  1. babybearhater, if you really believe what you say then it's probably your hatred of the Cubs talking more than common sense. I hate the Cubs too but I can at least assess their team logically. You say Wood has never won more than 14 games in a season? Have you seen the types of teams he's been on and how little run support he's received? On a team with a halfway decent offense he could easily win close to 20 games. Like jackie said, when he's on he's almost unhittable. And Maddux was still able to win 16 games on a Cubs team that was offensively challenged for the most part this past year. Prior and Zambrano are pure studs, no doubt about it. The Cubs have an awesome rotation, much better than the Sox. I hate it but it's the truth.
  2. Best rotation in baseball? It pains me to say it but with a top 4 of Prior, Zambrano, Wood and Maddux, the Cubs have one of the best starting rotations in baseball. In fact, I might put them as the #1 rotation. Even with the injuries to their pitching last year they were still able to insert pitchers (like Glendon Rusch) who did a helluva job. The Cubs pitchers, 1-5, gave them a very good chance to win every single day. Of course that could never happen but how awesome a feeling would it be if every day we threw a pitcher out there that we knew gave us an above average chance to win? Getting RJ would be a nice start for the Sox........
  3. Showalter was right, Ozzie questioned him and was proven wrong.
  4. Um...isn't that the kind of statement that's made about OUR attendance and we get pissed? I wouldn't be making fun of any other team's fans when ours don't show up unless it's half price night or fireworks night or some other great promotion. But any other weeknight or weekday and we're lucky to draw 12,000.
  5. What'shisname didn't stick with Paulie for 3 months. Paul rode the bench quite a bit. The problem was that Daubach sucked too so Paulie was able to get more at-bats than he would have if Daubach had stepped up.
  6. Jerry Manuel used that tactic with Keith Foulke in 2000 and Foulke was untouchable that year. That might not be a bad plan.
  7. If the Cubs make it to the World Series then the Sox may as well up and move because if the Sox are an afterthought in this town now, they'll be non-existent then.
  8. If we are so damned pathetic, why are you hanging out with a bunch of Sox fans? Because he (or she) is a Sox fan like the rest of us. I'm a diehard Sox fan but I completely agree with sox-r-us. Sox fans are truly horrible in supporting their team. When the Sox went to the playoffs in 2000, they were still lucky to draw 20,000 on a weeknight in September when they were getting close to clinching the division. Same thing happened last year. When was the last time we heard any free agent, any player for that matter, express desire to play for the Sox? Meanwhile, with the Cubs putting together a team that should be competitive for quite a few years, the Wrigley Field mystique, Dusty Baker, the fan support...you're going to see a lot more big names who want to play for the Cubs. It sucks but it's true.
  9. Well, the article doesn't say that Tejada is interested in the Sox...only that the Sox are interested in him if his price drops. Since Maggs doesn't seem to want to stick around for a little less money, I wouldn't mind trading him for a top notch pitcher and then signing Tejada. I doubt that'll happen, though.
  10. If the Sox clinched the division at home they would have acted the same way and we fans would have loved every single minute of it. They won and deserve to celebrate like that....people need to stop trying to find something wrong with everything associated with the Cubs. Now that being said, I do hope and pray that they're knocked out in 3 games.
  11. Is PK going to live in Chicago year-round now? That'd be pretty cool. I figured most players go off to AZ where they can golf all winter. I remember reading that Paul lived in Scottsdale and loved to golf all the time.
  12. I'm with ya cwsox. I've always been a big supporter of Paulie's and I'm glad he's turned it around. Just like I'm glad that Mark Buehrle got his year going in the right direction because he was pretty bad for awhile there, too. Ncorgbl, you say "Paulie sucks plain and simple" and you also think Colon sucks. Are you even a Sox fan? Are you even a baseball fan? Because one would think that you don't know a whole lot about baseball by looking at those statements.
  13. Excellent, excellent outing by Bartolo. I just wonder if that was good enough for Ncorgbl. He probably thought Colon "the tub o goo" showed up again.
  14. Sure, Ncorg has the right to post whatever he wants but then be ready for some of us to use our right to tell him he's a moron for posting the same exact thing every 5 days. It goes both ways.
  15. Yes, we all have players we dislike and comment about it. But did you see the title of this thread? Corg has made the same stupid, moronic statement 24 times. That is why Roman told him to f*** off and I wholeheartedly agree. Everyone here is open to discussion, but find a different topic already. Colon keeps proving him wrong time after time anyhow. I think most people here are getting really sick of this topic. The best thing to do is probably to not even respond, and maybe the little 10 year old will go play outside with the other kids or something.
  16. Ha!! At least he's moving up the age chart. I figured him for about 10 years old.
  17. Geezus....are you going to make this post of "Will Tub o Goo show up" every 5 f***in' days? You made the same dumbass statement last week and he pitched a great game. Give it up already. Are you 10 years old or something?
  18. Yes, I remember the quote from the Sun-Times because you constantly refer to it every single time Bartolo has anything less than a complete game shutout. Maybe the Sun-Times was a little inaccurate with that story, ever think of that? Just like they're always inaccurate when talking about Frank Thomas, according to some here. It's getting a little tiresome hearing Colon called a "tub o goo" when he doesn't win. I'll take the "tub o goo" any day of the week and feel real confident.
  19. And how do you know that Bartolo only pitches when he feels like it? Did he tell you that specifically? I'm sorry, but I just can't believe that a pitcher will not try his hardest until he sees his other teammates are trying to win.....especially in a pennant race. I might buy that theory if we were 20 games out, but not in this situation. Hopefully Bartolo will have his "A" game going tonight but if not, I'm not going to assume that it's just because he didn't feel like pitching well. Even great pitchers have "off" games every now and then.
  20. Hey HSC, It was nice to meet you on Saturday (Oats introduced us). Too bad the final score wasn't better but it was still nice to meet you and others from the WorldCrossing board.
  21. SoxRule

    SOS!

Well we'd better start beating the better teams if we plan to do anything in the playoffs, should we make it. It would be a good start to show that we can win against teams like the A's, Mariners or Yankees.
  22. I have to disagree with this statement. It is NOT that easy to use one lineup, especially when the guys aren't getting the job done. When you lose game after game, you need to shuffle things around to see if something else will work. The only problem I've got is messing around with what was working, which was having FT play first base. Unless he asked that his time there be reduced, then you can fault Manuel for that. Otherwise, I don't blame him for trying different lineups to see what can right the ship. Think about it.....if he used the same lineup and the Sox lose night after night after night, all of you would be screaming that he should be fired because he's using the same lineup when it's clearly not working. JM is in a no-win situation sometimes.
  23. . Wood was nowhere near rocked in his last outing. He was rocked 2 outings ago vs. St. Louis but rebounded to win the other day, July 9th, with a CG, 3-hitter, 12 strikeout performance against the Marlins. I think Wood also pitched really well in his start before the St. Louis game.
  24. Steff, I think people jumped down this guy's throat because of the way he titled this thread. When you see something like "F You Daubach" and realize that the person who said this had no idea what happened, it gets kind of annoying, especially since Daubach actually smoked that ball. Saying "F You" is a very strong statement that shouldn't be made blindly. If he would have said something like "Damn, I just read that Daubach hit into a GIDP", people would have gone much easier on him and told him how it actually went down.
  25. Are you like 10 years old or something? That would at least be sort of an explanation for saying such stupid things time after time.
