QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) No. The MLB teams don't care enough to send the best guys. Will Josh Kroeger be the 2009 starting CF for the White Sox? No. But wouldnt surprise me if he started in the second half of the season after Owens/Anderson experiment fails for the last time. Could you beat Bartolo Colon in a 50 yard dash?

I watched the first 2 innings because I dont sleep much. Felt like I was watching a soccer game with the crowd cheering non stop.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 03:36 AM) Except midweek games are meaningless. For the most part yes. But to manage only 3 hits and to get shut out by a team like Rhode Island is pretty sad. Losing is one thing but to not even show up is another.

14-3 win over Mount St Mary's. Still doesnt make up for last night's debacle.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) Yes. Will the Bears win the NFC North next year? No. Will Lovie Smith still be the coach in 3 years?

Pathetic display by Miami. Losing by 10 at GT. hahaha, pathetic. Might need to make the ACC semis now and that wont happen. Cant wait until all the seniors leave. -
ND is usually a solid team. I think they beat FSU in the Super Regionals a few years back.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 12:25 PM) No. Penn is so done. Will Adrian Peterson be the consensus #1 pick in fantasy football drafts for 2009? Yes because he is more well known than Michael Turner who I would rather take number 1. Will a team who has one of the top 5 picks in the NFL make the playoffs next season?

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) Wow, the Cameron Crazies busting out the overrated when they were 11 1/2 point favorites. I'm so glad that game is over, I couldn't take any more of the Duke love fest from the announcers. Duke has the dumbest fans in the ACC. I heard the chants and started laughing. Duke is ranked 17 spots higher than FSU and only won by 3 yet FSU is overrated?? hahaha I cant wait until the tournament begins and Duke has to play with refs who arent in Coach K's back pocket. They wont make it past the Sweet 16. -
QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) Yeah, we lost to JU. Wtf haha. hahaha, atleast you guys lost to a Florida team.

Greg Paulus is the biggest b**** in college sports. I know this isnt nice to say but I wouldnt mind seeing someone cave in Paulus' face with an elbow one of these days... -
I dont know if its more pathetic or funny that Miami lost 3-0 to Rhode Island tonight. That's baseball I guess?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 10:04 AM) Yes, as long as MJeff & The Bobcats dont get the first pick and screw it up... Will a "mid-major" make the Sweet 16? Yes. Ill State will make it to the Final 4. Will the US make it to the WBC title game? "We are talkin bout picking up women, not playing ball" Going to be hard to slay women in Chicago if youre stuck in the minors...

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) Why do people suggest Cutler, you know the Bears have zero interest. Cutler is the NFL Thread's version of Carl Crawford. -
Ken Shamrock vs Lashley signed to fight on Roy Jones Jr boxing/mma card on March 21 in Pensacola. I know Shammy is looking to get paid but there's got to be easier ways to get that money. I hope he wins but I really hope he doesnt get wrecked too badly.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 11:07 PM) No, I still think Manny will be a Dodger. Will Gordon Beckham "slay" as many chicks in Chicago, as he did in UGA? No because the majority of the time Soxtalk gets a hard-on for a minor league, he turns out to be a bust. Will the Big 10 win a BCS national title in the next 5 years?

