QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) Crazy how different the league looks this year. 2 years ago I thought this may be the best crop of qbs at once we've ever had. Now, with Brees, Manning, Romo out or playing like garbage, and QBs like Kaepernick RGIII busting and not many truly stepping up as elite aside from Luck, and suddenly this looks like 10 years ago. All of the offenses have been influenced by great QBs, I wonder how it changes if the talent doesn't turn around. Is Luck even really elite? -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 08:14 PM) Rockies bought out Morneau's option. Do they have any bad contracts where a 1-for-1 swap makes sense for LaRoche (not CarGo)? I'm guessing they wanna play Rosario at 1B. Wouldn't mind Morneau if they dump Laroche.

Sox to hire Greg Sparks as Ast Hitting coach

I mean Steverson specifically. -

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) Does anyone really know the assistant hitting coaches well enough to complain about them? Soxtalk doesn't even complain about the actual hitting coach. Which still befuddles me. -

Well, the majority of the fan base likes Steverson for whatever reason, sooooo..... -
That Gargano/Ciampano vs Jordan/Gable match was one of the better tag team matches I've seen in awhile. Love Jordan/Gable, but wish the had a different finisher. It does nothing for me for whatever reason. ....... Not sure where he heard it, but my brother claims they're supposed to do Zayn vs. Owens at mania.

Do the Sox plan on trying to compete next year? If so, I think you gotta do better than Mark. If not, he's perfect to bridge the gap to Fulmer. I love Mark, but when you look at his 2nd half(an xFIP near 5), I don't think you can rely on him if you're trying to contend. Especially if 2 other parts are John Danks and an unknown in EJ. Still rebuilding? I'm fine with trading Q and going Sale-Rodon-Buehrle-EJ-Danks.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) This is sort of off-topic, but I don't understand why everyone likes Tyler Danish so much. He's only 21, so he's very young, but he put up a 4.50 ERA last year in AA. That's not very impressive to me. I see him as a future bullpen arm, if that. He just turned 21 last month, so he was a 20 year old in AA. I think that's pretty young for that level, and he got to that level at a young age because he had been so good previously. I'm always guilty of cherry picking on this board so why not continue? Danish had 4 games where he was absolutely rocked to the tune of 25 runs in 15 innings. That really inflated that 4.50 era. 20 year olds in AA are probably always gonna have games like that. How he does in year 2 at AA will be more telling as to who he is as a prospect. Probably is a reliever due to his motion, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Still has a shot to start though.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) I read there is another guy in the farm system (can't remember who) who could be better than Rodon and Fulmer. I guess it's great for this organization to have that potential talent since pitching contracts are getting above ridiculous. Whaaaaa? Spencer Adams? Jordan Guerrero? Tyler Danish? Frank Montas? I'm not sure any of those you can say any of those have the potential to be better than Rodon/Fulmer. I do like em all though, last 2 probably end up in the pen.

Who does SoxTalk prefer to win the World Series?
2nd_city_saint787 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
Mets. I have this perception that they're getting it done with strength of their pitching, which is something I think the Sox could model after. I saw "Perception" because I was totally unaware that their hitting had been so good. Plus I love Granderson. -
White Sox looking for new 3B and C

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) How sure of a thing is Frazier's offense. This was the first year i heard of him. Was he steady.? How good were the good months and how bad were his bad months? Are you concerned about him feasting on junk NL pitching? He's had somewhat of a Alex Rios thing going for him. 3rd in ROY voting 4 years ago. Not good 3 years ago. All star last year. All star this year but hit just .220 with a .664 OPS in the 2nd half. He's bring big power, but I wouldn't know what else to expect. Not sure what else is out there, but I'm not sure I hang my hat on Fraizer depending on the price. If you can get him without giving up guys like Q/Anderson/Adams/Fulmer/Rodon/Sale/Abreu/Eaton(throwing the last few in there so there's no confusion), then sure, I wouldn't hate it. -
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) This is what I found from a quick Google search Bridgeport: http://crime.chicagotribune.com/chicago/community/bridgeport Lakeview: http://crime.chicagotribune.com/chicago/community/lake-view QUOTE (shysocks @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) Last 30 days, see Bridgeport vs Lakeview - http://crime.chicagotribune.com/chicago/community Thanks fellas! He responded with a "That's just the last 30 days" I hit him back with a "Well, don't Sox fans catch heat for talking about the past?".

I need ammo. Someone posted a picture calling the Cell ghetto. I replied to it with a comment stating "Fun fact, Wrigleyville has a higher crime rate than the area surrounding the Cell." A guy replied wanting proof. I got that info from some posters here but surely I can't just say "[insert posters name] said it on soxtalk". So where can I find said information?

If some team wants to overpay, sure.

I admittedly haven't seen much of Cespedes in the field, but when I have seen him, he hasn't looked terrible. That gun attached to his body makes up for a lot of mistakes. Sox lack power, and Cespedes has lots of it. Him and Abreu friends? Money talks but maybe he offers up a slight discount to play with him.
-
I would much rather blow a load on Cespedes if the Mets let him walk.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 11:14 AM) http://grantland.com/the-triangle/2015-mlb...ny-joe-girardi/ Interesting article, says Ventura has been average with bullpen management and was actually above-average this past season. ....Because the bullpen was above average. Managers are gonna look as good as their players.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 11:17 PM) The Cubs? I really don't see it. Their bats were really dead in New York. I guess they could come back and win but that's not a championship caliber team. The only way it is one is if their young sluggers start blasting balls out of the park at a rapid pace. After watching some playoff games, I see the Cubs as the weakest team of the four by far. I know we don't value managers on here, but I really believe Madden is the only reason they won 97 games. That's a ton of games. If we had Madden ... wowsie!! He'd have figured a way to win 92 games with our pitching staff! Yeahhhhhh, no on that last statement.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) Well, for this week at least... maybe not for the season I was just playing off the previous post. Would be really nice if he stays healthy. Sounds like White could be back around week 12-13. The final 5 games of the schedule look pretty weak with all games winable. Stay afloat around .500, get healthy and who knows. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 12:14 AM) But it's risky with our ticket happy cops here in Ks. 3 seconds is a winner. The ol Kansas City special huh? Greg, stop caring what other drivers think. No one is gonna pull a gun on you or anything so who cares? If they are mad that you're following the rules of the road, that's on them. -

Looking like Royal is out along with Jeffery. Hurray for a Wilson-Bellamy-Meredeth-Mariani receiving group. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) Lamin Barrow. Forgot all about picking him up. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 01:25 PM) Zach Zaidman @ZachZaidman 1h1 hour ago Bushrod is out. Rolle is doubtful. Leno surprised me by not being terrible against some pretty good pass rushers, would be really nice if he turns into a guy. I believe Bushrod is gone next year so if he and Long can handle the tackle positions that's huge. -

Cody Kessler is making me sad. Also hearing 67% of his 1200+ yards is yards after the catch makes me pretty sad too. Asked why he wasnt getting 1st round consideration and now I'm seeing why.... Moving on to Paxton Lynch as my mid round QB of choice. Hoping the Memphis vs Ole Miss game is on TV next weekend to get a look at him vs a solid team.
