  1. QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 07:39 PM) Yeah, you never really hear his name. What's the deal with him? From all I've heard he's just simply too weak at this point. I remember Matt Bowan said he was getting pushed around all training camp. I'm assuming they just want him to get stronger.
  2. Injuries killed him, and if I remember correctly he alsowas also said to be weak. We know with Grasu you can be really good at the collegiant level and still be too weak for the NFL. I remember a lot of people wanting him, even in the first round. Reports cane out from scouts that they wouldn't touch him till the 4th at the earliest. People thought that was crazy, and here we are.
  3. Bears released Timu. Really hope he clears waivers and hits the PS. Really liked what I saw from him in preseason. No clue who the backup ILB is right now. Jonathon Anderson on the main roster?
  4. Got free tickets to the game, hoping to get 2 of those sale stretch Armstrong dolls if anyone's looking for one.
  5. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 06:23 PM) Are the baseball players responsible for anything? Touche. I'm not even following my whole little signature line of logic here. Ha.
  6. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) Manager barely matters unless it is someone as insane and toxic as Ozzie. Ned Yost was the biggest dumb piece of s*** manager in baseball, until their young players finally started playing well. Now he's a genius. And if you want to argue "hey, I never said Ned Yost is a genius," then look at the Royals record and see how much the manager matters if you have a lineup full of valuable players. The amount of anger and vitriol heaped on Robin is at about a 10 when it should be more like a 1.5. Exactly, well said. There are countless other examples of coaches being awful until they got an actual talented team. Terry Francona's first 4 years were god awful, then he went to an already talented team and is now considered one of the best managers in baseball.
  7. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:23 PM) This was my thought as well. I'll probably Periscope the Q&A so everyone can watch at home. Don't have a dog in this fight, but it's hilarious that a lot of angry fans have no idea who Steverson is. When Walker was here, and the offenses were really good, he was the scapegoat to everything and perhaps the most hated coach of the last ten years. I think he beats Robin in that regard. Steverson doesn't even get mentioned. Glad I'm not the only one who finds it funny. I'm of the belief that your hitting coach is responsible for the hitters and the pitching coach the pitchers. A manger, IMO, just keeps everyone in line so to speak. Hitting has been a big issue and yet I only hear Steversons name when I bring him up.
  8. Why is Steverson keeping his job? I'm more passed about that.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) What the f*** is baseball head coach? Not sure why I didn't say manager but yeah, you know what I meant. Sounds like crazy talk but I still believe in the whole "Any fan in the stands can manage" line Hawk dropped awhile ago.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) Nothing like a scapegoat. Must have been Parent who was overpitching Sale and who leaves Danks in game after game at least until he's pitched the Sox out of the game. That more than likely was one Don Cooper. I just can't see Robin making those decisions. Baseball Head Coaches are useless.
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:19 PM) What players? Short of them signing David Price and trading for Arenado or Puig, there's nothing to see here. This team is awful defensively, their lineup sucks a fat rhinosorous dick. And that's Robins fault? People know my stance on the Head Coach position (It's written below).
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) I agree with this. I also think the whole sitting behind a QB for two years is some sort of cure-all. I think there were some QBs who were put behind offensive lines that created bad habits right away (David Carr). But I think for the most part I doubt that Geno Smith, Blaine Gabbert, RGIII etc would have been great if they just didn't play for 2 years. Has that ever been done with a top 5 pick though?
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 11:31 AM) They are both better offensive minds than O'Brien. They are record setting coaches in the college ranks. Yeah, that's kinda what scares me about Goff. When at Louisiana Dykes had the number 1 offense in the country. Guy who was the QB for that team now plays in Japan. He was also apart of those Texas Tech teams that put up ridiculous numbers without producing an NFL QB.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 05:39 PM) Not Von Miller? Kinda doubt he hits FA, but man would it be fun. I'd jazz in my pants if they somehow sold he and one of the top corners to come here. How nice would it be to have Miller and McPhee coming of the edge, add Bosa/Nkemdiche to the line, and grab a shut down corner?
