  1. Just got back from the game...is it me or could Pods have totally caught that liner hit to left? And what was up with the inside-the-park-HR? Where is his head? Also, Linebrink needs to get his s*** straight.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) Agree, his arm is still better than average. And he is still decent (not great) on getting reads. But his range, his glove work, his footwork... all bad. Hawk said hes worthy of a Gold Glove this year. He wouldn't lie to me.
  3. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) I'll give you .667, how about that. At best.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) His fundamentals are garbage, his arm isn't nearly strong enough to make up for catching near every ball flat footed and most with his momentum moving in the opposite direction of the intended target. I've been saying this for years and every metric that attempts to quantify arm strength backs it up. I'm not saying he's a Gold Glove (not that it means anything anymore) RF with a cannon arm, but his arm certainly isn't poor. Just a choice of wording I disagree with. It's still quite above average.
  5. YES! QUENTIN IS BACK! I'M IN LEFT FIELD TONIGHT!
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 01:51 PM) I actually agree with you and I think his current reputation as a very good defensive outfielder would play a big role in such a situation. Dye will be 36 years old next year and is already one of the least effective fielders in the game thanks to his non-existent speed and poor arm, it's only going to get worse with time. If he's not open to a major decrease in RF playing time then there's going to have to be a change, at a certain point the Sox are gonna have to place a premium on defense, something they've failed to do in recent years. Since when does Jermaine Dye have a poor arm? Scott Podsednik and Dwayne Wise have poor arms. JD does not.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) He could kick anybody's ass on this board in a 1-1 discussion of strategy in baseball. Uh, he could. Excuse me? fathom is far smarter than Ozzie Guillen. He's never made a bad managerial decision in his life.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 10:17 PM) Depending on how you define "Right now", I have to fire back with Greinke and King Felix, who are putting up incredible numbers in the big league circuit, either season-long or over the last 6 weeks or so. Grienke hasn't been nearly as good since his amazing start, though he's pitched a few really good ones amidst some mediocre to bad ones. He's been giving up more unearned runs lately, and obviously if he's amongst the best pitchers in the game, he'd pitch over them a little better. I'm not a fan until he starts putting up consistent dominating numbers. Haren and Lincecum do that. King Felix I'll give you though. He's really been a forgotten stud. I seem to always forget about him. I'd put him 3rd after Lincecum and Haren.
  9. Watson absolutely choked. It was hard to watch. I know exactly how he felt on 18 when he had that putt to win the Championship (but to a much lesser extent). He just hit it instead of stroking it and came up way short. Happened to me when I had my first ever attempt at a birdie. I had about a 9 foot put to make and totally choked, hit it about 4 feet.
  10. Tim Lincecum and Dan Haren are the 2 best pitchers in baseball right now. And as we say in Serbian, "TAĆKA."
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 10:13 AM) Has to be Shawshank Redemption and Tommy Boy, there was a time when I knew all the lines to both movies.. To this day I go around asking people how they can be so obtuse. OBTUSE!?!?!
  12. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) What team doesn't have holes? (maybe NE) Green Bay has wr's, but they have more question marks than the bears. Their running game is a huge question mark to me. I'm not a fan of Ryan Grant at all, and they've lost some solid o-linemen over the years. Not to mention they just switched to a 3-4 defense.
  13. I'm gonna go ahead and make Retief Goosen my pick. He finished with an eagle on 18 today if I'm not mistaken, so that's who I'm going with. I'd love to see Watson with though.
  14. I'd REALLY love to have Holliday. Holliday and Quentin as our corner outfielders next year would be awesome. I'm also a big Dejesus fan because he can play all 3 outfield positions and is a lefty, batting him 9th in our lineup would be REALLY nice.
  15. So Becks has been using this song for a while now, eh? I thought it was some sort of joke the guys were playing on him...
  16. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 01:16 AM) And fill his spot with... Jon Link, Jhonny Nunez, Fernando Hernandez, Carlos Torres, Derek Rodriguez, Adam Russell... If you're not going to use him, send him to AAA and let him continue working as a SP.
  17. Didn't someone "call" this in that other death thread?
  18. 300 and The Shawshank Redemption. I've seen both over 50 times probably.
  19. Watch his 9 minute clip from Letterman. His Youkilis and Rickey Henderson impressions are priceless.
  20. QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 11:23 PM) Wow, glad I turned avatars back on.
