  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 11:42 AM) The only thing I do not like about Bennett is he seems to never get any YAC He's 9th among TEs this year in YAC. Was 3rd last year. I would hate to see him go, but this organization seems to have a no nonsense philosophy so he probably is indeed a goner. I agree with others in that I'm not sure you can count on Miller/Lee. I like the idea of Dwayne Allen, or maybe a guy like Clay Harbor for cheap as an insurance policy for Miller.
  2. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) I would really like to see Danny Trevathan signed. Probably a guard also, whichever one Baltimore chooses not to keep. Possibly jump in on a CB who isn't Josh Norman or Sean Smith. Other than that, find the 5 technique and OLB via the draft and lock up Jeffery. Maintain cap flexibility going forward to keep the budding core in tact and use cap space in 2017 as a contingency for any moves that may go awry. I would prefer they go after a tackle and move Long back to guard. I don't think he's been terrible there, but he's not a pro bowl tackle like he is at guard. I do really like Trevathon, and Derrick Wolfe like another poster brought up. I'm less concerned about the CB position after the last 5-6 weeks. Porter being injury prone is the only thing that has me a little worried. I think you bring him back though, he's been a borderline pro bowler this year. Fuller has looked much better and looks to have turned the corner. Need to see more of Callahan, but he looked pretty damn good in that GB game.
  3. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:36 PM) What about making smart baseball decisions, drafting well and good scouting and player development? That could take awhile.
  4. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) Wait, let's examine this. Their value is sky high........so we're not going to trade them? I hope Hahn is willing to examine any possibility, every scenario, for improving this ballclub. If someone wants to overpay you hand either over immediately. And before the inevitable, " we'll never receive fair value," you base every trade proposal independent of others. What will we receive? How many of our holes are filled? This is why us hardcore fans are the best and worst for trade scenarios. We understand our ballclub more than anyone else, but we're so blinded by fan loyalty and our own biases that we can't remove ourselves and make an impartial evaluation of this team. Unless there's a substantial and unexpected offensive upgrade across the entire team, we won't compete. Now, how can we improve that? Platooning Avila and Flowers is only a small step. Granted, there's time to upgrade and I'm not critizing Hahn (yet) but he's not going to build a playoff team based on FA. Someone needs to go, and more than likely, it's going to be Quintana. This. Only other way I see them turning things around is if they dip into the minors. There's not many guys down there you can trade who will get you what you need. Would you rather A. Trade Q. B. Blow up the minors C. Count on Free Agents? D. Waiting for the Sox to develop some hitters could take awhile so you might as well do A. Trade Q, get your small army of hitters, play for 2017 when you got Sale-Rodon-Fulmer-EJ and either someone like Montas/Adams/Danish/Guerrero/Beck or a veteran SP.
  5. Yes please. Should be clear to him that he's a DH, so just plug him in there and let him focus on hitting. Do what ya gotta do to discard LaRoach
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) He might be a lefty, but he still has back end of the rotation potential. If anything, maybe he could be a valuable man out of the pen. Dietrich could very well play 2B instead of Sanchez. Dietrich is a poor man's Ben Zobrist, imo. He did hit pretty well last year, so it's not like he would be strictly on the bench Howie Kendrick has a draft pick attached to him, he's out of the question. Whoops, was unaware Kendrick got tagged.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) Sign 2B/SS Asdrubal Cabrera 2 years/20 million Trade SP Chris Beck and SP Brandon Brennan to the A's for 3B Brett Lawrie Trade 1B Adam LaRoche (Balances the money), SP Frankie Montas, SP Myles Jaye, and OF Adam Engel to the Rockies for OF Carlos Gonzalez and 1B Corelle Prime Trade RF Avisail Garcia to the Phillies for SP Jesse Biddle Trade RP Zach Putnam and SP Thad Lowry for UTIL Derek Dietrich CF Adam Eaton (L) 2B Asdrubal Cabrera (S) 1B Jose Abreu LF Carlos Gonzalez (L) 3B Brett Lawrie DH Melky Cabrera (S) RF Trayce Thompson C Alex Avila (L) SS Tyler Saladino OF J.B Shuck, C Tyler Flowers, 1B/3B Mike Olt, UTIL Derek Dietrich SP Chris Sale (L) SP Jose Quintana (L) SP Carlos Rodon (L) SP Erik Johnson SP John Danks (L) RP Jacob Turner (long man) RP Jake Petricka RP Dan Jennings (L) RP Tommy Kahnle RP Zach Duke (L) RP Nate Jones CP David Robertson Thoughts? If you're looking for a 2nd basemen to bat 2nd, I'd rather have Howie Kendrick. I do still have some blind faith in Avi for some reason, but I get trading him.
  8. In 2013 and 2014 Puig was a top 5 hitter in the league. The lowest they MIGHT go is something like EJ, Micah, and Montas.
