Kerry has a 52,000 vote edge in FL right now.

Did you know there was a movement in the 80s to give Lake County (i.e. Gary) to illinois? That's Indiana for ya.

They were the first on the board for Ford in 76 and Dole in 96 too. Big deal

I said, I'm not an ex-con. It's legal to have gay sex now! I mean... how about that local sports team?

I'll call you, give me your number. Signed, A Kerry volunteer.

I just found this somewhat moving. Most people in the guard never expected to be in this situation, and they are dealing with it. He did not identify himself, so for all I know it could be faked. But it got to me anyway. Look dude, think what you want. I Report, You Decide.

It depends on the state. I think in a few its automatic restoration of voting rights. But not being an ex-con, I can't really tell you.

I don't disagree that a devolved government has better options, but I think that at the very least the size of the Electoral College should be increased and states providing something better than a winner take all system. This is, after all, a national election.

There are a few states (less than five) where Convicts are allowed to vote. The only national standard for voting is you must be a citizen age 18 or higher. The convict, ex-con standard varies by state. If you are an ex-con and you'd like to vote - contact your local board of elections and ask if you are eligible (assuming you are registered).

I think the GC saved the Union. But we are a different union now than we were in the 1700s. We aren't viewing ourselves as separate states anymore, our federal system has been consistently weakened. States rights just aren't respected anymore and it hasn't hurt our meta-state because we have become Americans and not New Yorkers, Michiganders and Illinoisians. Our president has so much power that it shouldn't be up to only 538 people to pick the president. It should be up to everyone. One person, one vote. No more. No less.

If the state really cared about keeping the ten commandments, the same judges who fight to keep the rules posted in the courts wouldn't be sending anyone to their deaths via the gas chamber, electric chair or a needle full of poison.

Wal-Mart treats their employees like crap. My employer treats me like crap. I don't want to be treated like crap and I doubt they do either. So the golden rule applies, I don't support companies who treat their employees like crap. I shop at Meijer. Or I did when I lived in the mid-west. Now I shop at Kmart.

From dailykos.com, an admittedly liberal collection of diaries and blogs.

Kerry between 286 - 311, Bush between 252 - 227.

Place the correct quote with the correct leader. 1. In response to this tape from Osama bin Laden, let me make it clear, crystal clear. As Americans, we are absolutely united in our determination to hunt down and destroy Osama bin Laden and the terrorists. They are barbarians. And I will stop at absolutely nothing to hunt down, capture or kill the terrorists wherever they are, whatever it takes. Period. 2. Earlier today I was informed of the tape that is now being analyzed by America's intelligence community. Let me make this very clear: Americans will not be intimidated or influenced by an enemy of our country. I'm sure [name] agrees with this. I also want to say to the American people that we're at war with these terrorists and I am confident that we will prevail. Your mission: who said what, and who sounds better?

Things aren't muddy enough in this story yet, so here's another angle from the International Herald Tribune. Looting at AlQaQaa in Nov 2003

OK, then I will. Clinton put together a bi-partisan panel to study the most effective ways to combat terror in the new millenium. Ruddman and Hart were in charge. They couldn't get Congressional Republicans to return their calls before 9/11. Bill Clinton wanted to go after Iraq in 1998, Congressional Republicans said no. They were too busy chasing a cigar and a dirty blue dress. Bill Clinton tried to retalliate against OBL in 1998 after the Embassy bombings. Congressional Republicans said "wag the dog." Because they were chasing a cigar and a dirty blue dress. During the Clinton watch, there was less violence in the Middle East. The intifada really escalated in late 2000, when it became obvious that the US was pulling out of the process under the new Bush administration. In 2000, Clinton repeatedly talked about trans-global terror being THE biggest threat to security, and Sandy Berger was quoted as saying to Condoleeza Rice that terrorism is the biggest threat you'll face. But, I guess you're right, he never thought about any of this stuff. If only Bob Dole had been president. On September 10, 2001, George Bush threatened to veto a defense spending bill that would have rerouted about 100 million dollars from the multi billion dollar missile defense shield to counterterrorism purposes. His messenger: Donald Rumsfeld.

That was Osama Bin Laden. How is that an endorsement of Kerry? Oh yeah, and how is Bush feeling about Iran and Libya endorsing him?

What I read about the conference, and I don't know for sure, mind you because I'm at work was that the guy specifically said he did not remove the barrels in question on the video and didn't look for or remove HMX. So what does this prove? I don't know if its "making political hay" to ask the administration tough questions about their claims on what happened to the 380 tons but here are a few. Why didn't you record what you destroyed or moved? Why didn't you notice IAEA seals? If you destroyed it, why did you say the Russians took it? If you destroyed it, why did you say the Iraqis moved it? If you knew all this stuff was here, why didn't you secure it?

I just don't know anymore. I want Wednesday here now so we can forget all this noise and my head can stop hurting.

Well, damn. This story just keeps getting more and more confusing. Apparently a soldier will be talking about how he removed 200 tons of weaponry from Al QaQaa within the hour. If true, its a definite relief. But still a concern that the Pentagon came up with four other stories before this one. So if true, I was wrong.
