wow this guys a loser, and im normally a nice guy but i calls em as i see em.... "Has nothing better to do than stir the pot about something he's not involved with." thats one of his quotes, are you seriously gonna say something like, nothing better to do???? look at yourself bro you're going to another message board looking at what people are saying then going to another board and posting s*** on another one......you talk about whining well look at you, youre whining about other people whining....makes me wonder how old you are? what youre past was like? do you have a girlfriend/wife? if so does said girlfriend/wife control you? Do you not like the fact she controls you so you have to go back to a message board and pick fights with people over the internet because you cant pick a fight with your lady?? Perhaps the said problem before is with your parents that you live with? Perhaps im wrong, perhaps youre just one of those losers that loves stirring up drama because it makes there life livable in between the endless nights of drinking at the bar or nights at home playing world of warcraft. If you need any life advice im a good guy to talk to, my fathers in jail, ive experienced heartbreak, ive lost my job, ive gotten my 07 car repoed and ive been through just about anything and everything so why dont you come on over here and we'll talk.....oh wait....sorry

I didnt follow the most likely part of the poll but oh well were not voting for the president here, I'm hoping for Orlando Hudson, do i think it will happen no, not at all. I think Teahen was brought in to play 3rd base and they're going to keep him there. What I'd love to see is O-dawg brought in and put at 2B and bat 2nd in the lineup thus putting beckham back at 3B and into the 3 hole or probably 5th or 6th with the potential to end up in the 3rd. Then you either DH Teahen or put him in the OF and DH CQ. I'd like this move a helluva lot more then adding thome back on and having him clog up the bases with PK and AJ. I'd love to see Rios have a year like we all know hes capable of and have the top of the lineup look like.... 1. Pierre 2. Hudson 3. Beckham 4. CQ 5. Rios If PKs gone next year acquire a 1B with some decent wheels, I know you're not gonna find many but im sure there's a lot faster than paulie. Just go out there with a team thats gonna score from 1st on a double.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) If the Sox get Thome, Ozzie better not play him as the full time DH batting third or fourth in the order. If that's the case, I hope they don't re-sign him. What I would like to see is the Sox sign Thome for $2M or less, and platoon him at DH with Nix (or Jones if Jones makes a miraculous showing in ST). Bat him around fifth in the order, but late in games when it's a key situation and they bring in a tough left hander to face him, pinch hit for him. Using Thome like this would make him a great asset to this team. Misusing him as a full time DH and relying on him to carry the offense would make him a liability. to spin off what this guy was talking about, in the event this does happen and we are platooning Jim Jones and jones fails like a lot of you think he will (im not one of em i think he'll do well but) do the sox just go with... A. Thome all the time over B. Now that we resigned Castro Platoon Tyler Thome or C. you want Tyler to spend the season behind the plate to sharpen his skills and not have him DH so you go to a Jim Nix platoon or D. Give the job to Dayan assuming he has a good spring and early season and have him sit on the bench with thome and talk hitting so you go with Dayan Thome so A.Thome B.Tyler Thome C.Jim Nix D.Dayan Thome E.Jim Jones isnt gonna fail so this poll is pointless

Last night i was think just outta no where man wouldnt it be somethin if everyone on the team reverts back to there career years on this team??? If we had a machine or some kind of spell to put on these guys to have them put up there career numbers it would look like this.... AVG OBP HR RBI SB 1. Juan Pierre LF .327 .378 2 55 46 2. Omar Vizquel SS .333 .397 5 66 42 3. Carlos Quentin DH .288 .394 36 100 7 4. Andruw Jones CF .263 .347 51 128 5 5. Paul Konerko 1B .277 .359 41 117 1 6. AJ Pierzynski C .312 .360 11 74 3 7. Alex Rios RF .297 .354 24 85 17 8. Alexei Ramirez 2B .290 .317 21 77 13 9. Gordan Beckham 3B .270 .347 14 63 7 BN Mark Kotsay .314 .370 15 63 8 Mark Teahen .290 .357 18 69 10 With that line on Omar id put him at 3rd and bat 2nd 1. Jake Peavy 19-6 2.54 2. Mark Buehrle 16-8 3.12 3. Gavin Floyd 17-8 3.84 4. John Danks 12-9 3.32 5. Freddy Garcia 18-6 3.05 ERA BAA(batting average against) Pena 3.27 .207 Linebrink 1.83 .209 Putz 1.38 .153 Thornton 2.67 .196 Jenks 2.63 .230 I am obviously bored lol but i wonder what some other teams would look like, got a feeling our team would stack up against anyone.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) Thome isnt coming here, so whats the point of the argument. Exactly it would of happened already if it was going to happen. KW is done IMO, he got his guys, and used the rest of the money to avoid arb with Danks, Q, Pena, and whoever else i wanna say there was one more guy. I think Andruw playin under a hard as like Bobby Cox was is gonna work out for him and why dont we all just keep our mouths shut till he doesnt, hes on our team deal with it.

