QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Not sure about the Chicago market, but the Vegas market has places that do not do credit checks. When you say homeless, do you literally mean your family will be on the streets, or do you just mean you will lose the family home, but have somewhere else to go, such as a family member or friend's place? The ship may very well have sailed on your home, but most importantly is finding somewhere to go until you can stabilize things a bit. At the time of the post I feared the streets would be a legit possibility. That was fresh off getting the call about the reverse mortgage. I do think we'll figure something out, but I have no clue what. With this all happening so quickly its a clusterf*** right now. The house goes up for auction FRIDAY! We have no family in the area, and with 3 of us having jobs we can't just leave. The plan right now has to be we all go our separate ways to friends houses while we search for some place that won't do a credit check.
-
Another added kicker is finding a home right after being kicked out. How does one find a place that won't check that stuff?
-
As an added kick to the groin this home has been in my family for 75 years. Another kick to the gut is that me and my sister BOTH started working. Long term, especially with rent now in the picture, that will help, but its just devastating to us that we're gonna lose this home. Perhaps my initially reaction is overblown and things will work out, but I just don't know how quickly we can get into a home. I guess that may be the main concern.
-
From what I understand we are responsible for the 10k. They take it out of whatever it gets in auction. I have no clue what happens if no one bids, or if we're allowed to stay until someone does. Rent should be possible, but doesn't it take quite awhile to close on a house? Perhaps I'm just overwhelmed and rent right of the box will be possible.
-
Essentially things have been really tough for a couple years. We live in a home that is paid off. We've just been paying not nearly enough of our property taxes. They've accumulated to 10 thousand dollars. We tried loans and all sorts of things. The last hope we had was a reverse mortgage. We got an appraisal a few weeks ago. Word just came back 2 bleeping days before the house goes up for auction that it is being appraised for only 25K. From what I understand we HAVE to make home improvements with this reverse mortgage and with what needs to be done 25K is not enough. Just a s***ty situation that I hate sharing with the public but right now its all I can do with the hope that we missed something we can do or if someone has a miracle up their sleeves. I thank everyone for reading and their concerns.
-
Thanks Brian. It looks extremely bleak. I've even gotten to the point where I'm asking pro athletes on twitter. LDF I'll get back to you. I just started making decent money but the hole that had been dug is just so god damn large.
-
This absolutely kills me to post this. In 2 days I, and the 4 members of my family will be homeless sans a miracle. We've tried getting a reverse mortgage on our home. To no avail. Everyone here has terrible credit. Is anyone here a miracle worker and know of anything I can do? Again this absolutely kills me to post this.

Johnson "very much" in the mix for 2016 SP job

I see no reason, sans being traded, why he SHOULDN'T be IN the rotation next year. Even if Shark takes the QO, I would then no doubt look into trading Q or if at all possible Danks. Give this man another shot! -

For whatever reason I like the front 7. At least the starters anyway. Allen, McPhee, Houston, Young, and Nacho have all showed signs of being able to play the position. I think they'll be much better against the run. Against the pass is gonna be a problem though. I do believe Fox and Donatell specifically are guys who are pretty good at teaching up the secondary though and expect the young guys to get better as the year goes on. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) 19 quality starts (team 14-5) 139.2 innings, 1.61 ERA, 86 hits, 26 runs, 25 earned runs, 22 walks, 187 strikeouts 7 non-quality starts (team 1-6) 38.0 innings, 9.47 ERA, 63 hits, 42 runs, 40 earned runs, 14 walks, 52 strikeouts I was told when throwing out similar stats from John Danks last year that that type of cherry picking is silly. -
QUOTE (coco1997 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 10:15 AM) I feel like this front office would completely screw the pooch on any trade involving Sale which is the biggest reason I'd be reluctant to trade him. The problem might be is there isn't really any precedent to trading a still young, legit ace, who is signed to a ridiculously team friendly deal. I really don't know what to expect as a return, but I know it should be HUGE. If the Sox think Rodon and Fulmer can both develop into top of the rotation starters I would have no issues with them trading him for a haul.
-
I agree that nothing was really said here, but I'll jump in anyway. Trading Q does appear to be the right thing to do. Sale only if you get blown away. I wouldn't trade both though. IMO next year is gonna be a wash, and I say that as one of the boards biggest optimists. If you trade Q or Sale, come 2017 you've still got a potentially bad ass rotation of Sale/Q-Rodon-Fulmer-EJ and a few other guys who can potentially slot in the back end. It makes all the sense in the world to trade Q or entertain packages on Sale.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 03:07 PM) The more I think about this the more mad I get. If the Yankees claimed him, why not let him go?? He is an unnecessary expense and this team needs to revamp its lineup and needs the cash. He has been an average closer and there are other candidates to close. Why does a lousy team need a closer? Sox blew this one. Trade him. Didn't the Sox blow it when they traded Reed in your eyes? -

