Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Yeah, but supply and demand. Manaea is the best arm available on a rental deal. I think something like Burger as the main piece and Adolfo as a throw-in would be fine. I struggle to come up with a 2nd piece that I'm willing to trade but leaning toward Thompson or Dalquist. Maybe Burke.

Because it's a twitter rando.

Gray has a club option for 2023.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Gray has two seasons of control. Manaea has one. Big difference. Manaea should get something back slightly worse than Lynn.

Lucas and Arbitration
They should offer him a 6/142 extension. 17M in 2023 and the Wheeler deal for his FA years.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Sure, but is there enough room on the 26 man roster for all of them come May?
-
Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
I'm not, he's the victim of a numbers game and because he's the guy with the highest potential and is the youngest player, it makes sense to get a year back and give him MiLB at bats, as he's not played above HiA in the minors.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Charlotte. Hahn kind of alluded to that earlier this spring. There just aren't enough ABs with the Sox.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
I think Sheets will be the everyday DH. Burger goes in the Manaea trade.
-
Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
We're not. We're acknowledging that he struggled with RHP last year and there are limited ABs for him at the MLB level.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Hopefully the Vaughn/Sheets in the OF experiment is over.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Haseley and Cespedes could fill in IMO. Cespedes was impressive in ST. If he keeps that up in Birmingham and Charlotte, we might have something there.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
That's what I think too, but we'll see. I think the MLB ready piece will be Burger though because the Sox have nowhere for him to play and they seem to like Sheets at DH. As long as the pitcher isn't Vera, I'm fine. I can live with the cost if they get Manaea re-signed. This is Winning Time.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Or they could decide to give Sheets a shot in MLB and send Vaughn to Charlotte. Vaughn struggled mightily with RHP last year so a season in Charlotte could be beneficial.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
I think it will be Burger instead of Sheets, and a different interesting pitcher instead of Thompson. I do not think they're going to have to give up that many quality pieces.

Crochet having Tommy John surgery Tuesday
IMO as the 2nd lefty they will throw out Aybar/Severino/Sousa (whichever one performs the best) until the TDL and go grab a rental LH reliever then.
-
Crochet having Tommy John surgery Tuesday
They also picked up a LH flamethrower named Yoan Aybar on waivers recently IIRC.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
I was with Ray Ray and Balta on Kimbrel. Beyond surprised that the Sox were able to get a valuable piece for him. Good for Hahn, I was wrong.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
I think they end up with Manaea now and he signs an extension in July

Vaughn won't get enough PA as the weak side of a DH platoon. He should be starting every day in Charlotte.

Forget RF and 2nd - what about SS and CF?
At least the ball exploded off 2017/18 Moncada's bat when he made contact. Now......not so much.

Crochet having Tommy John surgery Tuesday
No you're right. He's a rhp.

Crochet having Tommy John surgery Tuesday
hasn't Crick looked solid?

Crochet having Tommy John surgery Tuesday
He's never getting out of the bullpen now. If only the Sox could have restrained themselves in 2020.
