Jordan saying Westbrook reminds him of himself early in his career. http://www.complex.com/sports/2016/08/mich...tbrook-young-mj

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 07:27 AM) Avi has to be one of the most frustrating players in recent Sox memory. You can clearly see that there is talent there. When he gets hot he looks like a potential superstar but when he's cold he does absolutely nothing. He has two months this year with OPSs in the .500's. If he could even manage a .650 OPS during his down stretches he would be a useful player. Hopefully he continues his hot stretch and something clicks for him. Still just barely 25 years old. Since the all star break - .290/.378/.742 The one good thing he has really done is improve his walk rate. It was an anemic 3.9% throughout his minor league career and has improved to a respectable 8.3% this year. Call me crazy but I still have at least some faith left that Avi can become a useful everyday player. While his defense will probably never be good, it has improved each year if defensive stats are to be believed. This is just a thought off the top of my head, but since Morneau has been playing, Avi has been playing mostly against southpaws so he is getting better matchups.

Nice bounce back game from Collins. 3-4 2B RBI. Tanner Banks pitched 8 innings with 9k in a gem.

QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 06:56 AM) Looks like Burdi has adjusted well to AA after his disastrous first appearance. 1st game in AA: 1G 0 IP 4 ER INF ERA 0 K 4 BB 1 H All other games in AA: 9 G 13 2/3 IP 3 ER 1.98 ERA 21 K 13.83 K/9 5 BB 3.29 BB/9 4.2 K:BB 6 H 0.80 WHIP I hope they stretch him as a starter for next season...Do you guys think it's more likely that happens or is he our closer of the future?

QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) To be perfectly honest, I would be just fine if they said Moncada, Benintendi, and Devers for Sale. Done Deal. Obviously, I don't know the specifics of the discussions, but if were dicking around with lottery ticket A Ball players being added im just dumbfounded by it. That's 3 of the top 23 prospects in baseball, 2 of which are performing at a high level in Double A. That's MORE than enough for Chris Sale. This will more than likely be an unpopular take on the proposed Sale packages It's unpopular because you are hung up on the wrong thing. The Sale trade isn't happening because they won't include both Moncada and Benintendi...not because they will include both but we want throw ins...

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:34 PM) My first post aside ... not trading Robertson and a few of the smaller pieces is asinine though. Waiting until you have the best informed, well made decision on Sale and Quintana (since they are not FA for a while) makes sense. Not trading some of the other pieces? Dumb. Robertson may not be at peak value right now, but I believe he'll net more this year than he will next year ... At the same time, we don't know what's being offered for Robertson, Frazier, or any other pieces. If all that's being offered are prospects that the Sox don't see as contributors then I don't blame them for holding on to them right now. None of these pieces are going to be FA's at the end of the season.

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) I know everybody is probably stuck over in Trade Winds but thought I'd bring this up here. I, as much as anybody kind of want to see a trade for a sake of a trade. Not that it makes sense. I am just so frustrated as a fan. My levels have reached heights they've never been before. For the first time since 2004 I am no longer watching games daily. I mean, through it all, I've watched 120-130 games a year. Basically if it could be worked into my schedule I'd watch. I've bought season tix (partial) almost every year.. but now? Done. I've started watching Astros and Cubs baseball, or just any random game of solid teams because I enjoy watching fun, fundamental baseball. Robin, the FO, the players all have not done this. Now besides my rambling anger I just brought up the 2012 prospect list. Now, it has always been my belief that if you trade a Sale or Q you'll never win the trade. It's just not possible. And I think this list confirms it... http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2012/ Who cares what their rankings are? Dylan Bundy? psh. he's a nobody. Not even a top 10 prospect is a guarantee. So to me, how am I going to trust our FO and scouts to correctly identify the good ones in a trade? Our whole existence is being bad at identifying and developing talent. Just saying maybe keeping Sale and Q isn't the worst. Mediocrity or not. That is a great example of why I'm extremely happy the Sox didn't budge on their asking price with Sale/Quintana. Even top 10/20 prospects have a 50% bust rate and only a couple turn into actual stars.

QUOTE (FT35 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 08:40 AM) Rosenthal just removed a tweet after 3 minutes that said BREAKING: White Sox Red Sox agree on Sale. Sox would receive Benintendi and Devers as a part of the deal. No Moncada. Those guys are good...but if we trade Sale and it doesn't bring back a team's #1 prospect...wow. Hmmm. If that goes through that trade better include about 3 more names.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 05:31 PM) How many of you would pay $250 to see Hahn's text messages in real time over the next 20 hours? Absolutely. Would prefer to see the last week as well.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) I'm sure it's nothing, but Frazier's wife just listed a bunch of furniture and decor on social media for sale saying it all "must go". However, it's from a location in KY, so could be a coincidence in timing. I would guess it is their residence from when he played for the Reds.

Call starting his day with another hit, Micker starting his with another K.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) He wouldn't be opting out of $9m/year though, he'd be opting out of $22m/year. He would arguably be the top FA pitcher this offseason though if he finishes out the season strong. Could lock up similar money to what he's making now for longer than just the next 2 years.

Thoughts are prayers to you man. Having my own child expecting to be born soon, I can only imagine what you are going through. Stay positive and know you have a lot of prayers coming your way.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) I just spent 4 days in Boulder, Colorado. I have been to Colorado several times in the winter, but never in the summer before. It was beautiful this time of year. Went on some great hikes, golfed, went fly fishing, and rock climbing. Can't wait to get back. On the golf note, the altitude definitely adds distance to your game. It was actually a detriment because it took me several holes to figure it out. I kept hitting the ball further than intended, particularly with my low irons and wedges. Nice man. Where did you golf? Just golfed at Keystone last weekend, which was my first time golfing up in the mountains. Just as I get used to golfing at 5,000 feet in Denver, I go play up there and have to play up another club or 2. This is after just golfing back in Michigan a few weeks ago. I'd say up in the 8,000-10,000 ft range I was playing about 3 clubs up from what I was playing at 0 altitude.

Thanks for the replies. The only issue with buying months before moving is we don't know exactly where we want to live. Looking mainly where my family is in Berrien County or Grand Rapids...

The wife and I are kicking around the idea of moving back to MI towards the end of the year. Denver housing market has just gotten to the point where I don't even want to try and buy a house here and rent is out of control too. Buying a house in MI is part of the appeal, as well as my entire family living there...only problem is I work on commission, and for a lender to include my commission as income, I need to be with the company for at least 2 years. Since I have been established with my current company for over 4 years I was curious if it's possible to buy a house in MI in the next 6 months before we move out there, while using my current job and income...Does anyone know anything about this? I get the feeling it won't work since I'm assuming I will need to prove what my income will be in MI, but what if I bought the house as a second home and didn't tell the lender the plan is for me to move there instead of using it as a second home? Any insight from anyone else that works in sales or is a lender?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) The all star break. Then Morneau will be activated and start at DH. Do you think Avi will be sent down to AAA when this happens or just get less AB's? -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) Rosenthal made an ASG roster and Q was his snub. I wouldn't be surprised to see Quintana added after injury/people dropping out because of timing. Agreed. I think it's BS if he doesn't make the initial roster, but he probably won't. Would be irate if he doesn't make it after subs are needed.

Hawkins with a 2 run shot. Adams 5 ER in 5 innings...5 K's at least.
