  1. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) Those walk are gonna decrease and most pitchers don't fear him. K's are disastrous with men on base especially if they are congruent with your batting average. Sp far he's exceed his career high K by 19 and I can guarantee you he's not done yet. But Sox fans are too fascinated with the home run. What's new? Lol go ahead and pitch to him thats not very smart. The K's haven't matter for the last 8 or 9 years or however long he's been in the league (of course withdrawing last year). I dont care if he K's 300 times as long as he drives in close to 100 runs. Getting a healthy PK hitting behind him is only gonna make him better.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 01:08 AM) We don't trust Quintana/Santiago/Humber to take 2 rotation spots. We'd rather get a good veteran not named Guthrie. First off, Humber won't even sniff the rotation next year. I can see Axlerod in the rotation before Phil. Past the fact that the first 2 are LHers and it would give the rotation 4 lefties I dont see why not. If one was a RHer Id have no problem with them building on their good rookie campaigns. I see one of them being traded this offseason. Preferably Q, not a knock on Q but I really like what Ive seen out of Hector as a starter.
  3. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 12:02 AM) Fans make way too many excuses for Konerko when they think his numbers should match Ted Williams. The guy is known for long slumps. Plus age may be catching up with him. As for tired, that's the lamest excuse ever. Let me now when Cabrera and Fielder get tired. They might have had one day off the whole season. Their day off is when one of them is a DH. I've never said anything about the team being tired. Do you know how important your wrist is when hitting a baseball??? Have you ever had any kind of baseball coaching in your life??? I played a little High School ball and our coach preached wrist power. He had us take a broom stick with a string that had a 5 pound weight attached to it and we would have to twist that stick around to strengthen our wrists. It's a huge part of your swing, unlike a sore ankle which barely, if at all comes into play for a RH hitter. Thats one "excuse" and no ones saying he should have Ted Williams numbers but he certainly wouldn't have batted .240 with less RBIs than the 8 and 9 hitter on the ball club.....The Sox lost so many games by 2 runs or less, if they had even a .275 PK we win at least 3 or 4 of those games which would put the Sox still in the pennant race.
  4. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) Stud. Played hurt against the Sox and still did damage. No excuses for being hurt or tired on that lineup. I dont know if this is a snark comment on the "excuses" some have made about the sox injuries or not but a left ankle injury for a RH batter doesnt effect a hitters swing like a wrist/hand or even an oblique problem like PK and Dunn have.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 09:27 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2711503:date=Oct 1, 2012 -> 09:10 PM:name=greg775)-->QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) <!--quotec-->I'll root for Detroit. The longer they play, the more innings for Verlander, et. all. Also the more they win, the more they might have a letdown next year. To win the division, we are going to need a replay of this year out of Detroit. No way in hell we'll win enough for a wild card so we gotta win the division. GO DETROIT!!!! Greg = JD Man Card = Fan Card POTY
  6. How much money is David Wright probably gonna get?? Would the savings from Peavy and Youk give them the $$$??
  7. QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 05:45 PM) This was definitely more of a collapse rather than the results of injuries, in my opinion. The team lost their edge for some reason, the passion wasn't there. You are fighting for your playoff lives and you can't drive in more than a single run with the bases loaded. That's pathetic. Thats your opinion. I respectfully disagree. When your 3-4 hitters, the guys who got you there in the first place, are both battling key injuries youre bound to fail.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 03:49 PM) With all due respect, I don't see all the sox love of late. It's time to give them a runnerup award I guess. Thanks for trying, White Sox. It may be a coping (correct spelling?) mechanism for some, but I for one realize that a team with a cleanup hitter that hit .240 over the final 2 months of the season is not going to succeed. PK should have sat but I still have a little respect for him for toughing it out even thought it ultimately led to the demise of the team. If PK would have been out for an extended period of time we would have experienced the "collapse" sooner rather than later. Its pretty clear going back to pre "all in" this team needed a LH power bat to go 3-4 with PK to be a contender, and for the final 2 months the sox didnt have that....Its that simple to me, sure it sucks, A LOT, but I'm not gonna go on some tirade against the team I love because of injuries.
