  1. Really need to move Long back to OG next year. He hasn't been God awful every game or anything but he's not a pro bowl tackle like he is at OG.
  2. This thread is missing the words "" All things being equal." All things equal you take Heyward.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) Day after the draft. Yikes, thought it was sometime during spring training.....
  4. When do QO expire? I seem to remember Ervin Santana's QO expiring before he signed. Could be wrong on that, but I do remember that they expire at some point. Wonder if teams might let guys like Fowler and Kendrick wait it out.
  5. Wonder how much Parra gets. He looks like a poor man's Heyward to me. Left handed, good defense, limited pop.
  6. Don't have any names, but I would love a 2 hole hitter(I like Melky further down) who gets on base at a decent clip, and a cleanup hitter who's preferably left handed just to balance the lineup a bit.
  7. Coots field really is something huh? Both Blackmon and Dickerson have a sub .700 OPS in their career away from Coors. I know a lot of people have pointed out CarGo has "Struggled" away from Coors too. Seems as though the market, or really the whole MLB, lacks LH power. With that said, I wouldn't hate taking a chance on Cargo if the price isn't too steep.
  8. Yeah, still way too early to tell. If they add a guy like Upton I think they'll be competing. I'm intrigued on whether they do a Rodon with Fulmer. If they get 20 starts out of Fulmer along with Sale-Q-Rodon they should be a lot of fun to watch.
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:59 AM) Well Inciarte last year was a 5.3 war player making 500K....He may not "fix" an offense by himself. But 2.0 offensive WAR and 2.6 defensive war certainly helps any team. He'd help, but he's not the impact guy I would be trading Q for. I don't care much for projections, but he's projected at 1.6 WAR next year. Blair and Swanson made that AZ/ATL trade to me.
  10. Isn't Zobrist really the first quality bat to be signed? How many quality major league bats have been traded? Inciarte? Castro? Neither are guys who really fix the offense. The hitting market, which is the market the Sox should be in hasn't even really heated up. Relax people.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) Question, with the emergence of Willie Young and Lamarr Houston in the last 3-5 weeks. Do you keep them for next year? I think if they just add some more down lineman like Derek Wolfe, Malik Jackson, or Muhammad Wilkerson, it would make the pass rush better. Not to mention that Goldman has been an absolute beast this year. Addressing the DL in the FA and keeping Young and Houston could make the Bears focus on ILB, secondary, and OL help in the draft. In terms of cuts, I think Rolle and Bushrod could/should be cut. I'm with you on Houston/Young, especially when you consider this looks like a poor draft class for OLBs. I could see them bringing in one of those Broncos lineman for sure. I've read than you can "Bank on Wilkerson getting tagged" so that pipe dream probably doesn't happen. Read they'll be moving on from Damon Harrison. He's a little interesting if Goldman continues looking like he can be a pass rusher. Harrison and Goldman on the line would be incredibly difficult to run on....Probably need more of a pass rusher though.....Like the D linemen in the draft too. This offseason is gonna be very interesting.
  12. Atl upgrades their pitch framing from one of the worst to one of the best. Was just reading an article on Shelby Miller by fangraphs and it showed that 3 Braves pitchers were in the bottom 15 of expected strikes being called balls.
  13. Wow, I think Shelby Miller is underrated here, but 2 top 50 prospects and a 25 year old outfielder who just put up a 3.3 WAR?
  14. https://youtu.be/mmipMRsJW88 6minute video of home runs, and a few good looks at his swing. A lot of the HRs look cheap, but I am a fan. Sign me up.
  15. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 11:12 PM) Do you really think that Hayward is a #3 hitter? I'm sorry, but I can't get enthused about that. I really don't see why he can't be looked at as a #3 hitter. The world champion Royals used Lorenzo Cain as their #3 all year and he isn't what I would call a power hitter.
