Freddy Garcia vs. Daniel Hudson vs. other options
2nd_city_saint787 replied to Marky Mark's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I really think this isnt much of a discussion at all IMO, Freddy only had 2 games last year where he allowed more than 3 runs and one of em was his first game of the year, only allowed more than 1 walk in 2 games and allowed more than 7 hits only once. Ill take that as my fifth starter. Plus if memory serves me correct Freddy was supposed to come into next season even stronger and have more velocity next year (dont remember exactly what was said but i know something along those lines were said) but of course if he doesnt do well its nice to have hudson step in -
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) If he can prove to be the .290-40 double or so hitter he was, Rios would be a pretty awesome #2 hitter with the gap power he's got. I'm not holding my breath though. rightfully so butt i see no reason why he cant be that guy, hes not old nor do i think he juiced so theres no reason why he cant be what he once was.

1. Pierre 2. Rios (come on guys i highly doubt he puts up the numbers he did for us again, theres no reason to believe that) 3. TCQ 4, Kong 5. Jones ( i have a feeling he takes the job out right) 6. Beckham 7. AJP 8. Lexi 9. Teahen

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) I think KW is still trying to make the big deal, if he can, but you can never guarantee that. Plan B is probably a rental DH as others have suggested - and if it is Thome, for example, I think that's a not-bad lineup. If you platoon Thome and Jones at DH, 2/3 on Thome, the lineup would be something like: Pierre Ramirez Quentin Thome/Jones Konerko Beckham Rios Pierzynski Teahen 3 through 7 may be in some other order. But that is not a bad lineup. Not great either, but, probably league average overall, with the potential to be more than that. That, combined with the pitching the Sox have, makes the Sox the favorite to win the ALC, in my view (barring some other huge moves elsewhere in the division). The key though, regardless of what they do for DH, is Rios getting back to being Rios, and Quentin staying healthy. I love having beckham lower in the lineup but with what we have i think he fits perfect in the 2 spot. Though i wouldnt be apposed to having AJ in the 2 hole like he was last year(?) and succeeded. Im a bit iffy (but not apposed to it) with ramirez there because he doesnt take a lot of pitches.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) I don't want to just win the division. I want to kick the yanks and the red sawks arses and win the World Series. I don't want to win the division just to get pummeled in the playoffs. I see your point though. A power bat would put us that much closer. Its gonna be tough to have an offense as good as the yanks and sawks. I agree the sox would be better with another bat but so would every team not previously mentioned. At the same time a good pitching staff can shut down a good offense so if our staff is clicking then weve got a chance in the post season.

just like Panic! at the disco you guys need to stop being emo, ya i went there. This team is fine! Harold Reynolds who i take as having a good baseball IQ has said with the addition of Juan Pierre we are in the position to win the division, the other guys on MLB TV seemed to agree. The worst player on our team is presumably Andruw whos gonna give us 25-30 HR (well maybe not if hes cycling with kotsay who i think can hit .280 with some decent power).
-
based on whats on there you think beckham should be on there?

how about hookin i tup the the Projecting a new decade of MLB stars??? or atleast tell us is any of our guys made it. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insider/new...%3fid%3d4740601

QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 02:49 AM) Quentin replaces Dye in RF. That's an upgrade, *if* TCQ is healthy. Andruw Jones replaces Dewayne Wise as a bench outfielder. That's an upgrade. Kotsay replaces Brian Anderson as a bench outfielder. Upgrade. Juan Pierre replaces Pods as a starting outfielder (RF). That should be a small upgrade. Rios replaces the centerfielder-of-the-month that we've had since Rowand left. Upgrade. Vizquel replaces Brent Lillibridge as backup infielder. Need I say more. Peavy + Garcia replace Contreras + Colon in the rotation. Major upgrade. Putz joins the pen, replacing someone. Upgrade, if Putz is healthy. The only area that's gotten weaker is DH, with the rotating-DH likely producing less output than Thome. I think Kenny is having a good offseason / late season of 2009. EXACTLY! I dont see why everyone has been so down on this team....Harold Reynolds said last night that theyve put themselves in the position to win the division or something along those lines and with this staff and a hot player or 2 we could go deep into the playoffs if not win the whole thing....This thread is about andruw jones, i predict he will comeback player of the year with a .260 .320 30/85 and fit nicely in the lineup behind PK -

QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 10:13 PM) Except the dodgers benched Pierre and Jones when they had them??? with an OF of Manny Eithier and Kemp a lot of players would have been benched -
Jenks, Ramirez, and Dayan for Berkman
-
QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) I would totally be down for Prince Fielder a deal for him would start with beckham no doubt maybe Jenks, Flowers, Hudson and then some

if its a free agent im hopin for Adam Laroach or russell branyon

seems as though quentin is another question mark you guys have wasnt it just his wrist the last 2 years other than that hes been fine, and the wrist was his fault. I see no reason why he cant stay healthy enough to hit 30... as far as the rogers center goes http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor/_/sort/HRFactor USCF is ranked 4th in the most HR friendly ballpark while the Rog is ranked 17th

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) LOL. Alex Rios sure as hell ain't hittin 25 HR. Most of those are huge reaches. Our pitching staff better be 2005 stellar cause our offense is gonna suck. QUOTE (WCSox @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) Yeah, his .847 OPS last year really sucked. I have no problem bringing him back for $5M or so next year. You have some very overly-optimistic projections there. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) Those projections are indeed very optimistic, but I actually could see Beckham hitting 25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) If Beckham hits 25 homers next year he is either juicing or hitting .250. apparently my predictions were out there but i really think none of em are out of the realm of possibility Rios hit 24 in Toronto which is not only plays its home games in a pitchers friendly ballpark, youre also playing a ton of games in the AL East. Playing in the cell and feasting on some AL central pitching I think he could easily hit 25 maybe even closer to 30. I think a lot of people will tell you Beckham can put up 25 in a full season, he put up 14 in 103 games plus hes only gonna get better. Andruw jones hit 17 in 82 games, 25-30 should be rather easy, its just a matter of can we deal with the low AVG hes more than likely gonna put up. Teahan is the only prediction i think i may have over shot but he put up 18 in 109 games in 06 and i see him putting up those kind of numbers in the cell around a winning ball club in his first year where hes trying to prove something

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) Nevermind the fact they still hit 200 homeruns. Oh and had the best staff and pen this organization has ever had. All of which 2010 will not likely have. this could be the end of the offseason for kw and if it is id like to see 1. Pierre LF 2. Becks 2b 25HR 3. Rios CF 25HR 4. CQ RF/DH 30HR 5. Kong 1B 30HR 6. AJP C 10HR 7. Jones RF/DH 25HR 8. Teahan 3B 20HR 9. Ramirez SS 20HR get 15 homers from the bench and you got your 200 homers to go along with a pretty good staff

could be something (most likely not)

QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) Would you guys trade for AGonzo with a package centered around Alexei Ramirez? Something like Ramirez, Flowers, Morel, Retherford, & Nix If yes, what options are out there for a replacement SS? I would and Omar Vizquel would be fine for a year or O dawg should come at a decent price. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:52 PM) What a shock (not). Sucks to be the Angels. So in two years they will have lost Tex, K-rod, Figgins and Lackey. I'd imagine they're really gonna step up their pursuit of Halladay. As for the Red Sox, the first 3 in their rotation is as good as it gets. But there's no way they resign Bay now. And they've got a giant hole at 3B (assuming the Lowell trade goes through). They're probably a lot more open to dealing Buchholz for a big bat now. I think they just start Youklis at 3rd and have Martinez or Kotchman play 1B. So is Cameron the answer to Bay?? or do you think they still go after Holliday or Bay?? If so Id love to get JD Drew or Ellsbury which ever one they decide to deal they are both great fits, either lead off or LH power bat.

QUOTE (earthshiner @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:58 AM) by my count 9 guys from that list were sox in the decade i count 12 (if ya count andruw) and 14 have been on the sox at one point in time (Mike Cameron and Sosa out of this decade) Andruw Jones 20 Mark Buehrle 26 Jim Thome 27 Javy Vazquez 29 Maggs 59 Peavy 62 Durham 71 Colon 78 Garcia 85 Jose Valentin 88 Frank Thomas 97 Carlos Lee 98 a sandlot game where theres no catcher youd have 1. Jones CF 2. Durham 2B 3. Thomas 1B 4. Thome 3B (correct me if im wrong he came up as a one right?) 5. Maggs RF 6. Lee LF 7. Valentin SS Buehrle Peavy Vaz Colon Garcia thats sexy

QUOTE (coco1997 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) Former Cub utility player who looks like Miles Davis. if he comes out to miles davis and the cool then this is a great signing, bat him leadoff so we can hear the song more

Whats the word on where Russell Branyan is gonna end up? He's kinda in the same class as Jack Cust in that he K's a ton but I think he brings more pop like Im thinkin 40+ here at the cell.
-
Im all for bringin in jack cust to DH his OBP has been .408 .375 and .356 in his 3 years of full time play which anything over .350 im fine with. he should straight up mash at the cell, id say about 35 dongs and 80-90 ribs, he'll come a lot cheaper than Matsui while only sacrificing Ks and batting average, everything else would be about the same between the 2.

whos the chick?

im in love