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) And it's not like Ventura and company have some deeper system. The team has needed fundamentals work for 2.5 seasons. Can't run a mile before you can walk. Should have learned to walk years ago. I agree with Parent, you shouldn't have to work on the fundamentals of guys who have reached the highest level of their profession. -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) He shouldn't. He also shouldn't get a pass on producing only one staff in the top 1/2 of MLB in ERA in 7 seasons. He also shouldn't get a pass on his handling of the bullpen, and his status as Robin's mentor/shadow-manager, and Williams' mole. Wow, didn't realize that either. IMO the manager is essentially like a principal and your specialized coaches are like teachers. While a principal is the highest regarded person in a school, its the teachers teaching. Robin may be at the top but I blame hitting woes on the hitting coach and I blame pitching woes on the pitching coach. -

QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) you do have a point, but wouldn't also mean that fundamentally is what he promotes. now, i do not know if this is the answer or not. i am just wondering. I believe you are suggesting people like him because he promotes fundamentals? Right? What good does that do if he's not getting them to execute what he's promoting? Why is it that people blame Robin for poor execution while Steverson rarely gets a mention on the board? -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 02:48 PM) Steverson has the cliche going, that he's a brilliant mind. Walker was a buffoon. No reasoning behind the cliches. I read somebody no hitting coach alive can get a veteran to listen. That's why there are so many shifts. They are uncoachable. Why is Steverson considered some brilliant mind? Sans Addison Russell, what hitter has come out of the Oakland organization where he was the roving minor league hitting coach? I follow this board religiously and I feel like I'm the only one to bring up Steverson, and I just don't get that. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 08:35 AM) this is true. 2015 was going to be a bad, bad team under either regime. Yes we are rebuilding, but I think the frustrating (or nauseating) thing is how far this team needs to go. The bears need this last draft class, plus 2 or 3 more draft classes to excel berore they can start realistically contending. Ehhhh, I haven't looked at who's under contract for next year but I truly believe it can be quicker than that. OT (Or OG depending on their plans for Long) and CB are the only glaring holes that need to be fixed to me. I'm an Amos fan (although I was a Vereen fan too and that didnt work) and think he surprises a lot of people. -

The Sox have been the place where veteren hitters go to die. It really boggles my mind. Melky had been a pretty good hitter, even post roids. Then it stopped. Bringing him in was the right thing to do, it just didn't work out. We saw when he was going good for awhile that the Sox were a fairly decent team. His inability to sustain that success is puzzling. To me that falls on the guy no one talks about, and that's Todd Steverson. There's such a negative vibe going on surrounding Robin that Todd seems to get no blame whatsoever. With the pitching the Sox have, I just can't bring myself to thinking they should do a complete rebuild. Maybe you "Throw in the towel" on 2016 and let the kids play but come 2017, when you can potentially throw out a cheap rotation of Sale-Q-Rodon-Fulmer-EJ, there's no way I wouldn't try to compete. Sadly this most likely would mean hitting on a couple FA hitters, and also swinging a trade that more that likely would feature the likes of Montas, Danish, and Micah. I can envision the 3 year plan we hear about. -

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) Ramirez and Saladino back to back. Gotta throw a semi competent bat in between them. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) Perseverance. Also this is why Robin is a terrible f***ing manager. He doesn't think before he puts a line up together. Can't wait for Ramirez to be gone. Just out of curiosity, what would you do differently? Bat Sanchez 2nd with Melky between Lexi and Saladino. Bat Trayce between em? Avi? You can't wait for Lexi to be gone but you're advocating one of those guys hit behind him? -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Yeah - Rose's camp seems to be out in front of this. Admit the relationship but said it was consensual and that their is no basis. Also specifically point out that she is on her 3rd attorney and they are advising her because it is a money grab. That said, none of us know. Yeah, the girl who does the updates on the score or espn, initials JD, is apparently a former lawyer, or studied law, and she said she would be surprised if anyone took this case. I can't see there being anyway she can win regardless of whether or not it happened.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) Based upon the case filed...he invited her over to his place and when their, slipped her something in her drink, expecting it to go down at his place. She wasn't interested, took a cab back home, and they followed her to her home and broke in and she has flash memories of what happened and woke up to an awful scene and her roommate (who wasn't home at the time...got home in the AM and their were some people still their...presume Rose wasn't one of them). She also indicates she got a call a month later from one of the people, who was apologetic saying he wasn't aware she was drugged and thought she wanted it (as that is what Rose and his friends do when they are in LA...they find groupies that want to sleep with all of them). Apparently for a long time Rose had wanted her to do things with him and his boys (and I presume since these were messages...their could actually be evidence backing up that stuff). Again, doesn't prove what she is claiming, but even if the rape part isn't true, I presume the other stuff is probably true and is already damning to his image. Her story for why she didn't go to police isn't exactly uncommon (claims to be from a very christian family and was ashamed). Gotcha, yeah that makes a little more sense. Still I can't see this going anywhere 2 years later. No rape kit, no toxicology, no evidence. Did it happen? Maybe, but your gonna be hard pressed to come up with any proof it did.
