSTEIN'S DAILY THRASHING OF THE SOX ORGANIZATION Maybe you can give us out-of-towners some updates on what they say about it.

Red fans are loving this deal no matter who they get.

QUOTE (RME JICO @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:05 AM) KW is trying to put a team together with the most combined career HRs. Then the rumors of KW talking to both Bonds and Sosa and bringing them on for the weekend series are true!
