  1. Let me rephrase that: They spend good money. They just spend their money stupidly. Happy?
  2. No. They're just cheap and have bad management. And the fans were pissed when Alou was let go.
  3. They don't just send it to people like me. When I got the letter, I showed it to my coach, I'm like is this a joke or what, and then a few of the swimmers who are going to swim in D1 in the fall said that they got the exact same letter from the school. So they are really wasting paper, ink, and money, sending scouts to every high school competition.
  4. There is a concept called mute the TV and listen to the radio. If you hate Hawk, I suggest you grasp the concept.
  5. That was a stupid trade. Where is Nevin going to play when Lee comes back??
  6. I got a letter from Lawrence Univerisity in Appleton, Wisconsin. I have no intentions of swimming in college. They're also wasting a lot of money, sending scouts to every high school competition. What my coach did, made perfect sense, though. He's got no replacement, he might as well give himself a chance at earning a point. And the move did work. I got 5th place in the race. If I had stayed in the exhibition lane, my swim would have scored no points, even though I beat a guy.
  7. Hey. I have a life. I f***ing hate Cubs fans, all right. Geez.
  8. I don't. I mute the TV and listen to the radio.
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2463667 They should
  10. I know. I was asking what his On-base % was. Slug % is just total bases/offical AB, which could technically be as high as 4.000
  11. I don't see a lot of interest in woman's soccer even though they won the World Cup in 1999. I find soccer very boring, plus I am turned away by it b/c of my parents signing me up for it w/o giving me a choice and not allowing me to play baseball until I was in 6th grade and then refusing for many years to allow me to throw away my soccer trophies and then not letting me destroy them and being critical of my play For that, I have always hated soccer. The only time I ever watch it is if it is on in spanish and I have nothing to do. Just to hear the broadcasters go "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!"
  12. There are no restrictions on text messages. At my swim meets, scouts are there. I got a letter from a D3 school asking me to swim in college. I'm a JV swimmer, and I was swimming on the varsity level one meet for points, b/c one of the swimmers in my event suffered a seizure during the meet. Some of the JV members swim exhibition at the varsity level. I was one of them. My coach had no replacement for him, so he just moved me over. Made sense, give yourself a chance at a point. At any rate, it just shows how crazy the recruting is.
  13. How bad is Fields' arm? You can mask one bad arm, but 2 you can't. Note I could have mentioned the Cubs OF in this, but I am refusing to.
  14. I read in the Trib that when he was on the DL that Crash merchandise sold more than anything else.
  15. Biggio is a lock for the HOF, when IDK. He's played the most demanding positions (C, 2B, CF) his entire career, he's been HBP more than anyone else in MLB, got good power for a small guy. He should be in.
  16. If it's too early go ahead and delete it, but I thought this would be interesting to keep track of the MLB HR leaders as they pursue their assult on Bonds' record and beyond. Maybe we could update this weekly or something, like a top 5. But here we go: 1. Albert Pujols, Cardinals 25 2. Jim Thome, White Sox 20 T3. Ryan Howard, Phillies, and Alfonso Soriano, Nationals 18 T5. Adam Dunn, Reds, Morgan Ensberg, Astros, and Carlos Lee, Brewers 17
  17. Well said. As long as there's beer and hot chicks, the fans will come. And I f***ing hate their fans as well. I want to knock the s*** out of someone when I see them wearing a Cubs hat and shirt.
  18. I don't think he's a 1st-ballot guy, but maybe 10 years after retiring. He's got pretty decent numbers and had the winning hit for Arizona in the 2001 World Series.
  19. It can't be done. He is surronded with good protection. He seems to have no hole in his swing.
  20. If Pujols and A-Rod can stay healthy and do what they've done, they'll be chasing the Hammer and maybe even 800 when they're at this stage.
