  1. has it been discussed on here somewhere what the lineup would be if Qs not traded?? if rios is the rios from last year do they bench him? If rios is 2010 rios who leads off?? Which would be your ideal lineup next year if Q stays? 1. De aza 2. Gordo 3. PK 4. dunn 5 Q 6 Dayan 7 AJ 8 lexi 9. morel or if we get the good rios 1. Lexi 2 gordo 3 pk 4 dunn 5 Q 6 dayan 7 AJ 8 rios 9 morel
  2. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 03:02 PM) It's been reported that Adam Dunn has been working out this offseason. Also, you might want to peak at the Adam Dunn thread below, fwiw. I went straight here assuming there was no Dunn thread. My question was how much out of shape was he in regards to past years?
  3. I'm sure this has been touched on many a times before but...How much out of shape was Adam Dunn last year? I remember reports saying he was, but I dont remember how much. Also any early reports on if hes actually getting himself into shape? The fact that Robin wants to play him in the field more should make him work on that a lot. If Dunn is any kind of threat next year which is very very possible if he comes in in shape then that 12-1 odds makes some sense. We've had the same problem 2 years in a row by not having a DH worth a damn, lets hope the big donkey changes that and puts up even a .220/25/70/.330 line.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) I'm gonna keep hoping you guys are right and I'm wrong. The Santos deal has not raised my hopes. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) Kenny Williams has lost a hell of a lot of chips the last couple years, including to Torotno a few weeks ago. Its pretty obvious that Paddy, the scout we got from Toronto, really likes this guy and believed he was worth Santos and thats why that happened so quick. I believe "the guys" are right in that the right thing to do was wait. I think nows the time, I believe danks will be dealt in the next week or 2. That Cincy trade gave gms leverage that wasnt out there before.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) Wrong again. I said you don't win with a superstar and "blah." Blah being a bunch of roleplayers for the most part. Kyle brought up Dallas. I countered with Kidd. He's much, much more than a roleplayer. If you don't agree, well, I don't care. I think youd have more of an argument countering with Terry or Marion over Kidd...All hes got is his leadership now(on a team full of vets so its not really needed) C.J. Watson could have easily put up 8+ and 8+ if he played 35 min a game like kidd did.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) http://www.scribd.com/doc/75786026/Hurd-Complaint "HURD stated he was interested in purchasing five to ten kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week for distribution in the Chicago area. HURD negotiated to receive the aforementioned amounts of narcotics at $25,000 per kilogram of cocaine and $450 per pound of marijuana. HURD further stated that he and another co-conspirator currently distribute about four kilograms of cocaine per week in the Chicago area, but that the supplier could not supply him with enough quantity" Ten kilos of Coke @ $25,000 per x 52 = $13,000,000 in annual transactions. 1,000 lbs of marijuana @ $450 per x 52 = $23,400,000 in annual transcations. This was set to become Hurd's SECONDARY drug source. Holy crap. Thats if hes selling it at that outrageously low price....i dont mess around with coke so i dont know the numbers on that but based on the best deal I know around here on dro youre looking at. $320(an oz) x 16(oz in a lb) x 1,000 x 52= $266,240,000 in annual transactions....and thats just the weed!
  7. Sooo if OZ threw the season by starting Rios does that mean if De Aza outperforms Rios in spring training De Aza should get the start in CF? If not is Ventura throwing the season by starting Rios?
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) Bullpen now, with Sale/Santos gone and Thornton on the way out. You've got Reed, Frasor, Crain, Ohman and probably Hector Santiago at this point...with Stewart/Molina as the long man/spot starter potentially. I think they would rather send Molina back to AA/AAA to start, so the more likely scenario is Molina as the 5th and Stewart as the long man. Sale Floyd/Danks (one or both traded) Humber Peavy Molina/Stewart There really aren't that many open spots or roster battles on the 25 man. How much playing time De Aza gets, and whether he's the leadoff guy....that has to be the case if Quentin is gone. If you keep Quentin/Viciedo together in the same outfield, then you're stuck with Alex Rios as your leadoff hitter, or Alexei Ramirez. If Danks and Floyd are both traded and the return(for whatever reason, if i were KW thatd be a must) doesnt include a ML ready SP do you think theyd give Molina or Axlerod the nod as 5th starter....Unless Paddy and KW are absolutely in love with Molina I think he needs at least a little bit of time in the minors.
