Well, that's true and not true at the same time. Germany did offer some aid that was rejected by the US. In fact, post US war, the Germans offered to train Iraqi security forces (police) and were turned down. The point is, it seems like countries are finally coming around to helping out the US on Iraq and they take a stance like this, somewhat out of the blue. It doesn't help. All it does is further alienate people who could help us the next time we need it. After all, France and Germany could always retaliate by pulling their troops out of Afghanistan, saving about 10,000 US soldiers from that other warzone.

Well, they weren't nuclear weapons at first. Someone decided to add radiological agents after the breakup of USSR, when it was no longer a Soviet republic. They were actually originally created for climatological purposes (creating rain)

They need to bring back WCW and ECW alliance battling the WWE. That was promising but scrapped quickly. Kinda sucks now, I'll give you that.

I think there's a lot about this to be said. If the Bush administration is that concerned about terrorists not having the tools to do their job, why isnt recovering these things a priority? There have been warnings for years about this kind of s***. Instead, we're too busy wrapping Iraqi villages in barbed wire. Priorities, I guess.

Bonsai Kitty is awesome. I have three!

The context seems a little weird to me. "I don't rap to dead presidents, I'd rather see the president dead" - its almost like a battle line then any kind of threat. Then again, why use resources on real security threats when the Secret Service investigating an unreleased written line on a rap album by Eminem is so much easier?

Huh?

My sig kicks ass too. Bea Arthur-less, no less.

Not true, Bruce McCullough directs and produces film now... when you saw the weirder featurette skits on KITH, that was all Bruce. Scott Thompson is generally a stand up now, I think. Kevin McDonald is hysterical - but he can't choose a funny movie to save his life. He was in a real terrible Godfather spoof a few years ago with Dom Deluise. Ick.

A dozen markets pulled the show round the country. Don't know why, it wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement for Mr. 1/2 percent either.

Well, as much as I hate to, I hope for somewhat of a recovery next year - enough to keep Notre Dame an independent. I like seeing tradition in college football.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force on DVD. There is a God!

Holy s***, I can't watch that movie anymore. There's an Armadillo in his damn trousers.

The Heart's Filthy Lesson was from the album 1. Outside, a renewal of the Bowie/Eno collaboration from 1995. It is also the sessions where Afraid of Americans was first recorded, you can find the original of it on the "Showgirls" soundtrack. There was supposed to be an instrumental followup called 2. Inside. Never released. Strangers When We Meet is the clunker on the album, a tack on from Buddha of Suburbia sessions that doesn't fit with the rest of the dark album. Hello, Spaceman, a huge highlight.

I haven't heard the Young Lion stuff... but somewhere I have a bootleg of Tin Machine live at La Cigale in 89. Kick ass live version of Maggie's Farm. Bowie has made some of his best music since Low/Lodger/Heroes in recent years. "The Heart's Filthy Lesson" and "Earthling" are really really underrated albums. I also liked a good portion of the Buddha of Suburbia soundtrack album. Speaking of Bowie, have you seen the commercial they ran briefly for his last album? It was actually a Vittel water commercial for Europe they ran all summer. Weird.

I disagree with the Tin Machine pick. That was actually a really good record, I thought. I'd rather hear that record than anything he made between that record and Let's Dance. And Reeves Gabreels does rock. St. Anger is a good song. Too bad the rest of the album is so bad. There's a reason nobody's heard a second single from it. Album that should never have been made: Sid Vicious - Sid Sings... if you don't believe me, I'll sell you my copy. Korn is ok, but nu metal is so over. They should stop chewing on Faith No More's worn jock. Really.

I've bought so few albums... and some of these might be 02, but here goes. 5. Junior Senior - D'D'Don't Stop The Beat - Like the JSBX but with samplers, sequencers and a sense of humor. John Spencer lost his around 1998. 4. Electric Six - Fire - Awesome cover, great first effort by an up and coming Detroit act. 3. Outkast - The Love Below/Speakerboxxx - Need I say anything? 2. Blur - Think Tank - A great picture of a band in flux, perhaps at the beginning of self-destruction. Sweet Song, one of the best post breakup songs ever. 1. Sigur Ros () - Beautiful Icelandic band. Just beautiful. And no, I can't describe it.

I think the thing with the Tariffs is mostly that the EU was getting ready to impose huge tariffs on the US on a lot of other things.... the biggest trade fight since bananas.

Well, I have heard the other release of Across the Universe "Nothing's Gonna Change My World". Still prefer the Spector version. I don't hear or feel the same grit on this CD. I just don't. Maybe its the feeling that Paul is doing this for his ego or pocketbook. It just doesn't feel right.
-
When are they releasing mine? Been asking for months now!
-
I disagree that Paul McCartney's version is closer to the original intents of the disc. It's whitewashed most of the grit. Listening to the versions in Anthology alone are more complete than Naked.... check out the stuff in the bootlegs that arent in the official release. If you're gonna show the dirt, show the dirt. Don't remaster and hide the stuff that Paul didn't like. And Spector made Across the Universe perfect. Period.

I used to be a college music director, back in the day. I just don't dig Low... or most of the similar genre. I love a lot of Indie rock, the problem is too many of these bands and their albums are so f***ing smug and self-important that they just don't do it for me. That's all. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the Emo genre, but there's some good s*** to be found I'm sure, it just takes some digging. I'm becoming a bigger and bigger fan of Sigur Ros myself.... and Ill Mitch is the future of Hip Hop, yo.
-
I remember having to play Low's cover of "I Started a Joke" in college and wanting to put a gun to my head every time it got on the air. Feh. Low. Bands like that shouldnt exist. Ever.
-
Don't you mean Paul McCartney's molestation of a broken band's record? Not only did he take the veneer of Spector off the CD - but he also took away the grit and studio talk that would have made "Get Back" special. The only track on the CD with the same grit the original album still had before Spector, was "Don't Let Me Down." There's a reason there was no re-release until Lennon and Harrison were dead.

I missed a lot of this thread so let me say this. There's a difference between getting a deferment and going awol. People who defend Bush's going AWOL attack Gore for having a bodyguard in Vietnam. Well Gore honored his commitment, Bush didn't show up to Guard duty for a year... and still hasn't given the same answer as to why more than once. God, I'm defending Al Gore for Christ sakes... Al Gore! What's wrong with me?
