  1. Pitchers don't miraculously regain velocity that they didn't have at the beginning of the season, it just doesn't happen. The Sox(and Koch) may have wanted it to happen but now that push is coming to shove it appears reality is finally starting to set in. The hope now(at least my hope) is that Billy has finally decided to add a cutter and they want to give him some minor league innings to work on it, thus the reason for the DL and the subsequent rehab assignment. If all goes well, Billy can come off the DL in time to be included on the playoff roster. If not, his DL stint will extend beyond Sep 1st and the Sox will have an injury spot to play with. I also hope that his rehab will be at B'ham so we can get updates from Rex on how he's doing.
  2. Yes, was kinda surprised he didn't even get an appearance.
  3. Maybe the idea is to have them both pitch on the 5th starter day and hope to get 6-7 good innings from them combined.
  4. LOL!!!! I was gonna make a similar comment about if Gary Coleman was to be our new PHer off the bench.
  5. Indeed, in fact we've scored 18 runs the last 2 gms with only 1 HR(and it shoulda been ALOT more), I think most of us woulda thunk that was impossible for this team. Now if they can just keep it up and carry it into the post season.........,.
  6. $3.5 mil isn't a whole lot of $$$$ for a vet starter. That's a pretty safe risk.
  7. Another 2 games on this road trip is fine, the next 2 games on this road trip is not.
  8. ???? I would agree with you on the Aug 6th game but he had plenty of rest on the 3 run effort in the game before that and the blown save in the game before that. I'm not complaining about Flash, just want him to get his shiite back together here for the stretch run.
  9. Right!! We have another 6 weeks of GIDP with the bases loaded, that's plenty of time to show what White Sox baseball is all about!
  10. 4-3 was my goal for this road trip 5-2 was the hope, last night only made it harder to get either but not impossible. A loss tonight though puts us in real bad shape.
  11. No excuse to give up 4 runs in 2/3 of an inning though.
  12. I agree, that pitch was way too close to take. It should've been fouled off. Also, Carlos taking that first strike right down the middle, you've gotta be ready to swing in case he lays one that fat for ya.
  13. Well it's hard to say til we see him pitch but their(Buehrle and Cotts') styles may be very different. Even if they're similar they could compliment each other if Cotts doesn't throw a cutter, that could make Mark's cutter even more effective. Btw, there is a seperation if Neal pitches the last game of the Texas series and Mark is pitching the first game of the Yankee series and does it really matter if they are throwing back to back vs the Tiggers?
  14. It seems you're the one who injected the "tie goes to the runner" into this when what you quoted was a tie at first base. Btw, "Tie goes to the runner" IS a judgement by the umpire and thus is covered by the rule book. tie goes to the runner is not a judgment made by the umpire Then who would make it????????????

  16. So then you are saying since it is not in the rule book it is physically impossible for a ball to reach the fielders mitt as the runner is stepping on the base?
  17. Well that is yet to be determined but if it doesn't go well he'll still have time to go out and make a deal to correct it.
  18. No, judgement of the meaning of the phrase "Tie goes to the runner".
