QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 09:45 AM) @InsideTheSox: #WhiteSox vs. Sea: Pierre7, Beckham4, CQ9, PK3, AJ2, Rios8, Kotsaydh, Teahen5, ARam6. Floyd pitching. Not only is this today's lineup but I do believe it's the opening day lineup. Id like to see Teahen and AJ switched come opening day. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The White Sox have switched their B game with the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Camelback Ranch stadium Monday morning because the recent rains caused their practice fields to be deemed unplayable. The B game will start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. so workers can prepare the grounds for the Sox's regularly scheduled 1 p.m. game with Seattle. The B game probably won't be open to the public, although there was no official announcement. so the game should be over then right? I know it says it wasnt open to the public but do you know if theres a box score or any info on the game floating around? -
ah just wondering if bein the NL had somethin to do with, way to come out with the stats
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 12:01 PM) Let's not make up stats even for guys we like: Peavy has completed 1 game since 2006 and 7 in his career, with only 3 shutouts (all in 2005). He tends to throw a lot of pitches and is often therefore gone after 6-7. your last line kinda answers my question but do you think being in the NL where maybe he gets pinch hit for could be a reason why he has a lack of complete games?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Alexei over all of our starting pitchers? Wow. Like ive said before last year Alexei was being compared to derek jeter when it comes to fantasy so it doesnt come as much a surprise to me

has nothing to do with gordon sucking in the day but i wanted to find a beckham thread to throw it in http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/baseball...10top200keepers Article is talkin about the top 200 keeper league rankings Beckham #53 Q #56 Lexi #113 Rios #116 Peavy #130 Danks #147 Floyd #185 itd be nice to add #35 too...

QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 06:21 PM) I would get behind a Quentin deal. To me, there's no guarantee CQ is ever going to produce like he did 2 years ago again. I'd take Agon 100 times out of 100 over Quentin. Not me because its gonna be the combination of Q and Adrian thats gonna get you the best chance to get to the championship, without Q all our "we need a LH power bat" will turn into a "is PK a good enough power bat"
-
Any teams out there that have been in talks about wanting to trade for a front of the rotation starter that we could pull off a 3 team trade where we send Floyd/Danks to that team then Flowers and Danks and say Morel if you have to to the padres, you should get back a couple good spects for floyd/danks and ya send them along with Flowers/Danks/Morel and you should be able to get a deal done and you get to hold onto hudson whom i feel will be as good as danks/floyd if not better

Its lookin like we'll see C AJ 1B Dayan 2b Gordo 3b Teahen SS Lexi LF Pierre CF Andruw Jones! RF Jordan Danks! Pitching Johnny Danks, Sergio Santos and more