  9. QUOTE (hawksfan61 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 07:51 AM) What is the reality, that guys were hurt? Do you not think there are a lot of guys playing hurt in baseball right now? We are the only team dealing with injuries, gotcha. Baseball is not a contact sport, its safe to say most teams are healthy. A wrist injury in the game of baseball has to be one of the worst to have. You're wrists are pivotal when swinging a bat, you gotta get that whip to hit balls sharply. I forget what Dunns dealing with but even if he's fine, hes got no protection behind him so he's not getting the same kinda pitches he was getting earlier on when PK was performing. If you have those 2 guys healthy we're looking at a 90+ win team, easily. When youre middle of the lineup is not performing it causes a chain reaction with the rest of the lineup.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) No change necessary. This was a good team that choked like a bunch of bush leaguers, and I hate them for it. The front office put plenty of talent on the field to win the division. I wouldnt use that word...IMO losing a 3 game lead when your team is injury riddled doesnt equal a choke.
  11. QUOTE (Real @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 02:14 AM) alexei ramirez definitely needs to be dealt, his career is starting to look like Iguchi's once the league figured him out. guys like Beckham need to be considered as well. too much money invested in Rios and Dunn (another f***ing choker). I disagree on Lexi, looking at his situational stats right now oddly enough the area he struggled in was hitting with the bases empty, hitting just .216. With runners on the man hit .338, thats pretty damn solid if you ask me. He also ranked 6th in RBIs by all MLB SS (72, the same amount as out clean up hitter). If they trade him they better get a damn good package in return. Gordo I can live with dealing if the price is right, I think him packaged in a deal with others could get the Sox a pretty good return...I'd love to get Marco Scutaro as a replacement. I wouldnt call Dunn a choker, he's been dealing with an injury, and with PK playing turrable he's got no protection in the lineup. Unless we get a LH power hitter, like a Chase Headley, then Dunn has to stay.
  12. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 02:15 AM) But they haven't made the right moves. It's over priced mediocrity. Dunn has not been productive for a #3 hitter. His high K rate takes you out of rallies. Pitchers don't pitch around him. History is not good for the Sox signing NL talent because they don't sign the top players. 23rd in RBIs and 3rd in HRs not productive enough for you? When we got Dunn he was EXACTLY what we needed, a power hitting LHer.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 01:34 AM) The point of my thread is not about individual players but how the organization goes about things. whoops. I dont get your post to be honest....IMO they made all the right moves in the last 2 years. I disagree on the DH by committee unless they get a big bopper that can play multiple positions. Pre Dunn it was pretty clear the sox needed another bopper at the DH. Dunn may have a low average and a low Obp this year but he's been productive, thats what you ask for in a DH, production. I'd be interested in seeing the stats on players coming from the NL to the AL, I think its a bit of a mirage.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 10:20 PM) The change in philosophy has to start with placing more value on divisional opponents. For whatever reason, the White Sox have a difficult time winning games against teams in their own division. As long as the Sox continue to suck in that regard, it's going to be difficult to win a division by more than a game or two. How does a team even do that? The total September collapse shows this team is basically a team with an upside of about five games over .500. The downside could be a team out of it by late May. This team was on track to win 90+ games before the collapse started happening, I wouldnt say all that. 1B - Paulie. If he was injured, there's a chance he could return to the Paulie we know and love. If he was not injured, then obviously he's on the decline. Hasn't Hawk mentioned it many a times he's dealing with something?? Idk why this is in question 2B - Beckham. He is an average baseball player. I'd keep him because of his defense. Agreed, but if he has trade value I'd trade him for a good #2 hitter. SS - Lexi. He is an undisciplined baseball player, nothing special. At this point, he's expendable via trade. That .340+ Batting with RISP after our struggles in that department look pretty attractive 3B - We have NONE. Scary. I would re-sign Youk somehow. Unless they have the money for Wright, or make a trade Youk will be back LF - Viciedo. He is an average offensive player right now. Does he have upside? Yes. Should anybody be confident he'll ever be great? No. This is his first full year in the bigs, it'd be pretty dumb not to think he improves. Great? maybe not. Good? possible. CF - DeAza. Very nice ballplayer. The injury bugs are a concern. Can he sustain a whole season? I'd say give him another shot. There's no question he should be the