  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 02:09 AM) And I'll throw up in my mouth over and over and over again. Then I will proceed to kill every small animal I come across for the next year. Cantu is terrible. you can do far worse than jorge cantu, the 3 times hes got 600 ABs in his career he put up lines of .286/28/117 (an mvp candidate) .277/29/95 and .289/16/100...if we get 75% of that production from Morel/Teahen id be amazed and for 850,000 my goodness i think thats a helluva bargain for the padres. He didnt exactly have a bad year last year either when he was with the marlins he was on pace for about 15hr and 77 rbis while hitting around .260, if morel/teahen can do that this teams gonna be scary as hell
  2. so now whats really left out there starting pitching wise that would be an upgrade over Harrell/Pena/Humber or are we really gonna rely on one of the 3? Whats Ben Sheets gonna demand contract wise? would he take on a limited role? hes the only guy i can think of thats left whod be an upgrade.
  3. Is camp cora still goin on?? If so i wonder if dayans still out there and if still workin in the infield.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) I wouldn't mind Sale as closer, but as others stated above, I think it's best with him to define a role and let him roll with it all year. However, if this is true I'm still confused on what they're doing with the 5th starter spot until Peavy comes back. It wouldn't make sense to go "all in" and then just hope Peavy is ready for the 5th starter. what do we have?? Pena and Harrell??? maybe Peavy is gonna be ready to go??
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) I've never gotten the impression the kid has the mobility for the OF, but I guess we will see. It is his only chance at playing time now. well he lost weight last year and i assume/hope he'll come into this season even slimmer, that'll help with mobility.
  6. stumbled upon this while lookin for some zza http://www.giordanos.com/
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) It was actually an .877 OPS the second half. And what does that tell you that he could have a pretty good second half of that magnitude yet end up with a sub .700 OPS overall? That means he was comically bad for over three months [304 PA's the first half vs 194 PA's the second half]. There's no way to sugarcoat that fact. Beckham needs to 'prove' it this year. If you want to be a homer AKA Scott Merkin or Ranger or SS2K5 then that's your right. But don't act as if those who are concerned and want to see Beckham prove himself are talking out their ass. I got that .939 number here http://bleacherreport.com/articles/445023-...ll-stars#page/6 Im not trying to make it out that you guys are talking out of your ass with your concerns, im just saying im not concerned....im taking it as a sophmore slump, pitchers were adjusting to him and the him adjusted to the pitchers in the 2nd half and put up some great numbers
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) Second half, and he was shut down early because of the injury. hmmm well there goes my he was hurt in the first half and thats why he sucked....the kid was still a monster in the 2nd half despite an injured wrist, perhaps the 1st half was just a sophomore slump....
  9. no ones answered my question yet, was his wrist injury in the first half when he was struggling or the 2nd half when he was the best infielder in the game??
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 06:24 PM) The Gordon Beckham who had a sub .700 ops for the season has to prove himself. He also had a .939 ops in the 2nd half
  11. QUOTE (earthshiner @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 06:21 PM) well there was that wrist thing... as my post said, my memory fails me did he have that the first half when he was struggling or in the 2nd half when he was the best 2B in the AL?
  12. you mean the gordon beckham who hit .326 the 2nd half has to prove himself??? My memory fails me, when was he hurt??
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) What are your qualifications? And what do you do? I'm 23 years old and i have a years experience in security at multiple places, I worked 2 years at a bowling alley workin in their snack shop. Getting back into security is preferred but if not id like to get into any kind of labor job, I unloaded trucks for a fireworks stand and that is somethin i like doin, something physical....High School Graduate, real bright guy, just needs an oppurtunity.
  14. i think this kinney guy could take penas job, his numbers all throughout the minors are solid, he had a real bad year in 09 but he was comin back from tommy john.
  15. Just lost my job and I'm in need of a job ASAP, anyone in the northwest indiana area(i live in hammond) know of places that are hiring??
  16. soxtalk should make another one, id be down....i was in one like 6 years ago too idk how i got into it but the guy who ran it was marty larghe or somethin like that, thats no one here right??
  17. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 07:00 PM) They are going to learn how to bite people in the bottom of a scrum. was cora a rugby player or somethin lol
  18. what about harrell or torres for 5 or 6 games?? wouldnt hurt
  19. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 09:54 PM) I only saw Nova last year against the Sox but that kid has a future....very impressive. If the Sox could get him, which they won't, but if they did it'd be a steal. it seems very possible that they could, a trade up on a yankees fan board had a trade up of nova, joba,Romine, and Betances for danks....maybe yankees fans are just stupid when it comes to trades because they dont do many lol
  20. oops, im usually stoned when i post on here, i thought it said will NOT be signing, my bad
  21. whats the latest on oakland and beltre?? is texas still considering dhin young and signing him? Could we actually be a"mystery team"?? what other teams are out there? Braves?D-backs?Dodgers?
  22. id love the deal i was discussing over in the adrian beltre thread. Danks for Nova,Joba,Romine, and Betances, with good reason to, i think my points on the other thread were very valid...
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 11:36 PM) I'm still a fan of not trading one of the best young lefty starters in baseball for an unproven package when we're contending for the Central, but hey, that's just me. if we cant resign that young lefty starter then why not get a huge haul that sets us up very nicely for the future. In that deal youre getting the yankess #2,#4 and 8th ranked prospect in whats a pretty good minor league system and every guy potential fills in a spot we need or are gonna need in a year or 2. AJs gonna be gone in 2 years, how nice would it be to potentially have Austin Romine in 2 years While Nova is going to be a step down from danks you still get a solid pitcher whos a big time power pitcher who coop can mold into a potential 2-3 starter a year or 2 down the line, right now with peavy out hed be a solid 4 and a good 5 once peavys back. The write up (which are all from scoutingbook.com) looks pretty damn good minus the bolded text. Bestances from what ive read/stats could be the best piece of this trade the 2010 season that was "in doubt" resulted in 17 starts with a 2.11 era/108ks/22 walks/85IP. those are some damn good numbers. He could probably jump into the rotation in 2012 if we dont get buerhle and ejax both signed. Then you get Joba Chamberlin on top of it all, getting joba and letting him close allows you to have 2 lefties in middle relief which helps us this year. this sets the rotation up a 2012 rotation of (lets say they dont resign buehrle) Peavy-Jackson-Floyd-Nova-Betances.... and Austin Romine as your starting catcher....and joba your closer.....If they know danks isnt gonna resign and this trade is an actual possibility (this is just a trade from a yankees message board) then KW would be stupid not take it. Danks keeps us a contender for 2 years, this trade(if everyone pans) keeps us a contender for a much longer time.