The 2010 DH Slot -- What it is, what it isn't
2nd_city_saint787 replied to CyAcosta41's topic in Pale Hose Talk
great read. I for one actually like a Jones/Omar DH by committee so to speak. Like you said they each bring something different to the table, when Omars in the lineup Id like to see him in the 2 spot and move Gordo down in the lineup to get the power/ability to drive in runners, and then when jones is in the lineup you keep Gordo in the 2 and have jones in the middle of the lineup to play the power role. I like these lineups JP/GB/Q/PK/MT/AR/AJ/AP/AR JP/OV/Q/PK/MT/GB/AR/AP/AR or to give Q some rest JP/OV/GB/PK/MT/AR/AJ/AP/AR then when PK needs rest JP/OV/GB/Q/MT/AR/AJ/AP/AR EITHER PUT OMAR AT 3RD OR PUT GORDO BACK THERE AND PUT OMAR AT 2ND I COULD GO ON AND ON IF YOU WANT ME TO -
QUOTE (b-Rye @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 11:48 PM) Bored... so I'm comparing opening day of 2005 to 2010. 2005/2010 C- AJ Pierzynski AJ Pierzynski - 5 years older, 2005 wins. 1B- Paul Konerko/Paul Konerko - 5 years older, 2005 wins. 2B Tadahito Iguchi/Gordon Beckham - Tossup, but Beckham has more upside than Tad had. 3B: Joe Crede/Mark Teahen - Gotta go with Crede, especially on defense. SS: Juan Uribe/Alexei Ramirez - Very close with Uribe's superior Defense. RF: Jermaine Dye/Carlos Quentin- Very Close, CQ gets win for defense and return to 08 form. CF: Aaron Rowand/Alex Rios - Rowand all the way, nothing shows me Rio's will be any better than Aaron. LF: Scott Podsednik/Juan Pierre - Very close, tie. DH: Frank Thomas/Carl Everett - Andruw Jones/Mark Kotsay - Frank Thomas, no question. Bench: Pablo Ozuna/Omar Vizquel - Omar for the late inning defense. Willie Harris/Jayson Nix - Willie for the speed, defense. Brian Anderson/Andruw Jones or Alejandro De Aza (Depends on roster spot with pitchers) - Prefer Jones if his defense is any close to past form. Timo Perez/Mark Kotsay - Timo was faster, better defense, more useful. Chris Widger/Ramon Castro - Ramon Castro considering he actually hits this year. SP: Mark Buehrle/Mark Buehrle - Close, but Buehrle is also 5 years older. Freddy Garcia/Jake Peavy - Peavy all the way. Jon Garland/John Danks - Danks is more consistent. Jose Contreras/Gavin Floyd - Tie, both around high 3's in era, occasional great starts and bad starts. Orlando Hernandez/Freddie Garcia tie, expect mid 4's-5 in era, not too many innings, injuries. Closer: Shingo Takatsu/Bobby Jenks Jenks more proven. Setup: Dustin Hermanon/Matt Thorton Thorton's great, no injury risk Pen: Damso Marte/JJ Putz Tie, Putz has to bounce back from injury but has more upside. Cliff Pollite/Randy Williams Both had similar prior years, Pollite is was more proven. Brandon Mccarthy/Carlos Torres or Dan Hudson Very similar situation Luis Vizcaino/Scott Linebrink - Vizcaino for the Linebrink meltdowns and crapness. Neal Cotts/Tony Pena - Tie, both had similarly bad previous years and similar career numbers. Winner: 2005, 13 - 12 Think both teams are very similar, 2005 had better defense/power/over hitting, 2010 has slightly better starting pitching, bullpens are similar. I too am bored so ill play along. C Im gonna give the slight edge to 05 1B 05 hands down pauly had a monster year 2B 10 I expect Gordo to meet if not exceed all our expectations 3B Im actually gonna go with teahen here i think he matches credes 22/62 but will but up a beter average/obp/2B/runs SS Lexi and its not even a question for me RF If healthy imma say Q CF Rios all the way, the guys a former all star and i dont see his struggles continuing LF 05 Pods, any other pods=push DH no question Thomas/Carl they combined for 35 homers and 113 RBI (just saw that stat for the first time today and wow never realized so much production came out of the 2) my boredom is turning into tiredness so im gonna skip the bench and relievers 05 mark 10 Peavy 10 danks if the blister is no longer an issue im with you...Push 10 Sweaty Freddy and its not even a question, i talked about this awhile ago last year freddy only had 2 games where he allowed more than 3 runs (one of those being his first game back from injury) and also only 2 games where he walked more than 1 batter where he a (yes i know he only pitched 9 games) jenks 05

QUOTE (striker @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) Can you tell me what Cooper did to fix these players? this guys goin crazy, drop the subject bro.........we dont know the inner workings of a pitching coach, but its clear that most the guys on your failures list were actually better when they came to the south side, and its def not because theyre coming to a pitchers ball park. you were getting bashed because you called em failures simple as that and there not end of story

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 05:43 PM) Cowley isnt very respected in the locker room or by the players, his good sources are personnel and other media people. As for A-Gon, dont count on it. But I would keep an eye on a big bat down in Houston. speculation?

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) Anyone rooting for Daniel Cabrera to get his head straight and develop some control and at least have a decent ST? I am. correct me if im wrong but isnt he having the same kind of problems as Thornton had before coop fixed him, anyone think theres a possibility coop fixes him? Im def rootin for it to happen. -
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 02:56 PM) I can see the need to try and sign AJ as the catching will be thin if 1) We trade Flowers and 2) None of the minor league prospects develop as quickly (Cole Armstrong and Don Lucy) are the high AAA candidates with Josh Phegley and Miguel Gonzalez coming up through A/High A. I am concerned both Armstrong and Lucy will not be everyday catchers and the catcher FA market now looks thin if Mauer gets locked up for a long term contract. Both Phegley and Gonzalez are each 2-3 years away. Even if AJ doesnt resign for cheap/we dont have the money with extending or resigning Agon(which is the reason this is brought up) I wouldnt be against just throwing whoevers stronger defensively armstrong or lucy back there or hell if we know AJs gonna be gone because of the reason were gonna be paying AGon then id excelerate Gonzalez through the minors this season and get him ready for next year.
-
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) With Paulie coming off the books this and AJ as well (Catcher may be a problem) that is 18.5 mil committed contracts for 2011 that can be put towards a backloaded extension. Then after 2011 you have Buerhle and Pierre coming off the books for another 22 mil. Some money will be there. Just depends what the Sox determine their real need to be and all of the the upcoming arb rases/extensions. Could be interesting in July. I think AJ could come back for cheap for a year or 2 but if you can get Adrian here and sign him to an extension then you have a contender for years to come. This guys putting up numbers in Petco which is one of the hardest places to hit, I think 50 HR isnt out of the question. A 3/4/5 of Beckham/Adrian/Q or Q/Adrian/Beckham and then hell 6/7 with Teahan/Rios if you can keep mitchell and throw him at the top of the lineup...this could be the team of the decade.
