We will win the one that counts which is the final standings in 2006 on our way to the repeat as World Champions.

Harold Baines is still a couple of years away from being on the Hall of Fame Ballot. His last year as a player was either 2001 or 2002 so it would be around 2007 I would think. Would love to see Ozzie get in the HOF, but I sort of doubt it. I would like to see Rich Gossage get in.

One White Sox gift I was supposed to get didn't make it by Christmas, so it will be a late gift.

QUOTE(quickman @ Dec 25, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) I know its christmas and you may have had too much egg nog. Wells was on the Redsox, not the yankees. I never saw a rumor of him going to or the yankees thinking about signing wells. He was not on the Yankees last year. Gee your probably right!! Not thinking. Thanks for the wake up call!! I can see why Boston would want to trade him, they would probably trade him to the N.L. Thanks for correcting my error very much appreciated.

It seems to me that David Wells has caused trouble every place he went. I have heard other rumors of him going to the Red Sox. Yankees would be better off without him.
-
Bobby Jenks is no fluke. If he were I think he would have chocked under pressure in the World Series. To me that was the big test for him. He looks like the type who thrives on pressure.
-
Here is wishing everybody on Soxtalk a Merry Christmas. Also a big thank you to our Chicago White Sox for making our dream come true by Winning the World Series. LOVE THE SOX!
-
I am hoping Vazquez will come through for us, since he has team a behind him now that can score some runs. I am hoping for 14 or so wins from him.
-
Thanks for the info. So glad to be on a board that makes this so easy for people fo find!

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) Crede: .303 career OBP + .439 career SLG = .742 career OPS Mackowiak: .328 career OBP + .414 career SLG = .742 career OPS Weird. To me it looks like Mackowiak has the numbers to be a starter. He sounds like a good one to have. It is always hard to repeat, but I figure the Sox have as good a chance as anybody.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Redding sucks. If he makes the White Sox, the Sox are in trouble. You got that right. With the record he had, our White Sox would be in deep trouble. I remember some bad pitchers the Sox had over the years. After winning the World Series, I would prefer to keep lousy pitchers a thing of the past!
-
I would think they should let Rowand and El Duque after all they were part of the 2005 World Championship Team. At least extend the invitation to them.
-
The Red Sox are sure breaking up a good team.
-
I also think it will probably happen later. Perhaps when the Sox are in Baltimore would be my guess.

QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) What the hell sort of spelling is that in the poll? I mean seriously, wtf. Please, learn how to spell. I agree, if someone is putting a poll up on the board, get the names spelled right with the last names also not just the first names.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Thank you.. This is the point.. Nothing to see here, move along. The deal is final. Now we can figure he will be in the starting rotation.

QUOTE(MattZakrowski @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) It's a Bears town. This 2005 title, the 6 Bulls titles, and the Cubs um... yea..., were not as big as the 85 Bears. But in terms of establishing fans, the 1 title is needed, but now, 4 playoff apperances and 0 titles would be better than 1 title and no other playoff appereances. When it comes to baseball, the Sox have taken over. While the Cubs are still trying to figure out how to win a pennant.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) No further details available at this point, just heard it from across the newsroom (doing some work for the paper here in Louisville.) An article written by the Associated Press on the internet states that the deal is still preliminary and he still needs to pass his physical. The deal is worth $52 million. I wonder if Steinbrenner will make him Damon cut his hair??

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) 35 I hope his number isn't 35 as it was made famous by Frank Thomas. I also think that a safe bet would be 33. Unless Dye would agree to let Vazquez have the number 23, that does happen once in a while.

After reading the original post it sounds like some guy was hoping for such a trade. I don't believe a word of that rumor.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) Take this rumor with a grain of salt since it's from MLBTradeRumors.com: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2005/12/astros_update_g.html Thanks for the bit of advice on the MLBtraderumors site. Very much appreciated. I don't see the Sox trading Garland, unless it looked like they weren't going to able to re-sign him. As I put in another thread on this board it is going to take alot of $$$$ to re-sign our pitchers though.
-
I like the thoughts of Jim Thome reporting with pitchers and catchers. The sounds like a real team player to me. The thoughts of 35 plus homeruns from Thome sounds great to me!
-
Chicago is indeed a White Sox town now. The Cubs last won a World Series in 1908 I believe, and at the rate their going it isn't going to change anytime soon. The Cubs may draw a little more only because of the old ball park. The Sox have the upper hand because: WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!
-
At Contreras' age, I would consider a two year deal for him and maybe a option year. Regardless it's going to take alot of $$$$ to sign any of these starters now. I would make a guess that Contreras is about 35 or so.
-
At first I didn't like the trade, but once I realized that El Duque isn't getting any younger, I thought it was a pretty good deal. However I wouldn't make many more trades.
