QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ May 21, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) So I take it Nelson is not the answer? What is going on with him? I don't know, but I'm sure as heck not counting on him at this point. He was a free agent in April for a reason. Somebody like Julian Tavarez really could've helped us. Unfortunately, it's going to take a trade to land a player like that.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 21, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) Alex that about sums it up. The play was simple, it should've been made. They made a couple of other errors today and were able to overcome it, but when you keep giving teams extra outs they will inevitably take advantage, sooner or later. True, but that doesn't excuse Cotts from giving up an additional three and blowing the lead. He has to be able to absorb that... especially with two outs. I like Neal, but I don't think that he's ready to be a setup man. We need another veteran in there. That said, it was really nice to see Count come back and have a solid outing, despite not having his best stuff.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 21, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) You didn't grow up in Chicago Ridge, did you? He grew up in Mr. Drummond's penthouse.

I don't blame Hill for trying to defend the (albeit indefensible) actions of his teammate. But he probably could've found a way to do it without sounding like a raging retard.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 21, 2006 -> 08:05 AM) This was an obvious attempt by mariotti to start some s***... Barrett was looking to start some s***. Moronotti and Barrett: two peas in a pod

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 20, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Maybe there are some smart Scrubs fans.... Since there are actually some smart Democrats, it's certainly a possibility.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 20, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) Well once Kirstie Allie is through losing all that weight, somebody needs to take her place in the Jenny Craig commercials. Ouch! That's harsh.

I don't see Lidge becoming the next Mark Wohlers. Some closers are just streaky. Foulke went through more than a few horrible streaks with us at the turn of the century and went on to pitch two outstanding seasons in Oakland and Boston.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 20, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) Jeannie Zalasco has been hating on the White Sox since last years playoffs, i wasnt surprised when she inferred that AJ instigated that. She'll be out of a job soon when Fox Sports Net tanks.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 20, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) When his ERA drops below 100,000 then he can talk about how you're supposed to play baseball. What a f***ing douchebag. -
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 20, 2006 -> 09:43 AM) It don't matter. They have an endless supply of $$$$ Nah, their payroll has already dropped $8 million from last year. If George could've afforded more than a $208 million payroll, he would've done so already. The luxury tax has already caused him to cut Yankee employee benefits.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 20, 2006 -> 07:18 AM) Steve Stone is just brutal when he talks about the Cubs now. I love it, you can tell he is saying whats on his mind instead of being Mr Nice Guy. I'd love to see the Sox hire Stonie. He was one of the best color commentators in the game.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ May 20, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Since AJ got thrown out for getting sucker punched, I think we should learn from this next time we are facing a top-flight pitcher than is going well. Lets charge the mound and get them thrown out for doing nothing. I understand the Anderson thing, but throwing out AJ? He didn't even hit back, Pods knocked him out of the way to get at Barrett himself! LOL at the avatar! That is freaking sweet!

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ May 20, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) What a totally cheap shot by Barrett. He'll get more than a few games for that. Which team has the inferiority complex now?
-
There's no way that we're going to catch Detroit. We'd be best off dealing Buehrle, Garland, and Jenks to the Giants for prospects.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ May 18, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) I believe that was Will Cordero Right, my bad. Wow... I had completely forgotten about that guy.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 18, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) I signed up a few weeks ago, and got the 1 thing I wanted immediately: access to MLB gameday audio. ^^^ At 1/3 off the regular price as well. Still haven't received my official card either, but I don't really care. I already got what I wanted.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 18, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Bonds and Springer are both scumbags in my eyes now.

I can't imagine why he wouldn't want to go to the Cubs or Devil Rays. -
QUOTE(Steff @ May 18, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) Something good must have been going on in his life about that time... :rolly Interestingly, that was right around the time that he got hit with the domestic abuse charge. Didn't he beat up his girlfriend with a phone, or am confusing him with another degenerate pro athlete?
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 18, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) He did play his ass off that season. He played like crap until about June and then went on an absolute tear. I've never seen a hot streak like that since.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 18, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Right now, you're basically betting that Crede's back won't stay healthy or that Crede will slump. Or that he'll simply return to his unimpressive career BA. It's possible that Joe may have turned a corner in his career last Fall. Then again, maybe not. Either way, it's not a bad bet. If I had to choose, I'd probably make the bet.

I hope that Thome is able to break his club records from '98. It'd be great to not have to see "Albert Belle" when perusing the Sox record book.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 18, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) Go to a few Cubs games, go to a few Sox games, grow up here, have friends who like each team......I don't have specific data, but Sox fans are much more racially tolerant than Cubs fans. Cub fans really fit the "rich white people" profile often times, and also have a lot of older fans. And if you are looking for racists in this country, those are the 2 directions you are going to look. That's all I'm saying. I did grow up there. I was going to games at old Comiskey and Wrigley before you were born. I also had a gun stuck in my face while being called a "white motherf***er" in Chicago Heights back in high school, so I'm well-versed in Chicago-area race relations as well. In case you hadn't noticed, there are a lot of "rich white people" going to Sox games. Lots of corporate Republicans in the skyboxes too. Many of my black and Hispanic friends from back home are Cubs fans. If you're looking for racists in this country, you're not going to find many in either ballpark.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 18, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Cubs fans are not racist, however Sox games and Sox fans (as well as our organization) are more open to different kinds of people than the Cubs are. Do you have data to back that up? :rolly The vast majority of Cubs fans are not racists, nor are Sox fans are not inherently "more open to different kinds of people" than Cubs fans. The only difference between the two is that Cubs fans are willing to put up with more crap from their team.
