QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) No! Not Masset, Aardsma, and Owens!!! Perhaps the Marlins still have interest in Brian Anderson. Anderson, Masset, Aardsma, Owens, Hall, and Gio for Cabrera and Olivo! don't hold me to this, but I swear I read somewhere that the Marlins are going to non tender Olivo... cant remember where I read it at, and if I find it I will post it here. I found it: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basebal...0,4213182.story

QUOTE(daa84 @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 10:58 AM) if the yankees would pick up a portion of damons contract i wouldnt at all be surpised to see us go after damon for left and still pursue on the of the FA CFs...that shores up a whole lot in terms of LF, CF, leadoff, 6ish hole hitter....a team like this wouldnt be half bad damon fields thome konerko dye hunter AJ SS ? Richar im just not sure wed have the flexability financially to do it...it would depend alot on how much $$ we could get from the yankees...but if we can get lets say 5 mil per year....subtract the 5 from uribe (wed have to find someone young and cheap to play SS) then i could see it happening....or a garland for bill hall swap could seem very reasonable...sox would save not only on uribes contract but garlands while filling SS why not a trade for Furcal... I know there have been people here talking about Furcal. That would leave you with a lineup of: Damon Furcal Thome Konerko Dye AJ Hunter/ Rowand Fields Richar

The Braves have a major announcement scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. It's expected that longtime GM John Schuerholz is stepping down and being replaced by his assistant, Frank Wren. Schuerholz took over as GM in 1990 and the team won 14 straight division titles before struggling the past two seasons. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7322496

QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 11:19 PM) I guess I am ready to see a team like this next year: 1. Eckstein, SS 2. Fields, LF 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Dye, RF 6. Pierzynski, C 7. Crede, 3B 8. Rowand, CF 9. Richar, SS BENCH: Jerry Owens & Andy Gonzalez - "dynamic bench duo!"; Lucy - C; Pablo Ozuna - INF; Alex Cintron - INF ROTATION: Buehrle, Vazquez, Garland, Danks, Egbert/Floyd/Gio/Broadway BULLPEN: Jenks, MacDougal, Thornton, Linebrink, Logan, Broadway/Floyd/Sisco/Aardsma ------ I don't want to see a team like that, but I am prepared to. What about Jose C.?

Phillies for obvious reasons, but my 2nd team has always been the Padres. So I am pulling for a Phillies vs Padres NLCS, if I get that, I don't know who I would root for.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) They were having technical difficulties on comcast. So it was a screen with the logos and them doing essentially radio. It came on in the bottom of this inning. I see, thank you. Being at work with no TV or Radio, seeing your post confused me.

Is Hawk and DJ doing radio? If so, why?

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 06:45 AM) Hunter seems to be the talk around town in most of the newspapers lately. I would love to get him at the right price and years.. Like a 4 year @ 12mil a season, maybe with a 5th year option. But we only do this if we trade Crede and Contreras. Hopefully the Angels do blow it in the first round and we can swing a deal. Crede and Owens for Figgins. And we still have until August 31st to dump Contreras, hopefully Milwaukee or St. Louis gets desperate and decides to take him and half of the remaining of his salary. An outfield of Figgins in LF, Hunter in CF, and Dye in RF, ME LIKEY! Now all we need to do is get the Angels to make that trade....

Jim Thome coming up clutch yet again!!!

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) Thome is second in the AL in OBP and he hits with power. Yeah, his act is getting really old. They need to bring in someone who never gets on base. When did I say he NEVER gets on base? I just agreed with the guy that said him not doing well in the clutch is getting old. -

QUOTE(juddling @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) Heck...watching that 9th inning yesterday...I'm still having trouble believing that a saw a Sox player get down a successful Sac. bunt. LOL, thats true. That wasn't the first time Josh has done that either. -

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 10:31 AM) I know I'm gonna get strafed for this but again last night it happened. Does Thome ever drive people in in the clutch? This is getting old. I am with you man! His act is getting pretty old. But there is nothing like the solo home run. -
QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) Because hitting in back of such greats as Corey Patterson and Kevin Millar, sure hurt his chances to do damage? Alright, In a fantasy world Miggy would be great here. But reality is, Baltimore would ask to much, We don't have the money, and we have to many holes to fill in order to have him be worthy here.. Agree? If we find a way to get Jose $10 Mil off the books, it would be cheaper to have Tejada and Floyd then it would to have Uribe and Jose.
-
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 08:25 PM) Yeah, that's the dump rule for you. Of course we would get nothing in return(Not complaining if it were this exact instance). WOW I did not know that, thank you for clearing that up for me.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 08:05 PM) 1.) That GM is going to have a hell of a time working out a deal with any other GM after doing something like that, he'd piss off an awful lot of people. 2.) If say, the D-Rays claimed every player put on waivers, Jose Contreras would be on a flight to Tampa right now and the Rays would be just a wee bit f***ed financially. I don't get the Jose part. So if a team claims a player, in this case Jose and the DRays, the White Sox can just say have him, and the DRays would have to pay the rest of his contract?
-
Nothing at all...
-
Tejada will never play for the White Sox... this was probably just to block other teams from getting him.
-
When did we call up Carlos?
-
Sweep the Tigers and then Cleveland... My thinking in this... Why the hell not?

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 11:38 AM) I think people are forgetting the Sox already have their DH replacement when Thome retires/leaves after his contract is up. He's at 1B. Very good point, and I was thinking that as well... but don't you think Paulie can play 1B for another 2, maybe 3 years? Sign Dye for a 2 or 3 year deal to be the DH, when his contract is up, move Konerko to the DH. Would this be realistic?
-
I will most likely get grilled for this, but I would LOVE to have Dye back... AS THE DH. If there is any way to trade Thome (I know he has a NTC) we should do it. A team like the Angels would love to have him with Vlad in there lineup. I dont know what we could get for Thome, but I would think we could get something pretty darn good for him. Thoughts?
