QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) maybe he'll let more players rest if they want it...what say you to that? That would be kind of funny if Ozzie "rested" the starters.
-
I doubt it's true, and I hope it isn't. But if there were ever a fanbase who deserved it, Angels fans would be it. Exhibit A: www.halosheaven.com

I'm sure Ozzie will find a way to get Timo some quality All-Star at-bats. He's so clutch, you can't leave him off.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 06:50 AM) Because I dont believe after winning the World Series there was that many Cubs fans that jumped for Sox season tickets. I think there are alot of Sox fans like me that went to games on a very regular basis, and when they won it all, decided to put more into the team by buying season tickets. Are you going to find the case of a Cub fan jumping ship to the Sox? Sure, but not enough to effect the revenue for the Sox. If your a Cub fan your a Cub fan, if your a Sox fan your a Sox fan. I really dont think they effect each others revenue that greatly, nor do I consider a team we play 6 times a year the most hated rival. I think you are missing a very large percentage of the Chicago MSA population, that is people who are only casual baseball sports fans. There are a lot of people who may only go to a couple of games a year, and for a long time, we lost almots all of those to Wrigley field. Now with the Sox success, coupled with Sox fans buying more season tickets and the Cubs continued injury-filled underachievement, US Cellular field is now an option.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) I can't stand the myth that the Cubs ownership is content with losing, as long as they pack the stands. They've had one of the highest payrolls in baseball the last few years. It's not the ownerships fault that Wood has awful mechanics and Prior is a pussy. It is the ownerships fault for signing an expensive, long term deal to a guy with bad mechanics.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) As long as we're on this topic... I love Hawk as much as the next guy, but his incessant slobbering over everything White Sox is becoming overkill. I mean, Jesus Christ, you'd think it's impossible for any major league team to win the World Series without Joey Cora coaching 3rd base. /rant. I guess this is what happens after you win a WS. You mean the constant statements like... "This is the best 5 man rotation I've ever seen" "This is the best 3-4-5 lineup I've ever seen" "Crede's playin the best defense I've ever seen" "Contreras has the most movement I've ever seen" And the best, after KC beat the Sox to win the Series in April, Hawk said this in reference to the jugernaut reigning in KC. "Don't be fooled, this team is good." Between the ridiculous Sox hyperbole, and his calls of "stretch" for every flyball within 10 feet of the warning track, Hawk's gotten very difficult to listen to. Unfortunately, DJ's play by play "uh oooh" is no better, and the oasis of Rooney/Farmer is no more. So I'm forced to watch the Sox, waiting for ESPN to pick up a few games, so Chris Berman can provide his neutral, professional, call.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) I agree, wash off the war paint and you have three slightly above average looking women. Slightly above average? Where do you hang out where they only qualify as "slightly above average"? Makeup or not, I'll still pee in their butts.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 07:52 AM) I'm really becoming a believer in the Ozzie philosophy of sticking with your players as long as possible. They have to believe that you believe in them and they WILL rise to the occasion more often than not. Leaving Jon in as long as he did, letting BA take his hacks in the 9th and letting B Mac try to fight his way out of it were the right decisions. We can afford one loss It's all about the big picture. What about the Ozzie philosophy of throwing games away by starting all your scrubs at once?

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 12:46 AM) Im going to the game... my only problem is lol I dont know how to get there not using the Dan Ryan. Where are you coming from?

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 10:28 AM) I guess it suprised me because the Wednesday day game had 26,000+. At least the Monday night total was explainable because of half-price tickets. It's just funny that 5,000 more people decided to skip work on Wednesday rather than go Tuesday night and go to work the next day. That happened alot last year as well...which I thought was odd because last year they still had the half price upper deck seats...for some reason Tuesdays are a tougher sell than Wednesdays.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 09:47 AM) Something I've noticed about Pods is that he really feasts off of teams with bad throwing catchers. I'm not saying this is bad of him, as it's called taking advantage of what the other team gives you. He would run at will last season against teams like the Indians and Orioles, who couldn't throw out any runners. However, he really struggled against teams with good throwing catchers. Then maybe he should restrict his "steal every time I'm on base" mentality to teams with poor catchers.

QUOTE(LoFiStew @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) That's got to be the cheapest, fluky-est hit I've ever seen to break up a no-hitter. It's a pity too, because Vazquez had a real chance for a no-no against this joke of a line-up. If Mientkiewicz had any class, he would have pulled a hamstring running to first base.
-
Vazquez sucks.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) Time? mike north show.

QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) I don't know what that means actually... is that a gay dave matthews reference or something Jesus, you don't remember anything. What about the mashed potatoes on Sundays? You'd eat them with your hands? Remember? No...eh. I passed on tickets for todays game bc of work. This could end up being a very berry bad decision.