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) Eh, don't care, I don't like Kessler, not in the 1st round. I'd be okay if he was on the Bears this year cause at least you have an unknown with some talent but I like Connor Cook. He's my favorite of the prospects, although a lot can change during the year. I have little faith in USC QB's anyway. System they run is extremely QB friendly. Guy who is awesome is Rosen out of UCLA but moot point. Whose to say Cardale Jones doesn't make strides and move himself back up draft boards. FWIW I should have pointed out that I'm talking about Kessler in the 2R. This team needs an impact player on defense, that's what I want them to get in the 1R.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) Not interested. I am interested in Goff and Cook. I like Cook for the fact that he has been very good against blitzes. Of course that is based upon PFF so maybe he actually stinks against blitzes (since when Rodgers is good he's actually really bad by PFF metrics). I think to succeed in the NFL, you not only need the tools, but you need the smarts, and when I watch Cook, I see a guy with a lot of poise who seems to do an excellent job reading defenses. He also runs a pro-style offense and seems very comfortable in that set. I think Connor is going to be a really good QB in this league. Know who else is good under pressure(71% of his passes completed)? And PFF(Since you're using them) had ranked ahead of Jared Goff in their top 10 players returning to the Pac 12?....Cody Kessler.
  17. I'd like to hear some thoughts on Cody Kessler. Is the only reason he's not really talked about as a first round pick because he's "short"?
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 12:27 PM) Spotrac ‏@spotrac 19h19 hours ago The #Bears now have $91.9M allocated to 37 players on their 2016 salary cap, an est. $60M in space to work with. http://bit.ly/1LYgwWc Would be nice if Josh Norman or Sean Smith hit the market. I know the CB position has gotten "overpaid" but with the cap room the Bears have I'm fine with them going all in on one of em.
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 04:26 PM) Allen at LB was a joke to start with. Shea is a lost cause also. The whole Bears 53 man roster does not have 10 keepers right now. What is your definition of keeper?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 03:34 PM) #tank2015 Houston and Acho are better options anyway. Allen should have been in the bench in their favor. Don't really consider this a "tanking" move.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 08:56 AM) I honestly think the bears are tanking. I think they took over, realized they could do nothing about Jay and all of their major talent was 4-3 pieces too expensive to get rid of and are going to take it on the chin next year and then enter next year with cap space galore and a high draft pick. Eh, maybe. They've been fairly competitive when Jay has been out there. Lost to the Pack by 8 and trailed at the half by 8 to AZ. Those are 2 damn good teams.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 07:54 AM) Why? Because there's 1) not an RB worth taking at #1 and 2) this is a passing league. I would take an OT, S,, CB or QB. Pass rush plays a big part in the passing game too. Unless Jenkins continues to play like he did this week you have to consider one of the DEs.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 05:17 AM) Why? I get the feeling that Forte wants to go. What would everyone use the #1 on? and don't say Cook or Hackenberg. Gag Somewhat tough to say after 3 games. Losing Sutton sucks because he looked like he might be able to be a penetrating force that would lessen the need of a guy like Bosa or Nkemdiche. Jenkins has looked good as well and could be a candidate to return. He has had a history of being not very good so time will tell.....Not sure either of those guys or Ego can be that Justin Smith type guy in Fangio's D. I think Ego is more of Ray McDonald run stuffing type guy. Is Ego-Goldman-Jenkins with Sutton rotating in good enough to pass on Bosa/Nkemdiche? I'm a Cutler supporter, but he's also gonna be 33 next year. That 33 year old body has taken a ton of hits as well. You hope they aren't in a top 5 position again the following season, so you have to consider Goff. That said I would have a tough time not going defense. How often do CBs go top 5? Without looking it seems rare to me, but I like what I've seen/read on Hargreaves. Maybe trade back a few slots for him?
  24. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Sep 27, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) No, I know it'll be 3-4 years. I just wish 2 of the picks had more than 0 minutes of playing time in 3 games, one wasn't out for the year, one didn't only have a handful of touches in 3 games and the other about to get only a few snaps a game with Ratliff coming back. With Sutton out for the year, Goldman will still get plenty of reps. The OT Fabulouso or whatever was a late round flyer project. Not sure what's going on with Grasu but I still expect him to be the starting center of the future. Langford looks to be a solid back, no clue why they didn't give him any carries but I'm not really worried about it. Amos hasn't looked dreadful either. I think it's far to early to judge.
  25. Duke beat a top 25 team. That NW resume keeps getting better.
