QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 05:48 PM) So the NFC North Champ will get the #4 seed. And Romo. Always causing his team to lose. If Dallas somehow wins and the Bears win, the Bears will be the 3 seed. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 04:46 PM) How about this. Player A 2.88 ERA 8.5 K/9, 7.4 H/9, 2.9 BB/9, 1.155 WHIP Player B 2.78 ERA 6.8 K/9, 7.1 H/9, 2.5 BB/9 1.065 WHIP Those are Surkamp and Axelrod's last years in AAA. Not sure you can discount the whole PCL part of the argument though.

From MLB.com Could be a good signing. At the very least he provides depth to the rotation, and at best he can beat out Rienzo/Paulino for the 5th spot.

Wouldn't shock me to see Gordon break out in the least bit. I mean it's not like he didn't bat over .300 his first 3 months of the season.

Not wanting to make the playoffs is ridiculous. Anything can happen. Todays game was wrecked from the start, you can't let a team with an offense like the Eagles get off to the start they did. After it was 21-0 with the offense only having 2 possessions, with this defense, it was over before it began. Can't work in the run game, defense is expecting pass all day, and they are rushing the house all day. Quite literally nothing Jay or the Bears ca do. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 11:50 PM) PFF credits sacks to the QB if he holds it too long for it to be reasonably blamed on the line/linemen. I wonder how many they'll give to Jay Please let us know, because I think it's getting overblown. -

Need 79 points out of Cutler/McCoy/V. Davis/P. Dawson to win the talkbears league. I'll take the loss if it means MCCoy doesn't play a lot due to Chip saving him for next week. -
If they do wanna add a closer I'd have no problem with Balfour, and I think those not wanting him because he's a douche is silly. I can care less as long as he's baking it up with good numbers, which he has.

Stacey(hip) or CJ1K(knee)...Both are dealing with injuries. Johnson has the better matchup(Jags) than Stacey(Tampa). -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 21, 2013 -> 07:39 PM) Clarkson should be available in the late first if they get a pick for Deng or something. He'd be a good backup. Let me first say that I don't watch a lot of college basketball, I think I've seen 3 Illini games and 2 Duke games, so I don't have a lot to go off of, but if Clarkson is a late round pick then this draft is gonna be effin sick. I'd bust a nut if the Bulls got a top 5 pick, a mid 1st pick (Bobcats), a late 1st(Deng trade), and somehow came away with Parker/Gordon/Clarkson with those picks. -

Really like this Jordan Clarkson fellow. If the Bulls get the Bobcats pick in the 11-20 range I'd love to see him backing up Rose. He's got the size to play along side him as well. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 21, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) So, Booz to the Nets? Eh? Saw Zach Lowe throw that out as an idea. I like it. Boozer for Pierce is about the only thing I see that would work. I'd do it, then do the Deng for Waiters deal. -
I would try to get something a better, but I would have no problem with Lobaton as the starting catcher. If he comes anywhere close to that .745 ops he put up last year against RHP that would be huge. Send em Kepp back and call it a day.

What should the White Sox do at closer?

I assume Paulino is supposed to be Belisario? I think that's a solid bunch of relievers in that first option, and that's the option I went with Really wouldn't mind K-Rod if they do wanna sign a guy, I think he'll come the cheapest. Whenever he's been asked to close games he's been really good. When asked to set up? Not so much. Plus this team really needs a native of Caracus if they're going to win a World Series, it's the missing piece. -
Ugh, has anyone else had trouble setting up a paypal account? It keeps switching me from the US version to UK version. When I click on the contact section to try to call them I must be a member to get the number. Selling tickets on stubhub and I kinda get this paypal s*** up asap. EDIT....sigh, literally a minute after posting everything has changed for my benefit....Proceed in in talking about ginger twats

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 05:25 PM) Just because you had 3.8 ypc doesn't mean you had a bad game either. AP had runs of 36 and 11 in that game, his other 24 carries he was held to 2.2 ypc. -
Before any movement happened it was my belief, and argument, that if they got a real deal leadoff hitter and a real deal upgrade over the 2013 PK then they can compete. Whether or not Eaton and Abreu are those guys will remain to be seen. I spoke of what I believe would be a trickle down effect that would infuse into the lineup. It's pretty much a given that most every hitter hits better with runners on and that is reflected in everyones splits but Gordon Beckhams who is actually worse with runners on. If Eaton ends up being anywhere near the hitter he/we would like him to be I can see this team be competitive.

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 08:09 PM) People are really, really down on this guy, but I'd love to have Brandon Phillips play 2B for us. Oh my defense would that be good up the middle. I'm on board with this if it they don't have to give up too much. Between he, Eaton, and Davidson's hair that's a lot of energy injected into a lifeless 2013 team. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) Ramirez, games started, SS 2010 - 154 2011 - 154 2012 - 157 2013 - 157 In 4 years, he has not started 26 games at SS. That is 4% of the games. He needs about a game off once a month, and you don't have to worry about July due to the ASB. I think if you have someone who can just stand at SS for a game now and then - Beckham, Keppinger, Elmore, whoever - you will be fine. If Ramirez gets hurt and misses significant time, you're probably f'ed anyways. Thats when you simply call up Semien. I do agree with your post though. I said the same thing when PK was signed, I see no problem in playing Keppinger at 2B and sliding over Beckham once a month.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) Oh my. Awkward Ben Gordon last second shots would further cement our lottery status. Make it happen, Garpax! Exactly what I was going for, and BG supposedly wants to play here next year so he can "audition" for Thibs this year Ride out 2014 with a lineup of.... Augustine-Teague BG-Snell Butler-Dunleavy Boozer-Taj Noah-Naz Then hope for a healthy, productive Rose, a top 5 pick, the Bobcats pick, and Mirotic next year. Then hopefully that means... Rose-Jordan Clarkson Butler-BG/Snell Parker/Wiggins-Dunleavy (I think he has a 2 year contract correct?_ Taj-Mirotic Noah-Vet min/2nd rounder -

A third of the season is ova, and the Bobcats currently have the 15th pick....Can they keep it up? Any chance MJ might be looking to add a piece? Deng for Ben Gordon would just make too much sense to me. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 02:03 PM) I hope you aren't blasting Reed. If everybody on our team performed as well as he did we'd have had a good season. I will bet you anything our closer gives up more than six home runs this season IF he pitches in as many games as Reed. I'm not blasting him, just pointing out a fun fact. And FYI Jones gave up 5 HRs in 7 more innings last year, and 4 the year before in the same amount of innings. Maybe the "pressure" gets to him and he gives up more but the past suggests that your really gambling with that bet. -

Bullpen might not even skip a beat without Reed. Jones-Downs-Belisario-Lindstrom-Veal are probably all locks. I can see Webb and Petrika battle for a spot, and Rienzo and Paulino battle for the 5th spot with the loser getting mop up duties. Gotta love the fact that between Downs, Belisario and Lindstrom they pitched 172 innings while allowing a combined 6 HRs....Addison Reed gave up 6 by himself in 71.
