QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) So, Constitutionally protected First Amendment speech gets to be circumvented by people who just don't like it? God Bless America!" The Supreme Court already has shown that the concept of this "amendment" is antithetical to the liberties enshrined in the US Constitution. And the hypocrisy surprises you why....?

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) DEA's own judge Francis L. Young stated: "Marijuana, in its natural form, is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known....[T]he provisions of the [Controlled Substances] Act permit and require the transfer of marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule II. It would be unreasonable, arbitrary and capricious for the DEA to continue to stand between those sufferers and the benefits of this substance." Yeah.. but I bet he said that in a college dorm! . -

Ah, seeing that it is the Reverend Hatemonger Phelps, I can't say I'm surprised.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) You would think so--but unfortunately this particular conspiracy theory is bulls***. I'd be more willing to believe our government allowed the 19 hijackers to orchestrate their attacks than accepting a controlled demolition brought down both WTC towers. As would I, and I agree this Ph.D. with the demolition theory is off his nut. Out of curiosity, HOW willing are you to believe believe our government allowed the 19 hijackers to orchestrate their attacks?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) So did Tom Clancy in his books. So is he a "traitor" and a "conspirator" like the labels that are being insinuated here? I'm not sure I follow the line of reasoning or understand the question... Did Clancy also express his personal desire for a "new Pearl Harbor" Like PNAC? If he did, it should be remembered that Tom Clancy has all the pull, power, and influence of... well, of a novelist. Take a loook at the signatories to the PNAC doc – they weild quite a bit more influence than Tom Clancy. If you're merely suggesting that because some of Clancy's fiction has inadvertetently come close to the truth at times, well, he does his homework and has keen insights. And NONE of this is intended to suggest this particular 911 conspiracy theory, or any of the dozens of others resembles the truth. I'm merely pointing out that you invite scrutiny when you write, 'Gee, we'd really like to reshape the Middle East to our purposes using Imperialistic military might but it's going to be hard unless we get an national tragedy of epic proportions to justify it,' and then voila, you get your wish.
-
Yes, it cartainly would be a lot harder to dismiss any 9-11 conspiracy theories had PNAC not spelled out their intentions and their desire for a catylizing national tragedy so candidly and clearly.

Russ Roberts told The Associated Press by telephone from the company's headquarters in Irving, Texas. He declined to described Cooney's job, but was optimistic he would be willing and able to do any kind of evil s*** that needed doing. Ah..., I may have altered the report just a little (Hey, I pulled a Cooney!), but you should get the gist of it.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) I am pretty baffled that they reported the low Potassium levels in her blood but now don't think it was eating disorder related. As far as my limited knowledge on that goes, if she wasn't taking insulin, laxatives, vomiting, had an adequate diet, taking beta-blockers (for high blood pressure, migraines, anxiety), or didn't have cancer it's a complete mystery how it was low. From the sounds of whatever she was initially taken to the hospital with, I can't imagine them giving her anything that would radically decrease the level of K in her blood. And to be honest, low K is really the only thing that makes sense given the symptoms. Basically, the low levels of Potassium would have made basic neural firing and communication completely effed up. Without that being the cause, honestly, this makes no sense. What about an exceptionally high dose of corticosteroids? I don't know, just guessing.

QUOTE(moochpuppy @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) More than Spielberg, this is an amazing story by one of the best writers ever in H.G.Wells. A man well before his time. Or was he...? That time machine he built sure came in handy.

Shows how much I know, in that I stupidly assumed the dissenters would all be southerners. Maybe it's a 'foot in the door' thing keeping them from signing on – fear that any sort of apology could open the door to future litigation aimed at securing reparations..... I don't know.

Oh my... I will not be reading this one I think.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) "He also said she was blind, because the "vision centers of her brain were dead." That's a big deal there, correct? Since her folks went on and on and on about her looking at them, being able to recognize them, etc.. You are quite correct.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) my teddy ruxpin is still in our garage.... with the doors closed and the car on and a hose from the exhaust into the vehicle where Teddy is bound and gagged, I assume?

The autopsy largely exonerates Michael Schaivo from the abuse allegations the Schindlers were leveling against him. The likely reason for the coma is no more and no less explained after the autopsy – a potentially lethal osmotic imbalance brought on by an eating disorder. As far as the possibility of ever making any kind of recovery – I think the finding of a brain mass that was 50% that of a normal brain pretty much answers that.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) Seriously, why couldn't the Sox sell upper deck seats for $5 a piece? That's a long-standing argument and I think both sides are valid – the better to fill the seats versus 'cheapening the product.' I know one of the attractions of Cincinati's new park was that they were going to include a $5 dollar seat section even though other seating areas went for the saame kind of premiere prices seen at other parks. I don't know how it has worked out for them, but I'm definately on the $5 UD side of the argument. With JR at the helm, though, it's a fanciful suggestion at best anyway.

I need to bone up on my Book of Revelations chronology, but is this supposed to happen before of after the plagues of locusts?

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) Lock em both up! They obviosly havent had perfect records! Yep. That's the way to do it! :headshake Finding a germ line point mutation that occurred after the ovum split is a needle in a haystack, and the needle may not even exist at any of the points on the genome they have probes for. The better strategy is to do some old-fashioned good cop/bad cop bluffing and tell each of them that the technology pinpointed the guy (even if it didn't), the other brother fingered him, etc., and get the confession out of one or the other of them.

Current expert opinion is that this is the earth's way of railing against the reuniting of the Spice Girls and Tony Orlando and Dawn. I actually don't have much insight on if and how all the events are related - other than the above 'Gaia hates bad music hypothesis.' Even for those in the field there are tremendous gaps in the knowledge because events are usually only being recorded from great distances away. The upside of all this activity, including the December tragedy, is that the lack of information is getting noted and efforts are being stepped up to get seafloor Global Ocean Observatory System (GOOS) networks in place. These will monitor tectonic/seismic activity simultaneously along all plate margins and allow synthesis of informartion at the global scale of resolution. Big dollar projects - and to think it only took ~ 200K deaths to get things rolling.

I was unaware of the fight to stop the Till excavation. I thought his family was behind it at least. I'd have to agree on the surface it makes no sense, unless there is some aspect of the mythos of the civil rights movement that might be turned on its ear by the findings. I'm merely speculating, but I would not put that sort of thought process entirely past Jesse Jackson, whose own national presence largely began with a possibly apocryphal 'Dr. King died in my arms' opening act.

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:21 AM) Im gonna give the movie a 9.5 outta 10 the acting in Batman Begins makes Star Wars 3 look like an 8th grade rendition of Romeo and Juliet. Christopher Nolan is awesome! An 8th grade rendition of Romeo and Juliet makes some of the human acting in EpIII look like an 8th grade rendition of Romeo and Juliet.
