  1. I've got a pretty good problem to have here.... Cousins vs one of the worst defenses of all time Cutler vs a garbage Philly D Big Ben vs a mediocre GB D I've rode Jay when healthy all year, but Cousins has the best matchup.
  2. The problem with a platoon is, what way do you go with it? In 2013, Viciedo had better numbers against RHP than ADA did, but sucked against LHP. In 2012, Viciedo murdered LHP but sucked against RHP. I think you've gotta give the full time job to Dayan and hope he puts it all together. If he puts it together the same way Dom Brown did (look at their splits, they're progressing the same way) we could be talking about a guy who hits .270 with 30 bombs.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) I know, and I hate them for it. OT, but my friend and I played a game of Madden online. He is a Packers fan and he beat me with Flynn, and he started talking s***. I just told him that the Bills only keep s***ty QBs and get rid of the good ones. That's why they let Ryan Fitzpatrick go. I just think both Flynn and McCown look like "Magic men" because of who they played. Tim Tebow would have gone off against some of the opponents the Flynn and McCown have faced.
  4. I think, and I'll be perfectly fine with, a 2011 type season where he worked 170 innings with a low 4 era. As a 4th starter I think that's adequate enough.
  5. In this order... Castro Lucroy Rosario Jaso Grandal Lobaton Depending on what they'd give I'd be happy with any of them.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 10:12 PM) Cause you can do that kind of stuff with all pitchers. This is true, and I'm not trying to say it isn't, I was just responding to a previous poster who brought that up.
  7. I ask this again, isn't Jones the guy who draws comps to Keith Foulke? I was still a young lad during his time but looking at his stats and based on limited memory the guy was really good. Another thing, a previous poster brought up something like "if you eliminate a few games, Addison was really dominate" well same thing could be said about Jones. There were 3 games where he really got lit up to the tune of 12 runs in 2 inning. If those games don't happen you're looking at a 2.84 ERA...Take out Reeds 3 worst games and his era is 2.71. Furthermore, if you eliminate Lindstroms worst 3 games his ERA was 1.96, and Hahn said he will be considered as well.
  8. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) It really used to seem like a rarity when Cubans defected like ten years ago. Now it's as though they can just walk off of the island. http://wuis.org/post/after-50-years-cuba-s...s-can-go-abroad
  9. Any motion city soundtrack fans that are looking for new years plans? I've got 2 tickets i bought when they went on sale and now the girl I was supposed to go with bailed and I would rather just get the money back.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 05:54 PM) It takes removing a guy with $9 million of dead money on his contract and another guy with 2 more pre-arb seasons in order to make that be the bench. That's my problem with it. And neither of those guys have a place on the team with the addition of Davidson. I, personally, would much rather have a bench of PK-Catcher-Garcia-Danks than Catcher-Garcia-Danks-Gillaspie or Kepp.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 03:27 PM) I know I'm in the minority but I really don't want to trade Dunn right now. I'm part of that minority. We saw in 2012 that we can compete with him on the roster. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) Then we shouldn't have signed another DH. We need 2 roster spots right now out of those 3 guys and frankly it would be really nice to keep the guy who is pre-arb. We have no idea what the end game to the 2014 bench is. Kepp and Conor are probably gone, which I have zero problem with. I see absolutely nothing wrong with a PK-catcher-Garcia-Danks bench. It covers all the bases, has speed, defense, and power.
  12. Dunn can easily end up rattling of his June, July, and August numbers to start the year and could get us something better in return at the trade deadline. Dunn was really good for those months, and in those months he walked 50 times, as apposed to 26 the other 3 months, so perhaps Steverson, and his moneyball, get on base ways, will help Dunn have a half way decent season.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 12:44 PM) I'm not even sure Paea played that game. This is true. Landon Cohen and Wootton were the starters that week, and they managed a whole 2 tackles...Not even sure if they had a rotational DT in there because no one showed up in the stat sheet. I still remember that first Minny game when everyone was healthy, sans 1 36 yard gain from AP he was held to 64 yards on 25 carries.
  14. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 12:20 AM) Is it too mucho to as for a Bears win and Packers/Lions loss this weekend coming up? Pittsburgh certainly won't be an easy team to return against for Rodgers....And well, the Lions are the Lions, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit.
  15. I don't care about deliveries if it produces results....Isn't Jones's delivery the one that draws comps to Keith Foulke?
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 11:37 PM) Yup. 2 years, $11.5 million Ahh, MLBTR hasn't updated their list....5.75M for Howell probably means 7-8M a year for O'Flaherty. I think I'd probably do that since he's still young
  17. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 12:30 AM) Wow does flacco suck. He's not even close on these intermediate/ deep routes Could be playing hurt after that hit on the previous drive....Did just complete a pass to get them close to FG range though
  18. Strikeouts aren't that bad ....Boston had 101 more strikeouts than the sox did and we all know what they did.
  19. Still a lot of good LH relievers out there. One of Eric O'Flaherty, Jose Mijares, J.P. Howell, or Scott Downs, in that order would be great additions
  20. Rock did mention something about bringing a vet in to compete for the job...not sure if that is something he heard or just something he would do. The closer markey is still pretty deep... Andrew Bailey (30) Grant Balfour (36) Joaquin Benoit (36) Rafael Betancourt (39) Kevin Gregg (36) Joel Hanrahan (32) Ryan Madson (33) Chris Perez (28) Fernando Rodney (37) Jose Veras (33) Carlos Marmol (31) Brandon Lyon (34) Brett Myers (33) Francisco Rodriguez (31) All those guys have some kind of closers experience. If you're one of those who don't believe the Sox can compete, then at the very least whoever they pickup could be traded at the deadline(assuming they succeed).
  21. Hahn shoots and scores with this one. The Belisario move makes since now since he can now move into Jones role while Jones takes over the closer role. Bullpen might not even skip a beat with this move. I sure do loves me some Davidson as well. Should have big power, and he's shown the ability to take a walk. Reallly like what Hahn has done so far, and he still has some surplus pieces to potentially trade in De Aza or Dayan, Gillaspie, and Keppinger.
  22. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 10:22 AM) I heard that Middlebrooks had a little bit of a big head before being sent back down to the minors. Maybe he was humbled. I don't like the strike outs, but maybe he'd straighten it out here. I wouldn't give up Alexei Ramirez for him though. And also FWIW, after being called up he hit .276/.329/.476. Sounds like I may be the only one, but I wouldn't mind him as long as you didn't have to give up anything more than like Snodgress and Leesman, or something like that.