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 11:54 PM) I am going for Illinois State!!! I spent some time at the Vegas casinos talking with some boosters of ISU and they were very supportive of my career ambitions and gave me great contacts. They also are very fond of Coach Jank, gotta go with the KU connection there. interesting... 1. Spent some time in Vegas. 2. Met some ISU boosters who hooked you up in reference to your career ambitions. $$$$ 3. You've been bagging on ISU all year but now want them to win the MVC. Sounds like these boosters have paid some MVC players off and gave you a nice betting tip! I need to call my bookie. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 11:27 PM) The fact that the ACC only had three teams is proof against your argument. Plain and simple, all at large teams are compared against each other. Preference is typically given to big conference teams, because they have played more top teams and typically beaten some if they are in consideration. But NO, they aren't looking to fill a certain # of teams from any one conference. The NCAA has given media access to how the process works through mock selections the past several years and to a T every single person that has been through will tell you that they don't know how many teams made it from each conference until the field is set. The process is very clear cut in that teams are compared with a pool of other teams, not with teams from their own conference. Whether the SEC gets 3, 4 or 5 bids has nothing to do with them being the SEC, but completely with the resumes of the teams being considered against other potential at large teams. End of story. Proof against my argument? It hasnt happened since 2000. If it happened 2 years ago then its against my point but it happened 9 years ago. And the ACC was a 9 team league back then. The trend doesnt lie. The BCS schools will always have a min. number of teams getting into the bracket. Of course the selection committee is going to say what they are saying. Can you imagine the crap they would get if they came right out and said 18 at-large bids automatically go to the major conferences? -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 1, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) Having broadcasted a couple games and traveled with a team. I find most college baseball players to be insufferable. I think that is all baseball players actually. I'd say about 75% of the people I've played with I wanted to punch in the face.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 1, 2009 -> 11:38 PM) At what point will people begin to realize that there is no set # of bids a conference will receive? It makes ZERO difference to the Selection Committee whether the SEC gets 4 or 5 bids. They evaluate those teams versus all of the potential at-large teams with no factor placed on conference affiliation. No s***, people know there is no set number of bids a conference will receive. But the selection committee does play favorites to bigger conferences. Since 2000, only 1 BCS conference has not fielded atleast 4 teams in the NCAA Tournament. (In 2000, the ACC only had 3 teams.) So there will be atleast 4 SEC teams in the tournament. And you have to go back to 1996 for the last time the SEC didnt have atleast 5 teams in the tournament. But we're suppose to think that this year might be different? You are fooling yourself if you dont think the committee has a min. number of teams per conference it will put in the tournament when it comes to the BCS schools. -

The NCAA really needs to change the interpretation of what an intentional foul is this offseason. -

Bruce Pearl runs his record to 7-1 against Florida. The SEC is hard to figure out. LSU is the only lock in that conference. Kentucky will always get in if they win 9 games which they will this year. That leaves South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida fighting for 2 spots. This conference barely deserves 4 teams, if this conference gets a 5th bid then that is complete BS. Either way, that is going to be one insane conference tourney. -
QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Mar 1, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) Final game @ Auburn is snowed out. You don't hear that too often haha. wtf is snow?? hhaha I'm 27 years old and I've never seen snow. Guess that is what happens when you live in Florida your entire life. Miami completes the sweep with a 16-2 win at Florida. Our pitchers pitched very well this weekend. And what would be a Miami game against an in-state rival without a little bench clearing action. Miami up 12-1 when Gator OF and WR on the football team Riley Cooper comes in spikes up at second to break up the DP. He is called out on interference and promptly shoves our second baseman. Left fielder comes rushing in and the player leaves the dugouts. The umps did a good job in ending the situation before anything happened.

Nice 2-1 win over Florida today. This team is exactly what I thought they would be so far. Struggling to find clutch hits but the pitching has been very good so far. We'll be pretty good if our offense improves as the season goes on.

QUOTE (djcollie03 @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) Olympic Stadium in Montreal - weirdest baseball experience of all time, less than 1,000 in attendance for a Sept game the last year they played there. It was terrible. Thats funny because I had a similiar experience at a Marlins/Expos game back in 2001. It was a game that was delayed because of 9/11 and was played during that extra week. My friend was about to go on a church mission so we went to one last baseball game in Miami. Left around 930am for a 1pm game. We get to the stadium and we park in the first row of the stadium parking lot. No joke we were within 100ft from the gates to the stadium. We start walking up to the box office and some guy gave us 2 free tickets that were 6 rows up from the first base dugout. We go to our seats and it was a sea of orange seats. I would be my life that there wasnt more than 1000 at that game. It was quite the experience.
