Sox & Angels Talking; Crede/Garcia for Santana/Figgins
SoxPride56 replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) I'm just going to throw my ridiculous, pure assumption in this thread. It clicked when this site was having trouble loading due to traffic and I jumped to espn.com and saw that Red Sox are reportadly nearing a Manny deal. Article didn't mention White Sox, in fact I don't think any AL team is rumored, but hey... just throwing it out there (and, no, likely not a possability, I agree) I was thinking the exact same thing. White Sox are not mention, but KW always flies under the radar, so who knows. All I know is people wanted something to talk about, and now we have it. But about the proposed deal, having Santana and McCarthy in the same rotation, will be a very good thing in the future as well as the present. -
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) I read on many occasions how much KW loves Bedard. Or remember last offseason how Baltamore wanted Jose Contreras and Uribe for Tejada?!? I wonder if those talks have regained any momentum..... I expect a big impact very soon as Turkey Day is quickly approaching... Didn't KW aqcuire Thome friday, the day after Turkey day last year? If I remeber correctly it was the Wednesday before Turkey Day, I could be wrong. I remember reading it at work, and we were off of work on that Friday, but like I said I could be wrong.

Why does it seem like everyone wants to get rid of Iguchi? He has been nothing but solid since he came over here. Yea, there are times his head is up his ass, but which player on the Sox hasnt been like that one way or another? Iguchi is one of the best 2 hitters in baseball, and getting a guy like Young will only make him better if he moves down to number 6 or 7 in the lineup, a spot that would make him comfortable.
-
Hell NO. Otsuka setup for the Padres, so I figured he could go back to becoming a 7th/ 8th inning guy for us. I am just trying to find ways to improve the bullpen, and imo, Otsuka would go a long way in doing so. Now the people we would have to give up for him, that might be another story.
-
If there were a way to get both Young and Akinori Otsuka from Texas, that would be great. Would Texas trade Akinori Otsuka?
-
WOW, get Pierre to go along with Ichiro and AROD, the lineup would be set. CF-Ichiro 2B- Iguchi SS-AROD DH-Thome 1B-PK RF-JD C-AJ 3B-CRECE LF- PIERRE OK I think it is time for me to put the X-Box controller down LOL.

Any realistic way to upgrade the starting pitching?
SoxPride56 replied to Rowand44's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 07:53 AM) Not even close to being realistic. Zambrano is one of the leagues elite starters, you're not getting him for an above average but not great prospect. I'd kill for Carlos Zambrano by the way. I too would love Zambrano. Yes he has his moments, but so did AJ before he was on the Sox. Zambrano wants to win, and thats who I want on the Sox. He most likely isnt even available, but what would it take to get him if he was? -

SoxPride56 replied to Rowand44's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know I might get killed for saying this, but what about Mussina if we can get him to sign a 2 year deal. That way after the contract is up, Broadway and Heager will be ready, if there not ready before then. Is Carlos Zambrano available, I know he is a FA after 07, so maybe we can get him? But would the Cubs want to trade a young, all-star to the White Sox, and what would the Sox have to give up in return? Would you trade Fields for Zambrano striaght up if we can sign Zambrano and Crede to long term deals? Maybe that isnt realistic? Is there any way to get Lackey from the Angels? Would Garcia, Vazquez and Cotts be enough to land Lackey and Shields?... Peavy? Hudson? The way I look at it, is we have 6 starts, atleast one has to be traded, would that really improve the rotation that much? I don't think it will. Right now, I think you can pencil in Buehrle, Garland, and McCarthy into the rotation, but who will fill the other holes? -
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Hey SoxPride56 I like your lineup; my only beef is: do we want the Brian Anderson experiment back? I'm not sure I can live through another season with the nine hole. I was thinking the same thing as I put that, but you have to belive with Anderson being so young and cheap, he will be back for atleast the start of the year. IF he doesnt do well, I am sure there will be a backup plan, like Sweeney or someone. I just hope if Anderson does struggle, we do not put Mackowiak in CF, that didnt work in 06, and why would it work in 07?