teams leadoff hitter next year. RF - Rios. I'd trade him if anybody wants him. Get as much as you can for him. Unless I'm getting a starter in return no thanks DH - Dunn. I'd trade him if anybody wants him. Get as much as you can for him. Unless we get a 3 or 4 hitter no thanks Pitchers Danks- Pray he is effective upon his return. Sale - Give him a standing ovation and let him pitch. Floyd - Very average pitcher who is nothing special. he's just another guy. Q - Verdict is out. Age is in his corner. Peavy - He's gone back to the NL I suppose. Omigrosso - He can't be in our starting rotation next year. Not ready. Has he even a starter in the minors?? Thornton - Get rid of him. He gets far too much disrespect here. He's a good weapon to have, just not as a late inning guy Jones - Has potential. I'd rework his pitching motion completely. Huh? Crain - Get rid of him. Why?? his 2.49 (2.21 in the 2nd half) era not good enough for you? Reed - He is good. Veal - He is good, not as good yet as some on this board believe. He's flat out filthy, I think he takes over the late inning left role. The bullpen has potential to be acceptable next season if Jones changes his delivery and gets more consistent and Veal is a good lefty specialist. We need 2-3 relievers who can pitch a full inning in the true role of a setup guy. Thornton must go. Verdict: Team will be much worse next season without major overhaul. Sox got career years from Rios, AJ, Paulie the first half, Dunn and didn't win anything of note. GO SOX!! Make some moves.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 12:39 AM) He might humble Hawk a bit or they'd kill each other. Hawk wouldn't take to Ozzie's bluntness IMO. But I'd love it. Itd be one big clusterf*** of a broadcast team, no thank you.
  16. QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 11:27 PM) Spoiler alert: Fesenko is awful and is perennially out of shape. Don't kid yourself. Lol you only back to rip me huh? I just want him to catch on because he's hilarious and can dance, hence why I said he'd fit in the goofy, fan favorite, Scalabrine roll. There were moments in that video where he looked pretty darn good, but I do realize its a highlight video. Watch the video guys its highly entertaining.
  17. i need 5 points from Ramses Barden to move to 4-0 in my money league....thought I was gonna be a gone goose after seeing what Brady did but luckily everyone else on my opponents team sucked
  18. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) Exactly that's why you tweak the team, paulie will be 37 next season, I hope he can comeback strong. There are other things that need to adreesed too Paulies a professional hitter, he's gonna come back and be much better than he has been the final 2 months of the season...he'll be the starting 1B next year no questions asked...
  19. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 01:48 PM) But they ain't a 90 win team. This team has to be tweaked, need to remove some dumb players, balance it out some. Because our cleanup hitter is batting around .240 with less RBIs than our 9 hole hitter over the final 2 months. That spells disaster. I think we win 2 against the indians in the final series to put us at 85 wins. 10 of the 16 losses this month were by 2 runs or less, i think its safe to assume with a healthy offense we could have won half those, or even 2 or 3 and 2 or 3 the previous month to put us around 90 wins. If you wanna blame RV or PK for not sitting out to heal up, I wouldnt disagree. Your wrist is pretty important in baseball, he's not getting the same whip he was earlier in the season
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) Guillen and Williams had to be broken up. No way this mess of a roster gets rebuilt in less than three years anyway, Guillen has plenty of time to either a.) get another managerial job or b.) rebuild his reputation. You keep talking about a rebuild and I firmly disagree that this team needs to be rebuilt. Had they had a healthy PK for the last 2 months of the season this is probably a 90+ win team...90+ win teams dont rebuild. As far as Ozzie coming back, I just don't see it. If Venturas heart is not in coaching, which i see no signs of it not, I'd much rather go a different direction....I liked the mention of Chris Singleton
  21. The Free AJents are somethin special, such a fresh sound, they're a hip hop band with drums and guitars. The show they played yesterday was filled with a bunch of metal bands and it seemed like all the metal heads liked them more than the metal bands. They covered iron maidens the wicker man last night and nearly blew the roof off
  22. Anyone in the Northwest Indiana area looking for something to do tonight, go hit up The 5th Amendment on Kennedy in Hammond... A pretty good show goin on, a 7 band Mostly metal show with a really BA hip hop band with guitars and drums The Free Ajents. Them and Standing on the Shoulders of giants are worth the 7 dollars of admission. Plus I'll be working the back door so you can come say whats up. Here are the 2 bands to see.
  23. How many Ks did Sale get that last game?? 14?? 17?? Disregard..15 Why do I even ask these questions?? lol I have his game log up in another tab smh...marijuana is not a drug
