QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) You're playing what if too though. We don't know whether or not they were in discussions for a near MLB ready bat. >>> ok i will buy that, but the point is no one can say for a certain what the sox would have asked. Just for reference sake, the last 2 players the Sox took in the 2nd round are Tyler Danish and Spencer Adams. Sox will get a pick higher than where those guys were taken. and we are still waiting for their development to be finished. the sox has, according to the fo a window of 3 yrs. And we just don't know if they found a guy in trade talks that fit that 3 year window. If that guy wasn't there to be had, I would take the comp pick. I remember many a posters using this logic even before the 7 game win streak.

Then why argue the point? All I know is I will gladly take the comp pick if the return was anywhere near the Kazmir/Leake return.

QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) b/c the player, or players the sox could have gotten will be major league ready player or in another option, that rtn would have had ready to move in quicker. now the sox will get a prospect who may be quite some yrs away from helping the parent club. now if he is used as a trade bait, they are still looking at a minimum of 2 yrs. now if the sox had other players in the trade, same as above. ref bolded, who is to say what the sox does with that pick. no one knows who or what will happen tomorrow. can't bet on the what if path. You're playing what if too though. We don't know whether or not they were in discussions for a near MLB ready bat. I'd be a little surprised if whoever the Sox take with their comp pick isn't better than a guy like Nottingham. Just for reference sake, the last 2 players the Sox took in the 2nd round are Tyler Danish and Spencer Adams. Sox will get a pick higher than where those guys were taken.

I can't see how not trading HURT the "Rebuilding". It didn't help it right now, but it certainly didn't hurt it. Shark was really the only piece that had any sort of value. I imagine a Kazmir like return. A lot of people are high on that return, but was it really better than a potential 25-30 pick? The A's have a worse farm system than the Sox, and Nottingham ranks 8th in that system. I wouldn't be surprised if whoever the Sox take with their comp pick ranks in the top 10 right out the gate.

Honestly, as long as they don't trade Anderson, Trey, or Fulmer I'm OK with whatever else they wanna trade. Sox have had a good deal of success with pitchers so I would be OK with trading Montas, Adams, Danish, and EJ. Anderson and Trey are the only hitters who I think could make an impact in this system. Micah as well but with the way the Sanchize has been playing I think it makes Micah expendable.

Extended trailer for they little B movie I'm in. Apparently the Writer/Directer of the movie knows Lowell Dean who made Wolfcop, which I guess has a pretty big cult following. Guess Lowell likes what he's seen and might get this little B movie, with a 3k budget, to take off. Things seem to be getting pretty interesting.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) If KW is more interested in Ramirez or Sandoval than Mike Napoli, he should be fired...unless they're sending 50% or more of their contracts back and not asking for one of our top 3 prospects. That's what Ibwas wondering... What would it take. Are they at the point where they wood take a guy like Danks, who is on a shorter contract, and a few guys in the 4-15 range? -

I think Hanley doesn't care because his team is garbage right now. I remember a year or 2 ago when the Dodgers were en fuego he was ballin out and having a good ol time. Was unaware his D sucked at 3B sucked though. I thinking as a converted SS he was pretty solid over there. -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) I can already see the complaints on his defense. For 3B of course. I know he's atrocious in the OF....don't remember how his D was at 3B. -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) Boston will be cleaning house this offseason with their coaching staff. This looks like us the first couple months Wonder what they would want for Hanley? Would it take any of the Sox top 3 prospects? -

Minny and Tampa both lost today. Sox could be tied with Tampa and 2 games behind Minny with a win today. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 04:08 PM) I want him if we can somehow dump LaRoche! That's my hope as well. Hoping they might bite the bullet on him. Have a feeling they might give him August to see if he can get hot then if he doesn't, try and work the waiver wire. -

What's the latest on Adam Lind trade talks around the league? What do you think you have to give up for him? -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:14 PM) What was that Beckham QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:14 PM) C'mon Gordon. Perhaps he, knowing De Aza, thought he wouldn't pull up and just run into the tag...Ya know, cuz he's a bad base runner. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) I'm pretty sure he did it to avoid crashing into the wall Ya, with that short wall there's a good chance he topples over it anyway.....or lower his shoulder and risk an injury. I've always thought that fence was so dumb. -

Ya, Sox and Jays would have to get a 3rd team involved if they want Q. -
I'd rather have Cargo......Carlos Gomez that is.
-
Ya, I really love what I've heard about Tim defensively this year. At this point it sounds like he can stick. He's been ballin out in AA, leading the league in hits and stolen bases.
-
I just think the Sox trade for someone who is gonna help next year, and possibly even this year. Can't see them trading their best chip for a piece that's a few years away. Particularly when said piece plays the position that Tim Anderson plays (hopefully).
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) does anyone think this sounds like a move the sox would do....... i do. A 18 year old sure wouldn't fit their 3 year plan, so I kinda doubt it. Plus I think Tim Anderson is type SS of the future.

9th (of 20) game this month they have scored 4 or more runs. I'm not sure if that's good or not, but for this team it seems sort of good. -
White Sox Now First in AL in Pitching WAR
2nd_city_saint787 replied to OmarComing25's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) Which is odd though because if they're not factoring in BABIP it's hard to figure out how they come to the White Sox having such strong starters when our starters have given up 50 more earned runs than the A's. Fangraphs weights strikeouts a lot, they weight innings pitched a lot, so our guys do deserve to be up there, but man we're really, really outperforming our ERA on fWAR by a lot. Is WAR park adjusted? Sox starting pitching is why I think they shouldn't be going into any sort of rebuild. When trading Shark, they absolutely should be looking for a near ML ready piece. If they could actually hit on a couple good bats next year, they could be in good shape.