QUOTE (heirdog @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 02:26 PM) LenDale White gave up tequila, got in the best shape of his life and he ended up riding pine while Chris Johnson shattered all kinds of records. Maybe shedding a few pounds will increase Jones' bat speed again but its likely the age factor, looping swing and overall declining of skills will play a bigger role in his performance than shedding a little off the love handles. lol thats not a fair comparison Chris Johnson is a flat out beast, and LenDAle white was never really good

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) Christ, he hit .249. He was also limited to 417 PA with the Sox and still hit 23 HR or about 1 HR every 18 PA, approximately the same rate he showed in '07. If it were as simple as just getting in shape Andruw Jones would have turned his career around by now. It's humorous that we get this standard pre-spring training fare talking about people being in the best shape of their lives or taking up Yoga/Pilates/Balet or getting laser eye surgery or discovering some new training technique that's going to turn them into a superstar and every year people just gobble it up and of course every year it amounts to jack s***. Andruw Jones hits the StairMaster and suddenly it's the year 2000 again. Take a look at the last line of my post im all for bringing in thome. I think the only way we see a DH brought in is if its a few weeks into spring training and Jones looks like hes looked the last few years. I see no reason why Jones can hit 30+ HR and hover around .250
-
Andruw jones is in the best shape of the last decade.....Last year Jim hit under .250 with 23 HR, yes there's gonna be a huge drop off in OBP but I believe AJ can easily match that .250 23 and above if he truly is in the best shape in a decade, a decade in which he averaged 33 HR......Id love to have Thome back because hes a lefty but i have a strong feeling were going into next year with jones as rotating DH with CQ and there will be days where Kotsays at 1B and PKs the DH.

Love "ghost hunting" havent it dont it much lately but i have a couple stories. Gypsie Graveyard does not like me, first time i went nothing happened except some bad gut feelings and feelings of paranoia so me and my friends were messing around and having a snowball fight. well a few weeks later my girlfriend decided to tell me she felt something pull the middle of her jacket and she didnt wanna say anything because she thought wed think shes crazy, well after this was said we went back the next day and no lie i was wandering off apparently by myself, i thought i was walking with one of my friends, so i start "talking to my friend" and hes responding in simple yes or no answers, rather mean like and then i start asking where the virgin mary went because the spot i was in was where i coulda sworn the virgin mary was. well i kept asking "my friend" and freaking out like whered it go and "he" said over there and i look to see where "hes" pointing and no lie there was no one there. Another time i went there my brand new 07 pontiac g6 failed to start 6 times after i saw a rather large black figure approach me that looked like a huge dog. another time there the group i was with (me included) swears we say then angel in the middle of the place move its wings. and thats just at Gypsies if i remember i will come back later on tonight and post more s***

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) From 2007-2009, Jermaine Dye has put up a .801 OPS against righties and a .913 OPS against lefties. His OPS against LHP was at least 50 points higher than against RHP every one of those single seasons. You can say good hitters are good hitters, and Jermaine Dye is a good hitter. However, he's an average to even below average hitter against RHP (esp. if he's less than 100%) and an above average hitter against LHP. The numbers don't lie. JD just doesn't fit in this lineup right now as constructed. Im not a big stats nerd when it comes to things other than BA OBP HR RBI so i wont chime in on this OPS argument but 3 of the past 5 years JD has hit over .280 against RHP (yes the other 2 years were bad), 2 of those years he actually hit better against RHP, and each of the last 5 years hes hit 20 or mor HR against RHP. I believe JD is gonna go into next year with somethin to prove and I dont see why he couldnt put up the number he put up in 08 where he batted .294 (.285 against LHP) with a .340 obp 23 HR and 69 RBI against RHP. Im all for JD being brought back you can cycle him at DH 1B and RF

Who are you pulling for as the DH?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 08:51 AM) He hits L, not switch. There are apparently different schools of thought here. KC kept Jacobs around to let Kila cook one more year in AAA, but that ended up being pretty much a fail for both involved. There is potential there for both OBP and power - the question is, is there enough of both for him being an every day 1B. My opinion, based on what I've read in reports, having seen him play, looking at stats, etc., is that he's legit. I think he's a great fit for the Sox, if they can get him. Others, however, seem to think he'd be a mediocre bat for that position, at best. So its all subjective. As it turns out though, the Royals appear ready to give him his shot. There was a huge crowd at 1B previously, now not so much, so he'd be harder to acquire. I'd still try if if were my call, but, I doubt its happening. No way is there room for him what with Fields and Butler bein a lock for 1B and DH
