Cesaro is in such a weird place. The fans like him too much for him to be a real heal, and he doesn't have the mic skills to be a real face(Sadly that matters). I really hope he gets pushed somewhere down the line. Somehow working him into a feud with Brock would be awesome....He'll probably just end up being as a better version of ADR. A guy who kinda randomly gets put in big matches despite not really being part of any real angles. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) Ugh. Some of you guys want more from your heroes than I do. How many players would just up and quit after one bad season? He wanted to play another year. Big deal. The team is a last place or next to last place laughingstock (unable to win despite all the small market teams in the division). He didn't do anything to hurt the team. I'm glad people at Sox games are giving him loud ovations when he bats. Study Konerko's career stats. So it says a lot of bad things about our fan base that a guy can have a career like that and be criticized so much. So basically if one of our players has one or two bad years out of 10 and the rest EXCELLENT YEARS and he's one of the best players in our team's HISTORY, we don't like him anymore? Oh well, it's a what have you done for me lately society. Uh ya. History doesn't win you games. Nobody hates him though, they simply do not like the old broken down version of him.

Here's a match from G1 not on that list I linked earlier that's worth a look. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x238cqv_i...s-redrago_sport IWGP tag title match between The Time Splitters (Alex Shelly and Kushido) vs the RoH tag champs reDRagon. I could see WWE eventually signing reDRagon. I'd love to see the Time Splitters in WWE too, but for whatever reason I can't see it. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) He and Floyd were really good in 2008, pretty good (at least a 2/3 level starter) in 2009 and 2010 and then downhill from that point. But none of that has anything to do with the $35+ million pitcher we have on our roster now. It's very obvious he's having a hard time keeping the ball down, there's not enough differential on his pitch speeds, and his location/control has been suspect...isn't he leading the AL in homers allowed? Sometimes I also think the blackout/playoff game made him "an ace" to the fanbase (since we have so few playoff appearances)...and memories of that start lingered far longer than Nick Blackburn. Sure it does to the conversation going on right now. Andy is saying he hated the deal when it happened and pretty much saying he wasn't worth it. I was simply pointing out that he was indeed worth it. From 2008 to 2011 John had a 15.3 WAR, which is 16th most among SPs.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 12:13 PM) Look up his walk rates and velocity during his peak years. Where did I lie? Sooo, explain why fangraphs had him worth 17M the year before his injury and 500K this year? He also had the 18th highest WAR that year....Lets not act like he wasn't a damn fine pitcher before the injury.

Is Ventura the worst manager in the history of MLB?

QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 10:02 AM) By and large I think Robin's done ok, certainly not great, with what he's had to work with. But if San Diego let's Bud Black go, I'd snap him up in a heartbeat. Can we get San Diegos bullpen and their league leading 2,32 ERA to come with him? How come he's only been over .500 in 2 of his 8 years and currently has a worse record than the Sox? Soxtalk would probably make this same thread and call for his head. -

I'd love to see someone point out a team as bad as this Sox squad is from a talent perspective that has been any good. They lost 3 of 4 to a contending team with their leadoff man on the shelf and their big man in the middle not being the usual monster he is....I don't know why that is shocking to anyone, and why again it "proves Robin is a bad manager". Hell they may have gotten a win if Conor lets that ball roll foul, that catcher who hit that ball looks awful at baseball so there's a good chance he does squat. I suppose Robin has an earpiece in Conor's ear telling him to try and make that play. And I'm sick of the whole defensive fundamentals s***. Most these guys have been playing baseball all their lives, if they're still bad defensively, there's nothing Robin can do that hasn't been tried by every other manager they've had from little league, through the minors, and into the big league. There is no magic tricks these major league coaches pull with their players, they either have it or they don't. I don't care how crazy people think his statement was but I agree wholeheartedly with Hawk when he basically said managers don't matter.....Talent wins ball games, not the manager. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 07:02 PM) That isn't even close to true. The deal was universally praised as an under market deal for a guy of Danks then-caliber. Indeed. According to fangraphs(speaking your language here clown), from 2008-2011 Danks was worth $66.5M or $16.625M a year. So according to your beloved fangraphs the Danks deal was indeed just that, a deal.

QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) I agree trade him matt Davidson cant be worse them him. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) Davidson has been a complete flop this year. He's done nothing to get a starting spot handed to him. Ya, I think I'm ready to see Semien at 3B and Sanchez at 2B until Micah is ready(assuming he won't be come the start of the season). I love Conor the hitter, but I've grown sour on him because of his D. Wouldn't hate to see him DH despite his lack of power. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 02:01 PM) Sorry, but I just watched some of that, and it's no good without midgets running around and the wrestlers look like they're really fighting and need outlandish cartoonish gimmicks. Sorry, not for me. Boo this man One last comment about this....Yuji Nagata is so awesome to watch. Dude is 46 now and still goes hard as hell. If you like stiff strong style type matches Nagata/Ishii is a real treat. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 01:42 PM) My buddy from high school is in either All Japan or New Japan, winning titles. Joe Doering. I've seen some of his stuff, he's in All Japan, which I don't follow as much. Reminds me a lot of Mike Awesome as a wrestler. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 01:29 PM) Thanks. I'm gonna try and check out some of the AJ Styles stuff. Heard he's the star over there now. I can see it if only because there's going to be a ton of match side hijinks with trips, nikki and Bryan(?). To me the bigger disaster is Roman Reigns getting 20 minutes. And the biggest disaster is making Rollins vs Ambrose a lumber jack match. Seriously, wtf? Has there ever been a good lumberjack match? It doesn't fit their styles at all either. This should have been a legit moty candidate but I'm afraid they might have ruined it already. We'll see though. Just watched Tanahasi vs Nakamura (Day 8)....My goodness, if you only watch one match between 2 "Unknowns" that's the one. Ishii and Nagata should be brilliant as well, watching that next. I'm gonna let everything play out as far as SS goes. I'm not gonna get upset about times given or anything like that. The lumberjack match is a bit of an odd choice but the whole "Seth Rollins can't run away" thing is playing right into the storyline so there's that. I can see some fun little spots where Rollins or Ambrose jumps out onto a bunch of lumberjacks, or Ambrose fights off a ton of em and s*** like that. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 11:26 AM) Is anyone watching the g1 tournament this year? Would love to get into it but too expensive and bad times. Last night sounded interesting though. I come bearing gifts.... http://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comm..._24_all_4_star/ .... It's not the whole event but they've put up the best matches (Looks like daily motion might have the full event) They're all "Match of the year" type matches. Anything with Nakamura is fantastic, he's one of my favorite guys to watch.....AJ Styles vs Minoru Suzuki is probably the best match on there. -
Ya, no thanks to Upton unless they're taking Danks AND giving up something decent.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 10:59 PM) Lefties hit .293 off of Rodney, while righties hit .130 off of him. Meanwhile, PK faces him while Dunn stays on the bench. FWIW, and I know its not much since I'm sure most of the damage was done in the past, but PK is 6-19 with 3 doubles against Rodney while Dun is hitless in 7 ABs. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 08:43 PM) Danish is starting to become an extremely exciting prospect. Really think the only thing holding him back in terms of prospect ratings is the idea that his motion will limit him to the pen. I for one think that's a bit silly. He keeps dealing like he is I really think he should be right up there in the 2 or 3 spot within our org with some top 100 chatter as well.
-
So far Beck, Bassit, and Danish have gone a combined 15 innings giving up just 5 hits. Beck- 5 IP 3 Hits 1BB 2Ks Bassit- 4 IP 2Hits 1BB 5Ks Still think both of those guys can be back end of the rotation guys.
