Umm, Roman, try to recall the first game against the Cubs at Wrigley when Olivo was up with the bases loaded in the first inning. Does anyone remember what happened with that at bat? I sure do. Think real hard, Roman. And then you say that we didn't lose 2 in a row to Detroit? You're right -- we got SWEPT by them. How old are you? You are making yourself look like complete fool, buddy.

Chicago's Bruce Levine - Has Inside Information
SoxRule replied to Pastime's topic in Pale Hose Talk
HSC, if you're referring to Lowell, the Marlins have already come out and said that he will not be traded. Unless they were just lying to everyone. -
I don't care what the final score is as long as we win. It would be even sweeter if KC loses.
-
Ha, ha!! You have me laughing my ass off.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing Roberto Alomar on the Sox, but I can't see how he'll help bring more fans to the Cell. He's really not a big name player. He's probably got more of a bad rep than a good one, with his recent play not being up to par and the whole spitting on the umpire incident. We got a huge name in Albert Belle a few years ago and I don't remember there being any big difference in attendance then.

I have a friend who used to be a bouncer at the Leg Room about a year or so ago and he said PK and some other Sox players were at the Leg Room every Sunday night that they were in town. It sounds like PK really likes the bar scene. Of course, he's only 27 years old so there's nothing wrong with that.

Damn, maybe if I would have just met him sooner. Just kidding. I actually don't think I'd ever want to date an athlete. Based on all the rumors, it seems like most of them are unfaithful at one point or another. There's too much temptation out there for them. Everytime my boyfriend or husband went on a roadtrip I wouldn't want to have to wonder if they're being loyal to me or not.

Thanks for all the info, Steff. So is Paulie's fiance originally from Chicago or did they meet in AZ and he moved her out here? I've always been a big "fan" of his, too bad he's engaged now.
-
Since you two seem to have a lot of inside info, I'd like to ask you some questions. This is actually sort of an extension on the Konerko topic, when Steff mentioned that he was having a house build a few blocks from the park. My questions are: 1. Why is that such a bad idea, since it would cut down on a ton of commuting time. And with road trips and such, it's not like they live there everyday anyway. Which brings me to my next question: 2. What do the players do with their houses in Chicago in the offseason? I remember reading that Konerko is from Scottsdale, AZ and spends his offseasons there. 3. I also read that PK got engaged. Did he get married yet? Could that be a source of distraction for him? Thanks for the input....
-
I remember reading his chat on ESPN in the offseason and he said he was engaged, but I don't know if the marriage took place yet or not.

Oh my God, are you seriously that f***ing stupid? Now you sound like Scammy Sosa, playing the race card. I'm almost at a loss for words, that post was so moronic.
-
Why does PK have a big mouth? Huh? Except for the ONE incident last year (in which The Whiner deserved it anyway), what else has Paulie had a big mouth about? Get a f***ing clue....... :fyou

First of all, there were plenty of posts that blamed other players for yesterday's devastating loss: Jimenez, Crede, Lee and Garland all were blasted. Secondly, teams have a "closer" for a reason. Those are the pitchers that are supposed to hold a lead or prevent the other team from scoring in the last inning or two. How many f***ing times has Koch blown the lead for us this year? WAY TOO MANY times for a supposed "closer". We're supposed to be able to breathe a sigh of relief when our closer comes in because we know either the game is won or the lead is safe. We don't have either. When Billy Koch comes in everyone immediately gets an ulcer because he NEVER has an easy inning. He definitely shares in the blame for last night's loss and in my opinion, his closer's job should be in jeopard until he gets his s*** together.
-
I know, Rex. It's so tiring listening to the same bulls*** over and over.
-
Konerko does have that much class, if not more, so give up the tirade against him about what happened last year. It's already been explained multiple times that PK didn't call Frank out for not playing well.....he called him out for being an asshole of a teammate by missing pre-game warmups and things like that. So get a clue next time before spouting off. :fyou

I was at a game not too long ago and there were a lot of boos. I've also heard them on TV too. I actually would hope the fans wouldn't boo him because he is one of the most personable guys on the team and you know he's trying his ass off. I'd say the same thing about Mark Buehrle -- I would never boo him but I also don't like the fact that he made some idiotic comments about the people who did boo him. You might feel that way inside, but don't say it to the media where the fans will hear it. In case Mark has forgotten, he's playing FOR the fans and we're the ones paying to see him perform.
-
Why would you boo one of our coaches? Show some class and pride in the organization when the entire baseball world will be watching.
-
I've heard the boos loud and clear and I'm quite sure PK has heard them too. And how was that an unfair slam at MB? Did he or did he not say that the fans must not know anything about baseball? You can't even say he said it out of frustration because the next day in the paper he was asked if he regretted saying that and he said no because he didn't think he said anything that bad. Nice comments there, Mark.
-
Konerko gets booed after just about every plate appearance but you don't see him making stupid comments like "These fans must not know anything about baseball.....I'm trying real hard up there." I believe Paulie will turn it around and will always support him. I'm sure everyone here loved him last year when he was almost single-handedly winning games for us. Sure, he tailed off in the 2nd half but he did have an injury that contributed to that. This is the first year he's really off.
-
Don't look now but Minnesota is rallying. It's now 8-5, they still have 2 on and no outs and the tying run is at the plate.
-
These "don't give up" threads always pop up when we've won 2 in a row, but then it seems like we'll lose 3 of the next 5. A couple of good wins here and there isn't enough to make me a believer yet. Especially since Minnesota keeps racking up the W's, too. I hope the Sox prove me wrong, though!
-
I highly doubt his comments were taken out of context for 2 years in a row. And I'm not sure how else his comments could have been construed. Whether he meant he wanted to play for St. Louis now or in the future, he still said it.
-
HSC, the fans care! And I'm sure his teammates care too. Saying he wanted to play for St. Louis once was bad enough but to say it again the very next year was just plain stupid. It's an insult to the fans (those of us who actually care of this team) and to his fellow teammates. I think you would have a different opinion if you weren't so close to Mark and his family. If the exact situation occurred with any other player, like D'Angelo Jimenez or Paul Konerko, you'd probably be just as pissed as we all are. Mark was wrong for those comments, plain and simple.

Ha, ha!! That's an awesome quote by Rick White. He may suck but at least he's got a good sense of humor.
