For those of you who live in Chicago and have gone to view it, does the Trophy still have much damage from the time when George Constanza dragged it behind his car in the parking lot of Yankee Stadium?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) Haha you have the sports calendar with the birthdays. I have this. One of my rare non-White Sox Christmas presents

QUOTE(striker62704 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 12:04 PM) Historically when players are on the last year of their contracts they have phenominal years, then sign huge contracts and return to normal. I'm betting Contreras wins at least 17 games and Crede hits over .300 if he is healthy. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) While I generally agree iwth what you said, there are examples of guys like Edgar Renteria, Kevin Millwood (the 04 version) and a few otehrs who have struggled playing for the pressure of a contract. usually though, its coupled with injury issues (as is the case with the two guys I mentioned and Jamal Lewis in football) It would be interesting if there was some data to support this either way. In other words, can we say from past stats that a player in the last year of his contract performs 18% (or insert any number) better/worse than his career averages up to that point? We do know that some guys seem to excel and some guys seem to press to much and tank. Also, what other factors might be involved, does a guy who is 25 have a bigger increase than a guy who is 35 or vice versa or is that not a factor? We need some stat geeks to run some regressions on this.

Hawks home game on TV now
JoeBatterz replied to 3 BeWareTheNewSox 5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If you went to a game you would get into it. Hockey is the best sport in person, it really sucks on TV. Although the Hawks are now undefeated at home when it is televised in Chicago this season :-) -
Nancy Faust will be back - Part Time
JoeBatterz replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No question when Nancy goes, the organ goes. I doubt they will have an organist during the night games, which just proves it goes when she retires. Sad Day when that happens. -
I thought they had something for free still. The $10 must be for the whole paper.

For 2007, I do not see Darius Walker of Notre Dame coming out early. I am not certain he is that much of a pro prospect and he could use another year in school. More power to him if he proves me wrong this upcoming season.

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) I've actually been looking for any SNL Superfans mp3 for a few days...just audio, or video too. Anyone have one to post or a link?? A good version of Bear Down would be nice as well. Greatly appreciated. I do not have the mp3, but I believe that I have the script somewhere. Let me know if you are interested. DA BEARZZZZZ

Snubbed Gossage rips Hall of Fame voters
JoeBatterz replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in The Diamond Club
The Goose is right on with is comments regarding him and Sutter going in together at best and that Jim Rice belongs in while it WAS a joke that Kirby was a first ballot Hall of Famer. We need to hear more from the Goose. -
QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) not to dismiss your thread here. but i find that since the sox won the championship i don't really give a s*** anyone about useless polls like this one. last year i would have voted for the sox #1 for about an hour. *shrug* Instead of sweeping the leg, need to sweep that yellow font color.

Doesn't look like anybody has it yet.

Da Bearz fan in me says they win the Super Bowl easily. The realist in me is not even putting money on Sunday's game.
-
Once again, I am voting early and often. Probably the best poll though is the Vegas line where I believe we are tied for second at 6-1 with the Cardinals and behind the Yankees at 4-1.

Thanks for posting!

QUOTE(Ishmookie @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) what were the white sox last year before they won? i think they actually were the most miserable. Were we really more miserable than the Cubbies last year?
-
Looks like I missed it.

Vote early and often, that is also the Chicago way.
-
I think they jumped on Childress as the Packers were high on him too. Either way, Go Bears!

Not even close to being the top game. Closeness and excitement does not = excellence. Too many errors by both teams in terms of play calling and misuse of time outs and errors by officials and poor tackling. ND-USC from this year blows it away. Most exciting Bowl Game of the year, I would go with that because of the hype and talent on both sides, but neither school played their best. Maybe only Vince Young played his best and since USC never made any adjustments, we do not know that either.

Congrats to #54!!

Here's to Kenny!

ESPN the Mag does not generally provide recaps of the past week or two, since it comes out every other week. It is generally more of featured articles and previews. Would have been interesting to see what was in their Baseball Posteason Preview.