  16. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 10:55 PM) OK, so what does the first 6 spots in your lineup look like, with Hayward? Heyward has decent pop and gets on base at a good clip. He could bat 3rd with Abreu being the cleanup hitter you're looking for.
  17. Another thing perhaps worth bringing up with people talking about his his potential contract and it hurting the Sox. Next year they will have 28 mill coming off the books between Danks and Laroche.
  18. I know the Gold Glove award has become a bit of a joke, but Upton was a finalist last year. The article talking about him being a finalist for a gold Glove says his range hasn't been great, but he's been playing in some pretty big ball parks.
  19. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) I can't even name one of their songs. I know "Yellow".....Hopefully everything else isn't as depressing as that yawn fest of a song. As for the Bears, yeah, that sucked. Bar I was at was rocking after that return by Thompson. What a let down by Gould. Believe this is twice now they lost because of him. Wonder if the Bears might consider dumping him next season. Could save 2.9mill. Though money isn't really an issue next year.
  20. 100% behind them going after Upton. Sox need impact bats, and the only way you're gonna get em is if you either A. Trade Sale/Q B. Trade some top prospects or C. Make a move like this. C. To me is the best route, especially when they would still have 2 picks in the top 50. Hypothetically speaking, would you trade Spencer Adams for Justin Upton straight up?
  21. For me, it's not about percentage of chances to impact the game, injury possibilities, "whining about Flowers", or anything about unicorns. To me, it's all about the strength of SP and the weakness of hitting in the organization as a whole. Trading Sale or Q, I would prefer Q, would be all about 2017 in my eyes. Yes, they just signed 2 old catcher to 1 year deals and that might signal they want to compete, but if the right deal comes along, they gotta do it. I for one think Rodon is gonna be a legit ace. Carson Fulmer is a front of the rotation guy waiting in the wings. When talking about 2017, you get a whole year to see what you have in Erik Johnson. I think EJ develops into a fine back of rotation guy. At that point you're looking at Sale/Q-Rodon-Fulmer-EJ. Then you start looking at all these guys like Spencer Adams, Frank Montas, Tyler Danish, Jordan Guerrero, and I'm sure there will be other guys to step up as well. I'd bet that one of those guys turn into a solid SP. When you have one of Q or Sale with Rodon and Fulmer, they don't need to be front line type guys, they just need a solid guy to throw in there. I suppose you could go the alternative route and those minor league pitchers for bat, but I don't think you get the same return. I for one am growing tired of going the free agent route to build an offense. I'm fine with adding a piece to a built up young offense but relying to much on free agency isn't gonna get you anywhere.
  22. If Corbin can get back to where he was pre injury, Bradley can live up to his hype, and they add Leake? Look out for the D Backs.
  23. Not sure if this has been talked about, but according to Rosenthal the Dodgers offered up Joc Pederson for Shelby Miller. Miller is Arb eligible the next 2 years, so I'm not sure how that compares to Qs contract, but if Atl doesn't wanna do that deal I would love to step in and offer them Q for Joc. Pairing Jose and Joc as a R/L 3/4 combo would be awesome.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 12:51 PM) Bears have bigger fish to fry than drafting a TE in the 2nd round. I tend to agree, but a lot can be done in FA. If Marty is indeed let go, TE becomes a need.
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) Just so you all know...no one that you mentioned is even on the same planet as Bennett. Bennett is a really good tight end and he is one of the few really good TE's who can also block. This year he has been put in a tough spot, been asked to block a lot more, and hasn't been able to go downfield as much. He's also gotten significantly more attention with injuries to most of our receiving corps and the fact that our oline has needed a lot of help as well (due to injuries / lack of talent). And all that said, he's still amongst the league leaders in TE production. He also is a beast after the catch (from a career perspective). I'm fully aware that no one mentioned is as good as Marty. Like I said, I'd hate to see him go, but the conversation is about him being let go ala Marshall. I also like Jake Butt....Does he make it to the middle of the 2nd?