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 24, 2015 -> 12:07 PM) Who replaces Q in the rotation? No matter what the Sox do, they won't fill all the holes in one off season anyway and trading Q opens a huge void in the rotation. Take Q out of the rotation and the Sox are left with Sale, Rodon, Danks, EJ and ? Montas and Fulmer aren't ready so now the Sox have to spend limited funds on a FA pitcher that will not match Q's numbers all the while making the rotation worse. Not a good idea considering the Sox play 81 games a year in a hitter friendly ball park. The Sox can sign Freese which takes care of 3B for the next two or three years while the Sox develop or trade for a young 3B. They could (speculating) try using some combination of EJ, Montas, Micah, Sanchez, Avi in a trade with the Marlins for Dee Gordon or Marcel Ozuna without taking much of a hit on ML talent. If the Sox got Gordon somehow, he takes SS. If the Sox get Ozuna, he takes over RF. Either way, the lineup and defense improve without the cost of ML talent or losing Q. Point is, there are other options the Sox can explore besides the idea of trading Q. Imo, the Sox are exploring other options and is one reason why they are still forming a plan. Rumors of EJ being on the trade block kinda goes along with what I'm getting at. For the Sox, I think the idea of trading Q is more of a fall back option if they cannot get other plans/ideas to fall into place. I'm not against trading Q, just not as willing as other fans. Just my perspective is all. IMO, one should ask when does Q need to be replaced? Are the Sox contenders next year? If not, does he really need to be replaced? Trading Q is more about the future than anything. In a way, 2 years from now, Rodon replaces Q, and Fulmer replaces Rodon.
  10. He's been running indoors for like a month now, so this really shouldn't surprise anyone. At the very least running routes in practice will be a big deal for him going into next year.
  11. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 23, 2015 -> 11:48 PM) Guess I'm just not sold on Puig returning to his pre '15 season form. I admit that Puig and Barnes is most interesting though. Another hangup I have with Puig is that if what VanSlyke said is true, its not just Grienke that has/had a problem with Puig but Kershaw as well. I'm hoping the Sox steer clear of that potential train wreck. Still prefer the idea of going after Ozuna. That's fine. I'm not sold on Ozuna myself. He was good in 2014, but every other year, including in the minors, he's been fairly mediocre. He MIGHT be better than Avi.
  12. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 23, 2015 -> 10:22 PM) Don't see that happening since the Dodgers have too many outfielders as is. If the Dodgers trade Puig they will likely be looking for pitching which brings us back to Q. Imo, if the Sox are going to trade Q, they can do better than Puig. I'd pass. Depends on... 1. Which Puig you think you're getting? In his first 2 years he was a top 5 offensive player in the league. 2. Would you rather have a one possible super star or a couple good players? I happen to think Puig is gonna more of the player we saw the first 2 years vs. last year. In that case I don't think you're gonna get a better player than Puig. Now with the state of the Sox, maybe it would be better to go after a few lesser guys. That said, if they can get something like Puig AND Austin Barnes I think that's huge. 2 starters for 1, 1 guy who should be elite and one guy who fills a hole.
  13. They had to do something with Sheamus's briefcase at some point. I'm just "Glad" it happened while Rollins was champ.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 22, 2015 -> 10:56 PM) Reigns made me mark out for Sheamus Crew of dudes I was with popped so hard. One of my buddies legit hurt himself jumping off the couch. I called this when it was first announced. Wasn't a huge fan of it when making the prediction, but I actually like it if he's sticking with the authority. Sheamus isn't THAT bad and he's been fairly decent on the mic in the past. I think it'll be a decent run.
  15. Broncos 2nd and 3rd levels are their strengths though. Not sure those little screens work against them.
  16. Nice to see Deonte Thompson elevated from the Practice Squad. I think he's next in line for return duties. Wouldn't be surprised to see him back there returning today. Edit- Apparently that happened 12 days ago. Don't remember seeing the news.
  17. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Nov 21, 2015 -> 01:39 AM) Blowing it up is painful but if you look at the Cubs and Astros, both were in the postseason this year and it looks like both will be there consistently in the coming years. Did they have any sort of core though? I don't really know where to begin with either team as far as when their rebulids began, but I'm guess at no point did they have the building blocks like the Sox have now.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 09:18 PM) Q, Adams, and Fulmer for Puig and Corey Seager? Would that be fair for both teams? Probably, but I wouldn't do it. IMO the only reason you can trade Q is because you have guys like Fulmer and Adams on their way up. Yes, you'd still have Sale and Rodon but you're left with more questions after that. I like EJ, but he might not even be a guy. Danish and Montas might be relievers......Fulmer and Adams are close to untouchable in my book.
  19. Sort of off topic, but where do you guys think Eddy Alvarez starts?
  20. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 12:20 AM) Am I the only one who thinks Hahn wants to blow it up and do a Astros/Cubs rebuild but KW and JR are standing in the way of it? I sure hope no one wants to completely blow this up. Trade one of Q or Sale for the "Small army of bats" they talked about and you should be close to where you need to be. Pitching staff in 2 years should still be really good with Sale/Q-Rodon-Fulmer-EJ and there's a good chance we see guys like Adams, Danish, Montas, Clark, Guerrero, and maybe even Beck pushing for that 5th spot. Add that "Small army" of hitters to Abreu, Eaton, Anderson and maybe some other guys develop and poof.
  21. Is Baez's stock really even that down right now? Dude had a .917 OPS in AAA last season. Also, in reference to Chilli's post with stats, if all Schwaber is is a prime Adam Dunn, that's still a great, great player to have. I would love to have both guys on the south side.
  22. If it's cool with Abreu, its cool with me. Q for Puig and that catcher.
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) How about the rocks that he has for hands? Punching things is sure to soften em up.
  24. Am I the only one hoping Micah's defense comes around and he is the starting 2nd basemen next year? Read that he's taking up boxing to improve his footwork.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2015 -> 06:35 PM) I'd like to see us study how the browns attacked the broncos d. But, I'm very nervous about their defense. They are clearly very good. They've kept a bad, bad offense in the playoff lead for their division. Browns only had 298 yards against the Broncos.
