QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:25 PM) Gordon Beckham still sucks I see Andddddddd now the game thread is complete.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:16 PM) If that is his best shape I would hate to see him any fatter.
-
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:00 PM) Better pack that one away man, he already made his contribution to the series. Peavy has been a bad pitcher, so you're probably right....Adam Dunn smashes good pitching.
-
DAmnit Dunn, I can't post my research after you K like that.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 10:33 PM) Beckham and Ventura suck. The bullpen too. Don't forget that Adam Dunn can't hit good pitching....Oh wait, that's wrong too, and I have some proof. Still can't find the quote I'm lookin for =( "Adam Dunn can't hit good pitching", someone said that, and after an in depth analysis, it's actually quite the opposite.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) Site:soxtalk.com "the quote goes in the quotes here" Thanks..... Everyone can now resume their regularly scheduled game thread talk.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 10:19 PM) Try google. There's a special way of doing it, with like punctuation and s***

Question...How do I search soxtalk for quotes? I was told once but forgot....I've got a gem dandy response to something that was said a little bit ago but don't know where it was said. (This is my game thread so I'll ask questions unrelated to the game if I want =p )

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 09:44 PM) Did Beckham get out after Conor's triple? No, so you have to wait to b****.
-
Adam Dunn owns San Fran pitching... .301/.395/.1.045 and that's before that HR. This OF is HUGE.
-
There's your 2 runs Chris. Dunn goes oppo!
-
C'mon guys...Sale is pitching! At least those games are still fun right?!
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 08:20 PM) Career saves converted percentages? Irrelevant because I'm not trying to say he's a better closer, just pointing out a fun little fact....I knew someone would go there.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) Kinda surprised they want him with his body type. I was a little surprised myself, but Row does have a good point. He's a real good athlete too, I really hope they let him keep his picture perfect moonsault. Probably won't let him keep the package piledriver so I'd be cool with him doing the moonsault as his finisher. Seeing a guy his size doing a moonault is awesome. He used to do a 450 as well but that was early on and I don't remember him using it since he's gotten even bigger. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) If any contender wants him after his first good outing, trade him. Get rid of him ASAP. I see your on the tanking train now eh greg? QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 04:41 PM) One statistic jumps out at me. For his career, batters hit .271 against him. That is very high for a relief pitcher. It's a very quiet .271 though. His career slugging% against is just .365. Here's a fun pointless fact, Matt Lindstrom has given up 22 HRs in 405 innings....Addison Reed has 23 in 181.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) Friendly reminder. Lindstrom, while better then a lot of the guys in our pen, is still not a very good reliever. Not very good, no, but at the very least above average, which is a welcome addition.

Is Ventura the worst manager in the history of MLB?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 10:41 AM) BS guys...this thread has just turned into the default thread for discussing our manager. Do you want someone to start a thread every other game about each different degree of Robin's incompetence? I'm unwilling to excuse his many levels of incompetence simply because this team wouldn't be making a postseason appearance had he been competent. You'd like to see a pattern of improvement with his lineup construction, bullpen management, fundamentals, ability to manage workload and injuries, substitutions, etc., over the past 3 years. You'd like to feel comfortable that when the time is right, and the window is here, and the talent and the chemistry and all that is right, that he will be prepared to help aid us winning big games...i don't feel that way about him....like, at all. Maybe I am wrong, and it won't matter either way, because the skills he does excel at, such as clubhouse management, ego management, etc., are good enough that he can get a good team going in the right direction and stay out of their way (as the Hawkeroo would say), but I just don't believe in him for this job. Isn't that what game threads are for? -

Hope they give him a feud with Zayn, their stuff on the indy circuit has been gold for years. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 09:28 AM) Granderson seems like a terrible idea. For Danks though? I wouldn't add that contract on top of the Danks contract but if they can do bad contract for bad contract I wouldn't hate it.
-
While we're talking about guys like Dunn and Alvarez, what about Granderson? He fits in the same category with those guys, and was supposedly a target in the offseason. Maybe some home cookin will do him well. Probably wouldn't trade for him unless the Mets, or a 3rd team takes back Danks though.