  9. Show some patients guys, as said before the market for Danks/Floyd will open up soon now that Mark and (presumable) CJ are gone....Those guys were linked to so many teams that one of em, having lost out, will give KW a good haul. If Paulies bein moved you wait till after Prince Albert is gone and ship him off to one of the losers...Same with CQ...With the Sergio trade its obvious this Paddy guy must really likes this kid and kenny got him.
  10. 2 pages and no one has mentioned that maybe this could mean theyre trading pk and making dunn full time at first? makes a whole lotta sense if theyre rebuilding
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) I certainly wouldn't complain about that but I think Punk-Miz is a perfect title match at mania. Punk could carry the match and the promos would be absolutely epic, it would be quite the Wrestlemania build up. And I'm also ready for Ziggler to get in the title picture as his mic work has improved tremendously and he's one of the best around in the ring. Wouldn't be surprised if he drops the US title to Ryder so he can receive his push into the WWE title picture. And i certainly wouldnt complain about Punk-Miz either for the reasons you said...Didnt Bryan say something about not cashing in his money in the bank till mania??? If so and hes not facing punk i sure hope(and doubt he will be) Mark Henrys not the champ he faces at mania...Punk-Bryan would make me actually but the ppv instead of watching it online for free
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) I really hope TLC is the last of Del Rio in the title picture for awhile. Boring. WOuld love a Punk vs. Miz or Ziggler main event at Rumble. Actually, a Punk vs. Miz title match at Mania would be fine with me. I love watching Ziggler wrestle. He bumps like nobody else in the company. Orton used to be like that. I'm still hoping for a Punk vs Bryan Mania match. I've seen that match a few times on the indy circuit and I know itd be a MOTY type match if they let em work.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 01:26 AM) He's unavailable...he had back surgery or something. whoops didnt know about that...Another guy that id like to see brought in is Troy Smith, I think hes got a little tim tebow in em edit :while theyre at it he can bring back his UFL teammate Garret Wolfe too.
  14. They need to give David Garrard a call, I think hes the only guy out there that gives you a chance to still make the playoffs..which were not out of just yet...Hes had success with worse WR than ours
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) Knowing Kenny, he's going to deal John Danks for some formerly heralded offensive player who is 24-25 and some overrated reliever, and try to win now assuming Sale can step into the rotation. Yonder Alonso(his prospect ranking has gone down i believe so would hat make him formerly heralded?) and Bill Bray??
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) About two months ago. well then that does look kinda bad.
  17. QUOTE (Real @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) What is Sergio's value in a trade? Pros: contract, team will control him cheaply for numerous years, dominant closer. Cons: He's just a reliever when it's all said and done. Though call me crazy or whatever, I'd rather have Sergio closing for my team than Papelbon So what's his value (What could the Sox get back, best case scenario)? Top 25 prospect? Nothing close to that? Better than that? I'd 'entertain' offers until the winter meetings, let every team know he's available and try to get teams into a bidding war Well I'd say the value is pretty high considering the article mentioned last year the Twins and Nats almost did a Storen, who wasnt even the nats closer and had slightly worse stats than sergio, for Span, who the 2 previous years was a damn good player swap. So major league talent can be had using that as a template... as for those talking about not trading him cause it looks bad since we just signed him....when did he sign that contract??
