QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) I think the people accepting these trips and gufts are worse. What kind of a person accepts all these trips from someone they know has a problem? Michael Jackson Entourage... ... Paging the Michael jackson Entourage...

"And five, now this is the most important, Rat. When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV..." And of course, in the very next scene they cut to, the Zeppelin song they are playing in the car is.... Kashmir, off of #%#@*&*!! Physical Graffiti and NOT Zeppelin IV. Can you feel my pain?

It's excessive and it's sad, but she admits she's got a serious problem, is guilt-ridden, and at least she is buying a lot of things for other people. Mostly, I can only feel sorry for her, since none of the insane spending is making her happy and she's probably going to lose it all very soon anyway. But the bottom line is that the settlement money didn't come with any string attached as to how to spend it so I'm not going to pass any kind of judgement. I hope she gets it together.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) The safe way is to let her browse your collection and let her pick something. If she puts the radio on some easy listening, smoth jazz bulls***, you might wanna fake a back cramp. Now if she goes for 'Back in Black', get ready to handle business. What if she picks... the theme from the Benny Hill Show? I have decided that 'Who's Sorry Now?' is a pretty poor choice.

Above and beyond the both torture tactics issue and the venom of the detainees toward the US, when only a handful of prisoners out of close to 600 have obtained any type of legal proceedings since the first arrivals in 2002 there is an issue. Until the Supreme Court decision a year ago placd the onus on the Bush administration to justify the continued captivity of each enemy combatant, almost no detainees were allowed access to lawyers. That giving a handful of lawyers security clearance has since then become one of the key reliable sources of abuse information is somewhat ironic, but the Court decision is the corrent one I believe. Getting past the shell game of reminding us all the Geneva doesn't apply to illegal enemy combatants, John Gibbons' (a Nixon bench-appointee btw) legal briefs suggesting the US Constitution does not allow for the creation of a prison beyond reach of the judiciary are still valid. Whether the place is the Gulag of our time or not (and I'd agree that is hyperbole), Gitmo doesn't exactly shine a favorable light on America's commitment to human rights or due process.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) Yeah, I guess 13 pages of this did no good. That thread sucked.

The new Speed Racer Geico commercial is really good - especially the long hold on Speed's blank expression after Trixie tells him she just saved the money. I like most of theor commercials, but the older one with the baseball manager lifting the pitcher stands out a a really good one too. Tiny House was very funny and Cavemen always = quality entertainment of course.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) I believe they are planning on wearing throwbacks, but I haven't heard anything about a reunion. There will be a reunion event at the Saturday game, which is the same one they are wearing the throwbacks for:

This just in: No other baseball news matters now except for focking Cubs-Red Sox news. This is what's going on around the league today according to mlb.com – nothing, apparently, except Cubs-Red Sox all day, all night, all the time. I had heard that some AL pitcher cruised to his 10th win of he season last night, but for the love of me it seems not to be newsworthy enough to get out of the shaedow of the Cubs/Red Sox mystique. :fthecubs :fthecubs

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 07:28 AM) Rowand and AJ playing with sharks. That's JUST what we need. :headshake Time to rewrite the acceptable activities clauses in ARow's contract.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) I guess he got tired of making a new question everynight. Or maybe his computer is having problems like he says everytime a question is late. Yeah, i was still waiting for part III of that last question.

QUOTE(zach23 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) A hotdog, a chicken fajita Hot-Pocket, 3 chocolate chip cookies, some chips and salsa, an ice cream sundae cup, a mouthful of whipped cream from the can, two Mountain Dews, two cherry Pop Tarts a small piece of Entemanns crumb cake and a Peach flavored Twisted Tea. Just not very hungry today, huh?

QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) Side two, Abbey Road. Preach On. And Tex's earlier 'protected by a silver spoon' ref comes from there and not Sgt. Pepper, of course.

I'm another one born into it. There are pictures of me with my Dad at games from maybe '74 but I can't really recall going to games until '77 when I was 9-10. That was a good year to become White Sox-aware, and that being such a great season (until August at least) pretty much sealed the deal.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) I am reading a thread where Johnny Damon's twig and berries are being discussed...somwhow I can't stop laughing at that thought. Sounds more like twig and canteloupes... -
Jambalaya (sausage, chicken and seafood) and a cup of New England clam chowdah.

Novarro without question. Although in his short (1/3 inning?) stint in 2003, I got to hating Paniagua about as much as anybody could become hated in that span of time. He hasn't been heard from in MLB since, right? -
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) Thanks for scanning your book, Jim. Somebody's gotta help you sad sacks out.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) You know what's sad? Everything that's being suggested here is common sense! Come on, people. Common Sense is such a paine these days. [/pull pin, throw joke grenade...]
