I am personally all for Andruw at DH full time he more than likely wont hit for a high average but he has the potential to drop 30+ HR. If we were to go another route here are some options that could be better than jones. Rick Ankiel Hank Blalock Russell Branyon Joe Crede Jack Cust Johnny Damon Carlos Delgado Jermaine Dye DARRIN ERSTAD! The Giambino Brian Giles Vlad Mike Hampton....dirty pop Orlando Hudson... Doesnt give you pop but him in the 2 spot and movin becks down would add a lot to the team. Mike Jacobs Adam Laroach Xavier Nady Gary Sheffield Miguel Tejada Jim Thome Randy Winn and last but certainly not least DA MEAT HOOK Dmitri Young forgot all about him thats 21 guys who have the possibility of comin aboard to dh and have the possibility of being better than jones. Idk how many teams have how many holes to fill but IMO a few of those guys will be available in spring training if jones or flowers dont emerge as clear cut everyday players -
milton bradley may be a headcase but he can be a great hitter, his obp numbers along with Figgins and Ichiro make the top of the order realllllly good its too bad Russell Branyon wasnt brought back to go along with those 3 guys obp.

he'd look incredible in the 3 hole for this team. Id give up one of Hudson/Danks/Viceido/Morel and maybe a lower level spect with some potential. I agree getting a 3rd team involved would be better just in case the guy we send em becomes really good but at the same time this guy had 64 XBH(20 HR, 38 Doubles, and 6 triples), 21 stolen bases, and the past 2 years he put up .309/.300 BA .397/.394 OBP .549/.489 Slg .946/.833 ops if he keeps that up i think wed have a better player than hudson.....Plus we have the same birthday -

Decent Sox 2009-10 Offseason + Preview Article
2nd_city_saint787 replied to ozzfest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
noticed the part about how juan and ozzie were together in Florida. Hopefully ozzie gets em back to what he was doin in FLA, that .326/.374/.407 with 45 bags would look great a top this lineup -
First thing i thought was singleton batting 6th because we has 2 many righties on that team i see that being the case with Teahen or AJ this year only with a lot more success. As far as the 2000 season goes this was my first year of really following white sox baseball a few weeks in and i remember bein hooked. If there was a day game i would fake sick so i could stay home from sick, my mom never caught on to that thank god and when there'd be a 3 o clock game i remember turnin down my buddies offer to come over and play smackdown. oh the good ol days.

nope im almost certain he said it, the kid can drive in some runs.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 20, 2009 -> 10:21 PM) I dislike both of those lineups. You've stuck Beckham so low in the order it will cost him AB's. I want him hitting either 2 or 3. AJ really doesn't belong as a # 3 hitter, he's just not an RBI/power guy like I want in that spot. And it's going to take a step forwards from Teahen for him to be an adequate option for #5. ANd in either case, you have a stretch where 5 of 6 hitters are RH and they're only broken apart by Teahen, that sets up quite well to have a RHP rip through the lineup. I believe Ozzie has said he wants to bat beckham 6th.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 20, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) For what reason? Jones put up a .782 OPS last year, and has a .696 OPS over the last 3 years combined. Thome put up .865 and .847 OPS numbers the last 2 years. Delgado put up a .781 OPS and a .871 OPS his last 2 full years, and .914 OPS last year in 25 games before going down. Furthermore, our lineup is already RH loaded and could be weak against RHP if we don't have a LH bat to stick in there to break up Quentin/Konerko/Beckham/Rios/Alexei in the RBI section. I could live with a Jones/Thome or Delgado Platoon, but Jones/Kotsay or just Jones is a lot weaker. Why you ask?? because thats who it'll end up being and im fine with it. If i was ozzie... 1. Pierre L 2. Rios R 3. TCQ R 4. Kong R 5. Teahen L 6. Beckham R 7. Jones R 8. AJ L 9. Lexi R orrrrr Pierre L Rios R AJ L TCQ R Kong R Beckham R Teahan L Jones R Lexi R 3 in a row is not that bad, and I kinda like AJ in the 3.

my best fit is one Andruw Jones

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Dec 20, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) In a playoff series we actually could see Danks used as a reliever some. Getting ahead of myself, I know.. naw i think they should go with a 4 man in the playoffs to keep everyone fresh. I would though set it up to where our 2 best pitchers whomever that turns out to be are pitching game one and 4. edit...possibly even a 5 with big game freddy

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb The scary thing is they didnt even include Jake Peavy who could/should be the best of those 3.

Freddy Garcia vs. Daniel Hudson vs. other options
2nd_city_saint787 replied to Marky Mark's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) Agreed. I am going to give Freddy the first chance, but I hope we don't reward him for being an Ozzie guy/WS hero. If he struggles, let Hudson get in there. But I am perfectly fine with two options we have right now. FG had a 4.34 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP last year. As a fifth starter that is fine as long as he gets you into the 6th. Hopefully, another season removed from his arm issues will make him even stronger. But if we get those numbers out of Freddy again, we are going to win a lot of games against other team's fifth starters. I just hope this off-season he stayed away from the grass. to further elaborate on my previous points if you take out the 2 games where freddy allowed more than 3 runs hed have a 2.63 era albeit in only 7 games but thats our 5th starter. plus like maggs said hes gonna come back stronger. I also think the fact that he didnt have over powering stuff last year he learned to be a better pitcher so take that knowledge and add some more strength and we could see HUGE year out of freddy if he stays healthy.
