QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 25, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) Just for clarification, Bossard is the only staff member we have that is the best in professional sports. Are you forgetting about one Herman Schnieder?

Fire Greg Walker !!! Seriously, How much credit does Greg Walker get for this? Maybe he is useful after all.
-
I would like at least partial credit for starting this thread and for the Sox playing better recently. Last year I started a thread similar to this, I think that it may have been on the Future Sox board the day before they started their 25 - 5 run or whatever it was.

I try to avoid Phil Rogers, but I did happen to click on his article in the Tribune today and thought that he actually had something interesting. First, he mentions that K.W. only plans on going with a six man rotation for another 2 weeks or so. I do not know if this is true, or how he knows this, but it could lead to some interesting trade possibilities. Has anyone from the Sox said this? If, big if, Peavey is back, what do you do? He mentions that both the Yankees and Red Sox are desperate for pitching, along with other clubs. Which one of the 6 starters do you trade to bring back some needed offensive help. This could turn into an even bigger trade if you include one of our offensive starters for maybe a leadoff hitter if Pierre continues to struggle. I would probably go with Jackson as the one to move, but he would command the least in return. Danks would be a strong possibility too.

Quick question about our FA players

Mr. Rogers has an article in the Tribune, along with other baseball writers from around the country about dangerous ballparks where he makes this statement. "more bad things seem to happen near U.S. Cellular Field than Wrigley Field in Chicago." You would think that he is either choosing to ignore the crime rate around "Lakeview" (a nice way of saying lying), or he is too lazy to research the actual stats. Let alone not mentioning the falling concrete. Mike DiGiovanna, Los Angeles Times, then adds this gem. "U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, home of the White Sox, seems to attract its share of far-too-raucous fans. Who can forget the father-son team that ran onto the field and attacked then-Kansas City Royals first-base coach Tom Gamboa in 2002, and the fan who came onto the field and assaulted umpire Laz Diaz in 2003?" Failing to point out that one of these was actually committed by a Cubs fan. I usually make a point to ignore any article penned by Mr. Rogers, but I had already clicked on it before I realized who the writer was. He once again proves to me that he is a sorry excuse for a sports writer.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 1, 2011 -> 09:24 AM) Jerry Krause has left his position as international scouting director to join the D-Backs. Had the position for less than a year. Lolz. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/...s-for-arizona/ International talent? Who needs it. This seems like a big story to me, am I missing something? Why is Krause leaving, I thought that him and JR were buddies?

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 07:37 PM) it's just a call out to push Morel a little, from what's reported, they'll take Morel and his plus defense with Alexi on the left side over Teahen and some decent O and terrible D I sure hope you're right. I value good defense, and that does not include Mark Teahen anywhere on the diamond.
-
Ozzie states in tonight's Tribune that he's been impressed with Teahens' 3rd base defensive improvement of late. Just because Teahen made one diving stop.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) Apparenty Humber has learned a cutter, and has featuring it today, and did really well with it. Attaboy Coop! -
QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 9, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Beckham has had a few mental lapses in the field. At least when I've watched. What seems to be Beckams problem in the field? I was under the impression that he should be a better fielder than he's shown. Is there a chance that he's dissappointed that he's not playing shortstop?

Kudos! Here is a father who knows how to be a dad. A little tough love speaks volumes.

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread

I checked this site several times a day on average and also got nagged at several times a day for being on the computer too often. Posted occaissionally. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 07:52 PM) I always kind of assumed Crede was a good guy. I remember when the Sox were thinking about extending him and he wouldn't fire Boras like a few other Sox players did, people were giving him s*** about it. It makes sense though - not because of the debilitating back injury, which we couldn't know was coming - but because the guy wanted to be financially secure for the rest of his life, and he had the best agent in baseball to get him what he needed. I actually commend that. I agree with you. While we will never know for sure, I think that if Credes back never goes out and he becomes a perenial all star, he probably would not of been long for the White Sox. I doubt that the Sox would of even come close to Boras's demands.

Mark Buehrle talks about the future after 2011

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) I wouldn't be so sure about that. I can't see him pitching for the Mets, but the Yanks? I could see that. Plus doesn't his contract get extended another year if he's traded? I think he'd fit in well with the Yanks or the Cardinals. I would think that Mark is the type to not want to put up with New York & all that goes with it. I would bet that its too far awy from Missouri as well. -

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 09:06 AM) I say call up the Yanks to see what the Sox could get for him. Maybe they could land one of the Yanks prized pitching prospects to fortify the rotation in the future AND get some big time payroll relief this year. I know that's not "all in" but it could be better for the organization in the long run. Except that Buerhle has full no trade rights and I would be pretty sure that the Yankees are on his "no way"list. -
Who is the best player on the Sox right now?
balfanman replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Based on pure knowledge of the game and "baseball intelligence" I went with A.J. -
A. L. Gold Glove S.S. - Derek Jeter Maybe I shouldn't use teal?

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) One-time high-ranking Chicago White Sox executive David Wilder today pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges that he solicited hundreds of thousands of dollars in kickbacks from impoverished Latin American prospects hoping to make it in the Major Leagues. via Not sure if it needed it's own thread. I'm not one to get into name calling and I have never met Dave Wilder nor have I heard much about him. That said, unless he is being set up and taking the fall for someone else, in my book he is one "scumbag" of a human being. How far has he set the White Sox organization back with this? He has at least drug the reputation of the White Sox organization through the mud. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 9, 2011 -> 10:54 AM) They really don't need to worry about rushing him. The injury is healed. The only part of the rehab left is to regain strength in the shoulder. As he continues to throw his velocity and endurance will tell them when he is rady. There is no "gutting it out" or "being tough." The injury is gone. It the layoff and subesequent weakness that needs to be dealt with now. PTATC; Thanks for all of the encouraging information. One question that I have though is how is the cool, or even cold weather in April or May going to effect this muscle?
-
I like Peavy's work ethic and it looks like he really wants to be ready for the start of the season. My big concern would be the cooler, or even downright cold weather that we can get in April. If he tries to pitch and can't get warm, wouldn't that cause the muscle to tighten and place undue stress on it? I wouldn't mind him waiting until the warmer weather comes just for that reason alone.
-
You just never know in basebal I'm not saying it's going to happen, but what if the Yankees start to feel their age, not to mention their not so good pitching. Boston has injury problems again. The Rays have a down season, & the Blue Jays have growing pains. Again, not likely that all of these things happen, but possible.

I really wish that we could find some way to get rid of Mark Teahen.
