QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 05:06 PM) The all-lefty rotation matters primarily in a series format. If a team is particularly strong in one platoon split, will that split be the one that leaves you vulnerable? If you had a rotation with a bunch of Gavin Floyds, even when Gavin was good, a team with a bunch of lefties would murder you in a series But what if they had a bunch of Chris Sales?

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 04:28 PM) I don't care about an all Lefty rotation. I want the best one possible. Hell Detroits been all Righties except for this year with Smyly and now Price. Agreed. The Cards traded for 2 RHP at the deadline and they now have a righties as well.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) If you are Andrew Wiggins, is there any bright side to going to Minnesota? Is he supposed to jack up 30 shots a game and make a name for himself by averaging 20-30 points a game on a 10-win team? What do you do if you are Andrew Wiggins stuck in Minnie? The bright side is he has a better chance of becoming a superstar (thus make more $$$). Playing with Lebron and Kyrie he probably never really reaches that level. Minny should be a lot of fun to watch with Rubio dishing to Lavine and Wiggins. -

Kinda curious to see how the Bulls matchup with Waiters and Lebron when they're on the court.....Gotta have Butler or Snell on Lebron at least most of the time. Do they just let Waiters "get his" by putting DMD/MJD on him or go with a lot of Kirk or put Butler and Snell out there at the same time for the most part. I like Rose on Irving, Noah on Love, and Pau on Verajo. -
Any word on whether it's gonna be more than just a couple innings?

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 05:19 AM) Aren't they really small? Ya, they're listed at 5'10"...But they're so damn entertaining....KENTA is about 5'10" as well. DBryan is listed at 5'8" so hopefully with success he's had they start giving these little guys a chance. -
Sox willing to deal Beckham in "right deal now"

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 09:56 PM) Why didn't Ventura do that today when Eaton got hurt? Sierra is a lot better then Garcia Probably because De Aza is an awful center fielder and if you have Garcia on the roster you might as well. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) I can tell you why they aren't doing that.. Who is the back up CF in that case? Eaton is prone to injury so you need someone. At this point I think I'd rather see De Aza in CF than watch Leury bat. In case of an emergency Eaton injury just go with Tank-De Aza-Sierra. Call up Danks if it's gonna be more than just a few days. Even if the finally DFA Beckham or trade him I'd still rather go with the above scenario and start Semien at 2B while replacing Leury with Sanchez. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 08:42 PM) Even while in MiLB, Semien has to pass through waivers. I doubt he'd make it past 1 or 2 teams. Ya, I made a whoopsies....On that note, I'm not exactly sure why he's still here. You'd have to think he was put on waivers and the Sox are just waiting around to see what happens with that. Sitting him probably ruins any chance of getting any ol C or D prospect. -

What a disappointment Webb has been. He looked like he was gonna be dominate last year. I don't blame Hahn 1 bit for counting on him taking a spot in the pen. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 11:38 AM) Danks didnt give me a chance to show heart. It was 1-0 before i sat down and looked at my phone. Stop it. You clearly lack TWTW. Going on vacation in the midst of a winning streak. This isn't vacation bible school man. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 11:56 PM) Yeah, even my boy, Danks stunk I guess. I still love him at this point in time. He just does lousy vs. Texas teams, doesn't he? Houston and the Rangers. So just don't pitch him against them. I have a feeling you'll soon jump off his bandwagon like I have. Gonna leave a coat on my seat though, hoping it's just a dead arm period like ptact suggested.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 11:37 PM) What exactly has Petrika done? Aww c'mon man...I'll give you the W on the whole Danks thing....But you no likey Jake either? 3.33 FIP, 1 HR in 56 innings....He's not a closer, but as a middle reliever he's fine.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 10:07 PM) I thought the same thing but 6 of his last 7 starts he has now given up 3 ER or less. That 7th start was a 13 run stinker, but he has turned it around some the last month. 3 runs or less is irrelevant...what's his FIP?........='(

Eaton has 21 game on base streak going
2nd_city_saint787 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ya I think that's what it was too...Right now he's at .376. He keeps going like he's goin and it's realistic to think he might get there. -
I think we should be rooting for Dunn to bunt. The issue was Rasmus bunt away from the shift.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 02:26 PM) Tanaka and Abreu were big exceptions to the usual free agent rules. Both were younger than the typical free agent, and had top of the heap stuff for their relative positions. Abreu ended up being a HUGE discount to what the market on him would be now. Tanaka ended up being WAY more expensive than anyone else though, and signed a typical big free agent pitcher contract, which is why the Sox didn't have much of a chance there. I'd be curious to hear their final offer, to really get a good idea of how realistic they ever were in their pursuit of Tanaka. The guys you are going to see on the FA market now aren't going to see those kind of bargains relative to their talent level. I don't see a Jose Abreu on the market this year. I could see the Sox jumping in if one of the FA pitchers they like sees their price fall into the bargain range, but I see zero chance at the Sox paying full FA price for a top level starting pitcher. If they wanted to do it, there is a really good chance that Tanaka would be here now. This years Abreu/Tanaka seem to be Yasmani Tomas and Kenta Maeda.....Wonder if they'll be in on 1 or both of those guys. Maeda scares me a lot though.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) Why don't you tell me. Lame. Past success tells you nothing? If a pitcher is successful the previous years, how do you decipher or scout them to tell you that that same success isn't going to translate?

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 11:22 AM) In fact I think it would make it worse. How so? Who knows maybe Tyler has sensitive eyes and it was effecting his vision. Or perhaps he changed prescriptions. All I know is his success started the day he put em on. Perhaps its just a placebo effect, or extremely coincidental.