  18. free agency hasnt happened yet right?? when will this happen, im assuming soon since the season starts in a month
  19. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 22, 2011 -> 02:02 AM) Yonder is absolutely abhorrent in LF. It's one of the primary reasons he's being shopped. He's a 1B or DH in the grand scheme of things, and he's currently blocked by Votto. I still remember Alonso's first MLB showing in left. It was against the Cubs, and he turned a Tony Campana single/double into an inside the park HR. You can view it here. Despite his defensive shortcomings, I'm a big fan of his. He can and will hit. Campanas freaky fast, probably shoulda played that off the wall better though lol...Ill take his D in LF for a few years(until pk or dunn are gone) if it means Rios and Q are both gone and we got this awesome young, cheap, exciting team.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 05:20 PM) I don't know Alonso that well, but he's a 1b right? I would really hate to deal for a guy that we have to move to RF because he's blocked by Konerko, only to find out that Alonso is blocked in RF by Viciedo. In other words, he better be able to give me numbers that make it reasonable for me to send the Captain packing. Alonso has played in over a 100 games in LF in the minors QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) Put Alonzo in LF and deal Viciedo for pitching. why get younger on offense only to trade away youth as well...and why in this whole discussion hasnt CQs name popped up, hes the one you trade for pitching. I keep hearing atlanta as a trade partner for Q but why?? they have prado, heyward and bourn...unless prado can play short or jones is retiring i dont see the match, if that is the case and theyre moving prado back to the inf then a Q(plus something they like in the minors if needed) for Beachy or Delgado would be perfect. I hear the Nats have some cash to throw around and could use a John Danks, they could also use an OFer with harper maybe not getting the call just yet and bernadina not being that good do you think theyd take Rios with Danks for Peacock Detwiler or milone?? love the idea of trading danks/floyd and rios together, if KW can pull of somethin like that and get a good young major leaguer out of it thatd be job well done by kenny.......make that happen, make the santos for Alonso deal happen , trade Q for the best young SP you can get OF of Alonso/De aza/Viciedo Sale Floyd Peavy Humber Young SP from Q or Danks trade Once PK retires and Dunns contracts up the sox will be working with some pretty good money as this team sans those 2 is dirt cheap and hella young
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) This would be fantastic if true, which is why I doubt it's true. However, Romine is rather expendable to the Yankees who have Montero. QUOTE (joeynach @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) Wait a second this cant be right. Am the only one that realizes what they are projecting here. For hitters, the first 14 from Konerko to Lillibridge if you add up their RBI, you get 803 Runs Scored. For pitchers, if you add up the the ER of the 7 starters and 7 top relievers (including Kinney, but not Pena cuz he was released) you get 692. WHAT. That kind of run scored vs runs allowed figure is going to yield, according to Pythagorean win formula, like 94-95 wins. Even if you adjust each number by a 50 runs in the worse direction you get 750 runs scored and 750 runs allowed. So in being pessimistic according to their numbers, the sox are still an 81 win team. And if things go right they are a 94 win team. YEAH RIGHT. I really really think they need to realize the difference between what they are saying about the sox, "What the team can't do is take a middle ground - even in a weaker division, the franchise doesn't have enough to simply tread water and hope for the best" (which I agree with) and what their numbers show (which I disagree with). thats because the first 14 include AJ and Flowers both starting at catcher and basically 5 OFer starting, adding the first 14 wouldnt be the way to do it...im to tired to calculate it now but youd have to basically knock out either Qs or tanks number, lastings numbers, castros, most of flowers, then like split half of rios or de azas...lillibridge is the utility IF in this situation
  22. if kenny thinks we can compete next year, would a Danks/Rios for Michael Young deal make sense to anyone other than me? Would Texas even take that? Would you even want that? Am I too drunk to be posting?? i mean really 1. De Aza 2. Young 3. PK 4. Dunn 5.CQ 6.Tank 7.AJP 8. Lexi 9. how about a beckham vs. morel spring training showdown...beckham wins young plays 3rd, morel wins young plays 2nd. loser takes over Omars job....If Dunn turns it around thats one helluva lineup
  23. sooo what happens if we rebuild and dunn, rios, and beckham all have bounce back years but we fall short because we traded/let go of buehrle, danks, and or floyd and our pitching is turrable??? Do we blame kenny or since thats what we all want itll be all good??? just a thought
  24. why when you still potentially have Danks Floyd Sale Peavy Humber/Stewart/Axlerod/ maybe someone they get in a CQ trade? beat me to it Flavum
  25. I wouldnt trade him in the offseason unless youre absolutely getting a good deal. Even then I'd rather they wait to see what a new hitting coach can do with him.....Why do hitters have sophomore slumps?? could this have been the case with gordo??
