Hahn- Deal could happen before Aug 31

QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 10:56 AM) Ha, we were all on the same page here. Not sure why my salaries and SS2K5's are different. I used BBR and got 25 mil, 32 mil and 32 mil for '15, '16 and '17. I am sure you used Cots? Anyways, the Angels look like they'll at least be talking about moving Hamilton this offseason. I wonder how much money they'll kick in. Even if their conversations aren't with the Sox I'd be very curious to see how much cash they'd tie to him. Assuming he is owed 89 million base, what would the kicker be? At least 40 million I'd guess. I used Rotoworld. If they kicked in 40M, that'd be ~16M a year, I think I'd take the risk on him. Or perhaps they take on all of Danks 31M and send back 10-20M on top of it. -

QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 10:19 AM) I don't want Hamilton but the guy is a left-handed outfielder/DH that is out of sorts with his team. Obviously if you're trading for the guy you're betting on him returning to pre-2013 form but that's not a bet I'd be willing to make. If the Angels paid for him to play for the Sox I might be open to it. I was just about to say I'd love to take that risk (I've read his book a few times and really root for the guy) but holy back loaded contracts batman! Dudes contract jums from 17M this year to '15- 35M, '16-32M, '17- 32M..... That is a boatload of cash. EDIT- Based off 2k5s post, those numbers must be the max he can earn. -

Sadly, and I say this as one of Danks biggest supporters, Danks isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe at the trade deadline next season when he'll only be due ~20M and the Sox pitch in a good portion of that he might be traded, but right now it's not gonna happen. IMO, him being here next season won't be that big a deal. Sox have plenty of money to play with even with him on the roster and he can still give you some quality innings. He's not blocking Rodon from starting, and guys like Beck and Bassit are still half a season away. Only guy he might be "blocking" is Noesi and that's only if the Sox feel like they should go after a guy like Shields/Masterson etc. -
Bassit probably done for the day.... 7IP 1ER 4 hits 3BB 9Ks 5 starts in AA- 31IP 17hits 3ER 11BB 36Ks .87 ERA .90 WHIP

Bassit with 8Ks through 6. Dude is legit. Wish he hadn't gotten injured, he'd likely be at the very least be a September call up. I'd probably start him in AAA next year.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 05:20 PM) Anyone know if Bears / Seahawks game is going to be live on NFL Network? Looks like there's an hour delay (Starts at 10 on NFLN, 9 on Fox). -

Has anyone heard anything about Despaigne coming over next year? Not left handed, but that's not THAT big a deal (Abreu hits lefties and righties about the same). I'd "blow a load" if he does and the Sox were able to grab him. Eaton-Avi-Gillaspie-Abreu-Despaigne-Dunn-Ramirez-Johnson-Catcher

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 11:04 PM) I believe the Sox record vs +.500 teams is decent and their record vs bad teams is terrible Yup, 2 games over .500 vs +.500 teams. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) This shouldn't be new. I've been saying this since the original bullpen thread. Don't get me started on FIP and what a great predictor it is. FIP indicated decent numbers for Lindstrom even last year, when he posted a pretty garbage WHIP for a reliever. How are you projecting good / solid ERA results when you have a WHIP over 1.4? That really doesn't make much sense to me. His career WHIP is over 1.4 too. I think he's been able to stick around so long with that high a WHIP because he simply does not give up the long ball that often at all. Teams have to work to score their runs.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 03:14 PM) By the way, I just want to bring this back up. I still would argue that anyone that defends Hahn and the design of this bullpen would be mistaken. This pen was set-up to be a disaster from the beginning of the season. I think the goal, from Hahn's perspective, was that some of the young guys would have taken steps forward and given him some cost controlled pieces to utilize in the future when the team was more capable and ready to contend. This pen would have been atrocious from the start. Lindstrom, while a decent middle of the pen guy, is not a closer or set-up guy and that is what the Sox wanted him to be. Yes, Nate's injury has hurt, but this pen is bad because it consisted of by and large not very good relievers, and I think Hahn was okay with that cause he figured he'd be able to use the spots for developmental purposes. Problem is, very few guys who you could probably project to be quality relievers, have stepped up. Putnam has been a surprise but I don't think I'd expect him to keep doing this. Petricka is nice and I won't give up on Webb but that is literally it. Maybe we'll see a few guys emerge late but the farm system has completely failed to provide us with any quality relievers this year. C'mon now, not YOU too!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 09:43 AM) There's no evidence thus far indicating that he was charging forward. There's a video I posted last night of people talking at the scene claiming he was....Video coincides with the police report(or the police press conference)almost to a T.
-
Was there any drugs found in his system? From what I've gathered he was shot in the arm a few times and STILL kept charging forward. Not sure what drug would allow this, if a drug is even needed depending on where at in the arm, or that what extent he was even charging forward.

Not sure this has been posted, but it makes things very interesting. http://www.ijreview.com/2014/08/168698-eye...guson-shooting/ Him laying there for hours is still a head scratcher though, and the protests obviously should have been handled differently as well. Only way I can spin the whole protesting thing is I can imagine it'd be hard to differentiate peaceful protesters and the others out there who were looting and vandalizing police cars and such things like that. When you have gobs of people on the street late at night you don't really know what's going to happen.....Again, let me reiterate that I did say it should have been handled differently, just trying to make some kind of sense to it.

I don't hate Cena as much as everyone else here, but man, that was fantastic. Great Summer Slam from top to bottom. Kinda think Cena will go away for a bit and they'll push Reigns now. -

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 01:39 PM) I'm gonna let everything play out as far as SS goes. I'm not gonna get upset about times given or anything like that. The lumberjack match is a bit of an odd choice but the whole "Seth Rollins can't run away" thing is playing right into the storyline so there's that. I can see some fun little spots where Rollins or Ambrose jumps out onto a bunch of lumberjacks, or Ambrose fights off a ton of em and s*** like that. Yup. Awesome match -

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 06:58 PM) Every time he gets over, wwe does something to screw it up. It's pointless for him to lose to a guy who'll be leaving soon again. What a joke. Bully Ray done with TNA. Bring him back, Trips. He's one of the few bright spots in TNA. I'm hoping they had plans for a Cesaro/Bryan feud and that's why they want him to be a heel....Or perhaps they weren't sure Brock was indeed coming back. He's stuck in tweener-ville atm and I'm not sure how they get him out. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 06:50 PM) Cesaro might as well get released. His matches are still highly entertaining so they won't release him. They'll figure out what to do with him at some point. -
Sox are now 34-30 against teams with .500 records or better. Weird.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 11:06 AM) How would that make any sense for the White Sox as well? They need three starters, at least 2. When Sale came up in 2010/11, there were much better rotation options/depth on the roster. True true, just brought it up because of all the "Sale path" talk there's been.