My view on this has changed about 10 times, but I think, getting Furcal from the Dodgers would be a better fit for this team. We need a leadoff hitter, and a upgrade at SS, along with pitching. That is going to be hard to get all in one offseason. Getting Furcal would solve 2 of the needs. He would leadoff, and if i am not mistaking he is a really good defensive SS. Then we could turn our focus on the most importaint thing in winning baseball and that is pitching. I would love to sign Walker to be the lefty out of the pen, and SPier to be the 7th/8th inning guy to go along with Thorton and MacDougal. Heager could be the last man in the pen, unless KW trys to package a couple starters for a better starter and bullpen arm. Is that even possable? I would love a lineup of Furcal--SS Iguchi--2B Dye--RF Thome--DH Konerko--1B Crede--3B AJ--C Anderson--CF Pierre--LF Make a move or two with the pitching and were all set. Just my 2 cents.
-
The only way I get rid of Anderson is if we get a leadoff hitting CF in return by the name of Ichiro.

Mark Buehrle will have a great game. He is due, and not a better time then tonight. -
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...sp&c_id=cws CHICAGO -- Prior to tonight's game at Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Charlie Haeger, left-hander Boone Logan and catcher Chris Stewart from Class AAA Charlotte and purchased the contract of outfielder Ryan Sweeney from Charlotte. Haeger, 22, was 14-6 with a 3.07 ERA (58 ER/170.0 IP) and 130 strikeouts in 26 games (25 starts) with Charlotte this season. The knuckleballer leads the International League in wins, ranks third in IP and fourth in ERA and strikeouts. Haeger made his only major-league appearance in a start on May 10 vs. the Angels, allowing five runs in 4.1 IP in a losing effort. He was optioned back to Charlotte following that start. Logan, 22, was 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA (16 ER/42.2 IP) and 11 saves in 38 relief appearances with the Knights. He began the season with the White Sox, going 0-0 with a 5.68 ERA (8 ER/12.1 IP) and one save in 12 games. Prior to the 2006 season, Logan had never pitched above the Class A level. Stewart, 24, batted .265 (72-272) with 17 doubles, four home runs, and 28 RBI in 89 games with the Knights in 2006. He was ranked by Baseball America as the Best Defensive Catcher in the Sox organization in both 2004 and 2005 and was a Southern League All-Star at Class AA Birmingham in 2005. Sweeney, 21, hit .296 (133-449) with 25 doubles, 13 home runs and 70 RBI in 118 games with Charlotte in 2006. The left-hander ranks ninth in the IL in average. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native was ranked by Baseball America prior to this season as the No. 3 Prospect and Best Outfield Arm in the White Sox system. Sweeney was selected by the Sox in the second round of the 2003 draft. With the moves, the White Sox have 29 players on the active roster, and the 40-man roster stands at 38.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) Hmmmm. I look in the Tribune today and this is what the blurb says: " The Tigers called up lefthanded pitcher Andrew Miller from ClassA Lakeland, where he struck out nine in five innings.........The 21 year old was ....first round pick in the June draft after going 13-2 ....at North Carolina." Nowhere does it mention his contract status, his having signed a special deal, nor that he must be called up or else. I think it was safe for me to assume 5 innings of work might be rushing the guy. You know what they say when you "assume"

Seat Locations Available for Post-season
SoxPride56 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
OK so how wierd is this. My dad shares a 27-game plan with my uncle and there normal seats are in section 533... not bad seats at all. But here is what we got for the playoffs, i cant remember the rows ALDS: Section 150 ALCS: Section 507 WS: Section 151 Trust me, I dont have a problem with any of this (I am just glad that I will be in the park), but why did we get a MAJOR upgrade for the ALDS and WS, but a MAJOR downgrade for the ALCS? -

There was no typo. I thought that was wierd as well, and called my ticket rep, and she said it was one ALDS or two ALCS games. -

The Ozzie game plan goes like this: either you get 1 ALDS game or 2 ALCS games. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) Nothing. One month is not that long. Just mention it and tell her you've really enjoyed it, but that's enough. Most guys won't even do that. Anything more might freak her out. Be careful that you are not looking at it as a six years plus one month anniversary, cuz it's not. Didn't mean to be buzz kill, but I'll tell ya like it is every time. Thanks a lot... thats the responce I wanted, I like when people tell me how it is. I want to do something because she does mean a lot to me, but like you and other people have said, it is only a month. I was thinking just go to dinner and a movie. And just tell her how much I have enjoyed the last month... nothing too special, but just to let her know that I do really care about her QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:44 AM) They've known eachother for 6 years already so they have a history. If this was brand new I'd definitely agree with ya. You have a good point Steff, we have known eachother for a while. I am thinking jsut keeping it simple, dinner and a movie... Is that something you would agree on, or would you still suggest the flowers?
